In our first blog we suggested that, like trees, your evaluation systems might contract as you focus on the health and safety of your camp community — and that’s OK! Now, severe weather can happen at virtually any time of the year. Camps need to be prepared. The American Camp Association (ACA) standard OM.8 requires that a camp have site-specific emergency procedures established to appropriately respond to natural disasters typical of the area and other reasonably TRAINING TOOL SHEETS FOR CAMP DIRECTORS AND CAMP Drawing from what we are learning through the ACA Research Initiative, we've gathered some tools that could help you and your staff. With so little time in precamp orientation to do everything you want to do, you may find it helpful to step back and set priorities for your training time with counselors. Take the time to sort out what needs to be said and understood versus read and understood. CAMP DIVERSITY: A CALL TO ACTION Promotes inclusion and equality. The need for a camp’s quality has been accepted as a mantra, but the imperative for diversity is often marginalized rather than accepted as central to the quality equation in ACA camps. The data on our camp’s diversity is a call to action. It is urgent to our relevance to infuse the issues of camper-staff FOOD SERVICE BUDGETING BASICS Calculate Your FoodCost Percentage. Let’s say, for example, your breakfast average cost per camper is $3.00, and your camp charges $8.00 for breakfast. To determine your food cost percentage, divide the cost by the sales, then multiply by 100, and convert to percentage. $3.00/ $8.00 = .37. .37 X 100 = 37% Food Cost forBreakfast.
