NEWS – 100 BLACK MEN OF GREATER WASHINGTON 100 Black Men of Greater Washington, D.C. is devoted to improving the quality of life for African American youth in the Washington, D.C.metropolitan area.
ABOUT THE 100
100 Black Men of Greater Washington, D.C. (100BMGWDC) was founded in 1995 in response to the call to action voiced during the Million Man March. A group of eleven professional Black men, concerned about the future of the youth in their community, came together and decided that it was their responsibility to step up and make a difference. THE 100 LAUNCHES THE 2020/2021 SATURDAY LEADERSHIP ACADEMY On Saturday, October 3rd, 100 Black Men of Greater Washington, D.C. launched the 2020/2021 Saturday Leadership Academy (SLA). Over 60 Young Men, from 40 Different Schools, Representing DC, MD, and VA registered for the 2020/2021 SLA, and there is still an opportunity to join. The session was kicked-off by Mentoring Chairman, Dr. Eric V. Bell, Chief Administrative Officer of Ridgeline CONTACT – 100 BLACK MEN OF GREATER WASHINGTON 100 Black Men of Greater Washington, D.C. is devoted to improving the quality of life for African American youth in the Washington, D.C.metropolitan area.

The Collegiate 100 adds value by serving as a core of service volunteers to help carry out the mission of 100 Black Men of Greater Washington, D.C. Members of the Collegiate 100 campus-based student organization assist the chapter, as appropriate, with programmatic initiatives that support the educational, social, and emotional needsof youth
MENTORING – 100 BLACK MEN OF GREATER WASHINGTON Mentoring is the cornerstone to all of the 100’s programming and the foundation of our local chapter’s premier initiative, the Saturday Leadership Academy (SLA). The SLA is an exciting opportunity for young men, 8th-12th grade, to interact with caring adult mentors who aremembers of

THE HOWARD UNIVERSITY CHAPTER OF THE COLLEGIATE 100 On Friday, November 20th, the Howard University chapter of the Collegiate 100 welcomed 15 new members. Each of these servant leaders are dedicated to being change agents on their campus, and in their communities. The virtual ceremony featured several special guests. Words of support and encouragement were provided by 100 Black Men’s very own Mr. David Bowers, and Mr. Barry Hudson. 100 BLACK MEN OF GREATER WASHINGTON What they see, is what they'll be. 100 Black Men of Greater Washington, D.C. is devoted to improving the quality of life for African American youth in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Mentoring Mentoring is incorporated into all programs delivered by 100 Black Men of Greater Washington. Mentoring Learn how the 100 Black Men of Greater Washington connects young Black men with caring PROGRAMS – 100 BLACK MEN OF GREATER WASHINGTON The 100 Black Men of Greater Washington DC aims to develop programs that address the economic underdevelopment of the African American community – programs designed to promote savings, home ownership and entrepreneurship. Our goal is to instill positive economic values in young people and encourage adults to realize their full economicpotential.

“THE 100” GIVES SCHOLARSHIPS TO SLA GRADUATING SENIORS The 2019/2020 Saturday Leadership Academy Annual Youth Achievement Closing Ceremony was unlike any ever held before. It occurred on May 23rd, in the midst of the global coronavirus pandemic. To ensure the safety of our Saturday Leadership Academy students, what is normally a face-to-face celebration of the hard work and accomplishments of spectacular African American young men and boys was MEET THE 100BMGWDC’S 2020 CLASS! Earlier this spring, the 100 Black Men of Greater Washington, DC welcomed 12 new members, each committed to leveraging their gifts to make a difference in their community and to impact the lives of DC Metropolitan Area youth in a positive way! Llew Brown Llew Brown RN, MPA, is a registered nurse and expert in Health IT research and policy. He is currently a Senior Clinical Program Lead at COLLEGIATE 100 PRESIDENT RASHEED MUHAMMAD, “MOTHER KNOWS In 3rd grade Howard University Collegiate 100 President Rasheed Muhammad got a “B” on a progress report. Based on his mother’s expectations of him, it was so concerning that she scheduled a conference with his teacher to discuss the situation. After the parent-teacher conference Rasheed’s mother came home and sat him down. She looked him directly in his eyes and said: Now is the time 100 BLACK MEN & RIDGELINE INTERNATIONAL, INC. TAKE Earlier this year Ridgeline International, Inc. initiated a fundraising campaign on the behalf of 100 Black Men of Greater Washington, D.C. One of CEO Erik Wittreich’s objectives was to increase opportunities for underserved youths in the STEM field, leading to STEM careers. The fundraising campaign was incredibly successful, securing a combined total of $20,000. On September, 9th100 Black
STEPPING FROM THE SHADOWS & CREATING HER OWN LIGHT MaKenzie Smith is a Senior at Howard University in Washington, D.C. She is also the Communications Director of the Howard University Collegiate 100 chapter, an academic scholarship award recipient, a Public Relations major, a dancer, a daughter, a sister, and most importantly, a mentor. Ms. Smith is from Saginaw, Michigan, where her father is a pastor and her mother is a teacher. As a result 100 BLACK MEN OF GREATER WASHINGTON What they see, is what they'll be. 100 Black Men of Greater Washington, D.C. is devoted to improving the quality of life for African American youth in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Llew Brown Llew Brown RN, MPA, is a registered nurse and expert in Health IT research and policy. He is currently a Senior Clinical Program Lead at ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT Economic Empowerment. The 100 Black Men of Greater Washington DC aims to develop programs that address the economic underdevelopment of the African American community – programs designed to promote savings, home ownership and entrepreneurship. Our goal is to instill positive economic values in young people and encourage adults to realize STEPPING FROM THE SHADOWS & CREATING HER OWN LIGHT MaKenzie Smith is a Senior at Howard University in Washington, D.C. She is also the Communications Director of the Howard University Collegiate 100 chapter, an academic scholarship award recipient, a Public Relations major, a dancer, a daughter, a sister, and most importantly, a mentor. Ms. Smith is from Saginaw, Michigan, where her father is a pastor and her mother is a teacher. As a result 100 BLACK MEN & RIDGELINE INTERNATIONAL, INC. TAKE Earlier this year Ridgeline International, Inc. initiated a fundraising campaign on the behalf of 100 Black Men of Greater Washington, D.C. One of CEO Erik Wittreich’s objectives was to increase opportunities for underserved youths in the STEM field, leading to STEM careers. The fundraising campaign was incredibly successful, securing a combined total of $20,000. On September, 9th100 Black

We recognize our responsibility to step up to make a difference in the EDUCATION – 100 BLACK MEN OF GREATER WASHINGTON All components of the program are based on proven STEM methods, processes, and systems, and are conducted by 100 Black Men members that are highly qualified STEM professionals, educators, and mentors. A number of external STEM organizations provide supplemental educational opportunities to complement our work. THE 100 LAUNCHES THE 2020/2021 SATURDAY LEADERSHIP ACADEMY On Saturday, October 3rd, 100 Black Men of Greater Washington, D.C. launched the 2020/2021 Saturday Leadership Academy (SLA). Over 60 Young Men, from 40 Different Schools, Representing DC, MD, and VA registered for the 2020/2021 SLA, and there is still an opportunity to join. The session was kicked-off by Mentoring Chairman, Dr. Eric V. Bell, Chief Administrative Officer of RidgelineCOLLEGIATE 100
The Collegiate 100 adds value by serving as a core of service volunteers to help carry out the mission of 100 Black Men of Greater Washington, D.C. Members of the Collegiate 100 campus-based student organization assist the chapter, as appropriate, with programmatic initiatives that support the educational, social, and emotional needsof youth

The 100 Black Men of Greater Washington DC aims to develop programs that address the economic underdevelopment of the African American community – programs designed to promote savings, home ownership and entrepreneurship.
