Why the NewPlayFest? There is no shortage of works, especially by unpublished playwrights. But how do theatres find the time to read them and cull out the ones their communities will enjoy? Many theatres have new play contests, but few produce the winning scripts and talk to other theatres about them. Yet a script is not likely to be published unless it is produced and createsTECHNICAL DIRECTOR
The Technical Director (TD) has the daily responsibility for the technical operations of a theatre or performing arts center, including lighting, sound, set design and construction, and coordinating necessary maintenance. He or she works with a great deal of independence and exercises independent judgment in performing a widevariety of duties.

AACT: THE ORGANIZATION Structure The membership of the American Association of Community Theatre (AACT) consists of organizations and individuals from 11 Regions (see map). Each Region has a Regional Representative who serves on the AACT Board. AACTFEST 2021: NATIONAL COMPANIES 12 Virtual AACTFest 2021 National Company Productions will be streamed during the week of the festival. Eleven of these were selected from applications from 38 theatres around the country. A 12th production will be presented from AACT Region X, which represents communitytheatres on
AACTFEST 2021 INVITATIONAL AACT has restructured the AACTFest festival system in response to the COVID-19 pandemic—and to better support the mission of the National Festival. Scheduled for June 14-20, 2021, AACTFest is where we'll gather in a virtual setting to learn, trade stories, and see compelling theatre from across the nation.
