AIMS MASTER’S IN MATHEMATICAL SCIENCES AIMS South Africa offers an intensive one-year postgraduate course leading to a Structured Master’s in Mathematical Sciences, formally accredited by the Universities of Cape Town, Stellenbosch, and the Western Cape. The programme is taught in association with the faculty of the Universities of Cambridge, Oxford and Paris Sud XI. THE AIMS LIBRARY SERIES Eight books in the AIMS Library Series have been published. OUR STUDENTS
The main AIMS South Africa building is a self-contained residential centre with excellent computer, library and lecturing facilities. Lecturers and students live and dine in the main building, allowing for maximum contact time in an informal and collegiate setting. AIMS SOUTH AFRICA NEWSLETTER APRIL/MAY 2021 AIMS South Africa . 6 Melrose Road, Muizenberg Cape Town, South Africa APRÈS-LUNCHES WITH MATHEMATICAL SCIENTISTS On 8 April, the webinar featured Dr Mesias Alfeus, who completed a BSc Honours at AIMS South Africa in 2013.Dr Alfeus is a Financial Risk Management Lecturer at Stellenbosch University in South Africa. He obtained a PhD in Quantitative Finance from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) in Australia, with a dissertation entitled “Stochastic Modelling of New Phenomena in Financial Markets. MASTER’S COURSE PROPOSALS The AIMS Structured Master’s in Mathematical Sciences Programme commences in September each year at all centres. AIMS South Africa offers a second intake commencing in January for South African students. Prospective lecturers are advised to submit proposals by 28 February for courses in the programme starting the following September(or January).
