A HOME FOR DESIGN
Now that my craft cabinet is back in order after looking like this: And is now looking like this: I have freed up some time to pursue one of my favorite things: Wrapping gifts. Read all about our upstairs hallway make over here and here for the reveal. Here is how I wrapped some boxes of Legos we recently gave to a 10 year old boy. I first wrapped each box in a different paper and tied them 7 DIY IDEAS FOR A LAUNDRY NOOK IN THE GARAGE This is our laundry room. Room is actually an overstatement. Its more like a nook. In the garage. We made over this nook in the spring, then I snapped a few pictures on our way out the door to a weekend trip at El Capitan. While the weekend trip was awesome, I didnt so much end up liking the pictures of our nook. Or the door color. Especially thedoor color. You can

You can read all about how I designed the fabric here. Now let me show you how I upholstered the bed frame start to finish with sources on everything I used for this project. There are two parts to this. The HOW TO: AGE BRASS HARDWARE INSTANTLY Aside from scoring some great deals this weekend, we finished putting up shelving and trimming out the master closet. Its ready for paint next. I bought a haz-mat suit. Its going to be awesome. I also mudded and taped and mudded 150 feet of Hardie Backer seams in the master bath, then Frank coated everything with Red Guard turquoise Mapei water proofing. Now we wait for some HOW TO: SEW A HALF-ROUND SEAT CUSHION COVER After procrastinating for a couple of months, I sat myself down in front of my sewing machine and finished these long overdue cushions and pillows. To make a regular pillow with a zipper at the bottom like the two zig-zag ones I made for the chairs, you can use this tutorial. Today is all about how to sew a seat cushion cover that is half round. I used the old covers as my guide. If you don HOW TO: BUILD A QUEEN BED WITH TWIN TRUNDLE That's how we build the queen size bed. On the Odda pull out bed we cut down the board so that the trundle would fit with our bed. Pin It. Then, we attached our own board and added a quarter round to finish off the raw edge from our cutting. HOW TO HANG A FLUSH MOUNT SHELF OR CUBBY Pin It. On the wall where you are going to hang it you can now use the card stock to gauge the position of the cubby or shelf. Make two lines - at the top and one side like this. Pin It. Then use a level to make a level horizontal line using your mark from before for the rightheight. Pin It.

Yesterday, I showed you the finished blue wall with the new desk and some shelves and a gallery wall. Today, I am back to share our tutorial for how we built the desk. We used 1x4 for the legs and 1x3 for the frame under the desk top. From the top: the first four boards will create the square frame that is screwed into the table top. The next two boards are the bottoms of the legs, the lastELIMINATION DIET
3/4 cup of water. 2 heaping tablespoons of coconut milk. 1 scoop of raw yellow pea protein powder. 1/4 tsp raw stevia (it's a green powder and not as processed as the white stuff. Tastes better too.) 2 drops of vitamin D. 1 tbsp of Flax oil (cold pressed, organic) 1-2 handful of frozen organic berries. Flrrrrrrr. HOW TO: FIX A SAGGING DOOR. SEE HOW EASY IT IS. Sometimes the things we have to do around the house are more practical than pretty. Such as when a door wont fully close because it is sagging. Meet our door to the office: As you can see it was severely sagging to the point where it didnt close easily. If you wanted to close the door, you had to lift it up with the handle to make it fit in the door frame. Not ideal. Here was the HOW TO MOVE IN ONE WEEK Total: 7 hours - 71 boxes. Frank usually spends a couple of hours taking a few things apart like getting the TVs off the wall, taking apart our IVAR shelving in the garage. Those hours are not included in the above. Day 3: the day before the movers came. Make move-in report, get keys and move the kitchen. VEGAN BUTTERFLY FRAMED ART Pin It. Pin It. I cut a piece of 9x9 inch white Bazzill card stock with linen texture. This is the size that fit's into the smaller of the two sizes shadow frames from IKEA. Then I glued the first butterfly to the center of the card stock. Pin It. Then I lined the rest up around the center one. Pin It. DIY UPHOLSTERED HEADBOARD INSERT AND PILLOWS Now, I want to talk about the headboard insert and the pillows. I know. Exciting stuff. Let's dive in. We have the Sumatra bed from Pottery barn and even though both the bed and mattress are both California King sized, there was a 5-6 inch gap between the mattress and the headboard. Our solution until how had been to stuff two king sized pillows into that gap to prevent our other pillows to LAUNDRY NOOK IN GARAGE MAKE-OVER Laundry nook in garage make-over - shelf. With the chevron wall finished, we moved on to making a shelf. The shelf will serve a couple of purposes. 1. It will hold the soap. 2. It will have a curtain under it to hide all the outlets and hoses. 3. It will add another layer tothe design.

To attach them, I put one end under the hem and secured with a pin, then folded over the top of the tab and secured it to the top of the curtain panel with another pin. Tip #1. Add half a teaspoon of vinegar to your whites while beating them. This really helps them get stiff and hold their peaks. Pin It. Add the egg whites and vinegar. Add in half of the powdered sugar, hold back the other half. Tip #2. Yesterday, I showed you the finished blue wall with the new desk and some shelves and a gallery wall. Today, I am back to share our tutorial for how we built the desk. We used 1x4 for the legs and 1x3 for the frame under the desk top. From the top: the first four boards will create the square frame that is screwed into the table top. Yesterday, I showed you the finished blue wall with the new desk and some shelves and a gallery wall. Today, I am back to share our tutorial for how we built the desk. We used 1x4 for the legs and 1x3 for the frame under the desk top. From the top: the first four boards will create the square frame that is screwed into the table top. When we were looking at houses, we had three things at the top of our list: 1. location, location, location 2. 9 ft ceilings in the living room - and a view to the back yard - not the street 3. A big back yard - which is pretty rare in my neighborhood. Walls can always be changed, right? So we did. The former owners had added on a new living and dining room downstairs, with a huge master suite VEGAN BUTTERFLY FRAMED ART Pin It. Pin It. I cut a piece of 9x9 inch white Bazzill card stock with linen texture. This is the size that fit's into the smaller of the two sizes shadow frames from IKEA. Then I glued the first butterfly to the center of the card stock. Pin It. Then I lined the rest up around the center one. Pin It. LAUNDRY NOOK IN GARAGE MAKE-OVER Laundry nook in garage make-over - shelf. With the chevron wall finished, we moved on to making a shelf. The shelf will serve a couple of purposes. 1. It will hold the soap. 2. It will have a curtain under it to hide all the outlets and hoses. 3. It will add another layer tothe design.
HOW TO MOVE IN ONE WEEK Total: 7 hours - 71 boxes. Frank usually spends a couple of hours taking a few things apart like getting the TVs off the wall, taking apart our IVAR shelving in the garage. Those hours are not included in the above. Day 3: the day before the movers came. Make move-in report, get keys and move the kitchen. DIY UPHOLSTERED HEADBOARD INSERT AND PILLOWS Now, I want to talk about the headboard insert and the pillows. I know. Exciting stuff. Let's dive in. We have the Sumatra bed from Pottery barn and even though both the bed and mattress are both California King sized, there was a 5-6 inch gap between the mattress and the headboard. Our solution until how had been to stuff two king sized pillows into that gap to prevent our other pillows to OIL BASED PRIMER AND LATEX PAINT I dragged out my water-based primer, deciding if I would use that on the outside instead, but then threw caution to the wind with a: "Let's live a little" and continued with the oil based primer for the other side. Pin It. Gave that side two coats of the charcoal gray latex paint as well. Pin It.__ __
