Donor Membership Levels and Benefits The Academy is a 509(a)(3) charitable organization under federal tax rules. By definition a 509(a)(3) names the charitable organization(s) to benefit from its philanthropic support, in this case the University of Illinois Foundation, and under the regulations the receiving entity ensures that its charitable mission is served by the supporting foundation. REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS The Academy maintains an open call for proposals in all areas related to its mission, including research projects, lectures, visiting speakers and scholars, course development, student support, and study abroad opportunities related to free-markets and limited government. Interdisciplinary and inter-campus proposals are welcomed andencouraged.
PROJECT ON BUSINESS AND SOCIETY With a direct gift of $100,000 to the College of Business and additional significant funding from donors the Academy has helped launch a new Project on Business and Society at the University. DONOR MEMBERSHIP LEVELS AND BENEFITS Founders' Circle. $25,000 per year for 3 years. Membership includes: Invitations to dinners with special guests, speakers and board members; Reserved Seating at events WEEKENDS EXPLORING LIBERTY Students from all three University of Illinois campuses participate in the annual Weekends Exploring Liberty supported by donors to the Academy on Capitalism. NEW ENDOWED LECTURE SERIES FOR UIUC fall 2015 new endowed lecture series for uiuc: the bob and barbara hathorne endowed lecture series was created by a generous six-figure endowment. the hathorne’s endowment will bring leading intellectuals to champaign to speak to students about ENTH ANNUAL FALL SYMPOSIUM AT FALL 2016 TENTH ANNUAL FALL SYMPOSIUM AT UIUC: HOOVER INSTITUTION ECONOMIST DR RUSS ROBERTS DELIVERED THE ACADEMY’S FALL SYMPOSIUM ON THE TOPIC: “IS FREE TRADE A MISTAKE?” Professor Russ Roberts , of Stanford’s Hoover Institution, addressed students and the community at a public lecture as part of the Academy’s Tenth Annual FallSymposium.

OVERVIEW | ACADEMY ON CAPITALISM AND LIMITED GOVERNMENT Overview. University of Illinois programs supported by the Academy provide a well-rounded, multidisciplinary experience for students. History, business, philosophy, ethics, literature, women’s studies, Asian studies, political science, and economics are among the areas the programs we support help students explore. SPEAKERS AND DEBATES Speakers and Debates. Each semester the Academy supports a lecture by a significant scholar or opinion leader to provide provocative and educational commentary on ideas critical to current events, human well-being, and American society.
