CONCERT REVIEW: THE CHILLS AT THE POWERSTATION 14 MAY 2021 To paraphrase a Chills tune, oh how ‘the grains fall through the hourglass”. That old hourglass was put into overdrive last night at The Powerstation as The Chills and The Bats performed together for the first time in over 30 years playing songs that spanned four decades.. I know this is probably starting to sound a bit tired now, but I can’t help but comment on the lovely vibe in place ALBUM REVIEW: THE CHILLS The Chills at The Powerstation. 15 May 2021. In their earlier career The Chills gave The Fall a run for their money in terms of the turnover of members but there is now a very settled band membership.Todd Knutson (drums), Dr Oli Wilson (keyboards and harpsichord) and Erica Scally (guitar, keyboards and violin) have all been in the band at least ten years, with just WATCH: 13TH FLOOR MUSICTALK WITH NATALIE BERGMAN The 13th Floor’s Marty Duda spoke to Natalie just days after she released Mercy, her gospel album recorded following the death of her father and stepmother in an auto accident. Things get a bit emotional here, and there may be a few tears shed but Natalie is COURTNEY BARNETT ADDS AUCKLAND SHOW TO NZ TOUR Tickets to Courtney Barnett’s show at Auckland Town Hall on Sunday 25 July go on sale TODAY, Monday 31 May at 1pm.. Presented as part of Elemental Festival, the Auckland date rounds out Barnett’s solo tour of Aotearoa this July, her first live performances in over 12 months.. Aside from the Auckland show, the tour is nearly entirely sold out, with limited tickets remaining for the Hamilton EDITH PIAF À L’OLYMPIA À PARIS PERFORMED BY YULIA Due to popular demand, a second performance of Edith Piaf L’Olympia à Paris, performed by special invitation by Yulia, is announced for The Civic, Auckland, next month Auckland Live 2021 Cabaret Season.Tickets go on sale tomorrow at 9am via Ticketmaster.. Excitingly, performances in Christchurch and Wellington are also today announced for this August. ALBUM REVIEW: FLEETWOOD MAC Upon seeing that the Fleetwood Mac had a mammoth 35 tracks, three-CDs and 2 LPs long live special edition coming out, one may ask, why? But then the first notes of Monday Morning hit and we remember because, nothing in the entire world beats live music and nothing beats Fleetwood Mac in their prime.. Recorded mostly during their 1980 world tour of Tusk, this special edition works as an encore MOVIE REVIEW: THIS TOWN This Town is the latest film by New Zealand writer and director David White, an absurdist mockumentary comedy set in a fictional small NZ town.It has Robyn Malcolm as Pam, an ex-cop, belting out potential evidence on her trusty dot matrix from her garage office.. Director: David White Cast: David White, Robyn Malcolm, Rima Te Wiata. Oh how the sound of a dot matrix printer at work takes me WHA CUP! AARON TOKONA T-SHIRT Wha Cup! the trademark catchphrase of beloved musician Aaron Tokona has become a tagline, along with an ‘iconic’ photo of him for a t-shirt campaign raising awareness of mental health and support for the artist’s tamāhine, Asha. Reb Fountain got the night off on the right footing declaring we’re all at the “biggest show on earth right now!” CONCERT REVIEW: REB FOUNTAIN & THE BLACK QUARTET Combine the voice and presence of Reb Fountain with the songs of Nick Cave and add The Black Quartet and you’ve got yourself one memorable night of live music.. It was on September 22 nd, 2017 that Reb Fountain first performed the songs of Nick Cave in the cozy confines of The Wine Cellar in front of about 100 fans.. Fortunately I was there.
