Stepper Motor. The stepper motors used in Anet A8-B (as bought in May 2016) are NEMA 17 SL42STH40-1684A produced by Guangzhou Shenglong Motor Co., Ltd. Here is the link to official shop, includes motor specs. The SL42STH40-1684A motor specs are: Step Angle: 1.8°. Step Angle Accuracy: ±5 % (full step, no load) Voltage: 2.8 V.PRINTER CALIBRATION
The calculation is as follows: Steps new = (Distance expected / Distance actual ) * Steps Original. From this formula we can calculate the new steps/mm by plugging in the values: Steps new = ( 100 / 102.09 ) * 90. Steps new = 88.16 steps/mm. Save the new steps to the printerwith M92 E88.16.

MOTHERBOARD OVERVIEW A common point of failure in this version of the motherboard is the 5V circuit relay (Big Blue Cube). It can cause many issues where the printer “sorta” turns on, because the relay turns off the 5V circuit, which is the front panel interface LCD and knob. TL;DR: Bypass the relay by shorting it with a solid core wire to fix MANYissues.

Step Angle Accuracy: ±5 % (full step, no load) Voltage: 2.8 V. HOWTO CONNECT YOUR HOTBED (AND OR EXTRUDER) TO A MOSFET Apply a second PSU ( 12 or 24 volts) If you want your HOTBED to heatup faster you can add a second power supply unit to your printer. Disconnect the wires from the PSU to the Mosfet Unit and apply them to the second PSU. The heating element that came with the Anet A8 will perform ok with an increase of the (PSU 1) Voltage to 14 Volts. REPLACING THE HOTBED CONNECTOR Soldering cables directly onto the heater is a very reliable option if it is well done. But soldering thick wires onto the heater with a large thermal capacity is quite dificult and requires some soldering experience to avoid cold joints (stacking one blob of solder on top of another without melting the solder properly, and therefor not creating a good electrical connection). General Info. All-metal FDM 3D printer. automatic bed-leveling function with an inductive sensor. Power Outage Recovery - resume print after power outtage. filament detection sensor. Automatic filament assignment - Automatic load and unload the filament with just a click. Industrial Grade Chipset - overcurrent protection, overloadprotection
AUTOLEVEL FOR THE A8 ANET 3D PRINTER Autolevel for the A8 Anet 3D Printer. With autolevel your printer will scan the surface of your heatbed and adjust the Z-axis offset according to the position. Therefore you will not need to adjust the heatbed any more. You will need the following: Distance sensor. Connector (JST XHP-3)ANET A8
Marlin 3D printer firmware. Skynet 3D A marlin-based firmware modified for the Anet A8. Code is in Marlin. Script for setting up a build environment for Skynet 3D on Raspberry Pi / Linux Dead site. Repetier Firmware - On 14. June 2016 the Anet A8 was added to the Repetier-Firmware as Zonestar P802M Clone.ANET MAINBOARD(S)
⇐ OLD - NEW ⇒ NOTE: The upgrade has been done because the "old" slide-on connectors often suffered meltdowns as a result of transitional resistance and the following heatdevelopement caused by improper wiring or currents going over the maximum rating for theconnectors.

Bed Center Calibration. Sometimes the center of the bed is not the actual center. When printing large prints, the skirt, brim or the object itself is printed outside the heated bed. For bed center offset calibration please read: 0scar's Calibration Guide on Thingiverse. HOW TO INSTALL THE Z-COUPLERS (THE RIGHT WAY) The correct installation. It's simple: The middle of the coupler must be flexible. So don't insert the rods until they touch each other, just insert the rods on both sides 5mm. They have to go just past the screws, but they don't need go in all the way. A simple illustration:STEPPER MOTOR

TL;DR: Bypass the relay by shorting it UNDERSTANDING THE HEAT BED The Anet A8 heat bed is designed quite near its limit and small effects may prevent you from achieving temperatures above 100°C. Under ideal conditions, the heat-bed can just reach the temperature needed by ABS. To achieve higher temperatures a few changes are needed. Here are the main recommendations for those who just want theresults:

OPTIMAL LAYER HEIGHTS Based on the lead of the Anet A8 Z-Axis leadscrews (8mm - each full rotation moves the Z-Axis 8mm), the Z-Motor steps per revolution (200), and this calculator, we can calculate the list of optimal layer heights: 0.08, 0.12, 0.16, 0.20, 0.24, 0.28, 0.32 etc. - in increments of 0.04mm. The leadscrews are T8 - with lead 8mm, pitch 2mm and 4screw threads.
INTRODUCTION
Introduction. SkyNet is a firmware (based on Marlin) that will run on the Anet V1.0 board. At the moment there is a bug in version 2.0 about the autolevel of z axis and the author suggest to continue to use the version 1.1alfa for such feature. Version 2.2 was released on3-Jan-2017.

The stepper motors are all (externally) unmarked. As such, gathering information for them is quite dificult. It is known that they are type NEMA 17, 2-phase hybrid bipolar. They are fairly easy to replace, however, as long as you know the specs you are looking to match.3DPrint.Wiki

Printer (and any other CoreXY Printers) Support and Community!
So, why a wiki when there's already a facebook group? Simple. Questions come and go on facebook, and considering the timeline format of facebook, questions keep coming up. We wanted a place where we could catalogue all the information we have about printing, be it for the Anet line of printers, custom builds, and anything else we can getour hands on.
In this Wiki, you'll find information on printer maintenance, common troubleshooting, building guides, firmware, and much more! Welcome to the community! ------------------------- CONTRIBUTING TO THE WIKI To contribute to the wiki, please follow our Contribution Guide .
