THURSDAY FAVORITE THINGS #453 Thursday Favorite Things #453. Happy Thursday, and welcome to another Thursday Favorite Things (TFT) link party. I'm glad you've chosen to spend some time with us today. I hope you've had a good week. Here's what I shared at the blog this week: Happy Day Giveaway Don't forget to enter for a chance to win a $100 Amazon gift card. HOW TO MAKE A DISCBOUND NOTEBOOK (ART JOURNAL, BULLET The gold metal ones I chose are very strong (I used a coupon at the craft store and didn't pay full price, but I've added the link so you can see which ones I used), and I just loved how the gold metal looked with the covers. I bought the medium (classic) size. The metal discs are more expensive than the plastic ones, but either metal or plasticdiscs will work.

THURSDAY FAVORITE THINGS #465 Thursday Favorite Things Thursday, November 12 Hello, and welcome to another Thursday Favorite Things (TFT) link party! I'm so glad you're here. It's that time of year when many of us are half in fall mode and half in thinking ahead for Christmas mode. I have trouble going full on Christmas until after Thanksgiving, but I am watching Christmas movies now, and I've begun my evening hot cocoa ritual. My features today pull from a little of both seasons. Some fall ideas and some holiday/winter ideas. Also, this week on the blog, I shared some Veterans Day Fun.

VETERANS DAY FUN
Everything Else
Wednesday, November 11 My husband loves Veterans Day. He especially used to love Veterans Day when he would get to speak at our local elementary school. He is a veteran of the Air Force, and in addition to the wonderful recognition and appreciation, free food from various restaurants, and the free coffee from Starbucks he receives on Veterans Day, the highlight of the day for him, for several years, was giving a presentation to the kids. (I think my husband would have loved being an elementary school teacher!) Each Veterans Day, my husband's niece and nephew's elementary school invites the students' relatives who are veterans to come and speak, and for several years, my husband would go and do a presentation for the kids in their classes. (My niece and nephew are now in middle school and high school, so my husband is now a veteran without aclassroom...)

dominates our everyday lives. In fact, on average, we spend more of our waking hours staring at a screen than we do interacting with thereal world.
Technology has improved our lives in many ways, but it has also brought us new stresses,
addictions and health problems. If you feel like social media has been getting you down, or you’ve been suffering headaches as a result of eye strain, it could be time to take a technology break. Below are just a few ways to undertake a digital detox.Continue Reading »

HAPPY HALLOWEEN FROM OUR HOME TO YOURS AND SOME FALL DECORHouse and Home
Saturday, October 31 Happy Halloween everyone! Although your celebration may be different this year than in years past, I hope you have a good time tonight (if you celebrate Halloween, that is!)
I realize that many of you will start decorating for Christmas right after Halloween, (and I do start watching Christmas movies then!), but I don't really put up much Christmas decor until after Thanksgiving. So, I plan to enjoy some fall color on the front porch and indoors, at least for a few more weeks. If we get any trick-or-treaters tonight (I hope we do), they will have a more cheerful greeting than the previous dreary black mat and colorless front porch would have given. I'm planning to put the candy on a table on the porch. I was originally going to put it on the driveway, but it's a little dark there. Plus, the porch is much more happy. I will miss greeting the kids at the door, but at least I can wave from a distance. This post contains affiliate links, which means I'll earn a commission if you purchase through them, at no extra cost to you. Thank you! I got the jack-o-lantern door mat at a local garden store, and the buffalo check rug beneath it as a part of this set, on Amazon. I know that jack-o-lantern season is about over, so he'll be saying goodbye a little bit sooner than the rest ofit.
I have pansies and celosia on the porch. (The celosia is the red plant.) If it doesn't frost really early, the celosia might even still be out there with my Christmas decorations for a bit! (I doubt that will happen though! Once it frosts, the celosia is done.) It's might be warm enough to sit on the porch this evening, from a safe distance. After several days of cold, dreary rain, the sunshine and 60 degrees today is wonderful. (My talented daughter - who, unlike me, can sew! - inspired me with her own buffalo check pillows. So, on Amazon, I got these pillow covers that came as a set with the buffalo check front door rug , under the mat. I had to get my own pillow forms for them, but I'll use the forms over and over, changing the covers with the season. The fabric is great quality and can be used indoors or out. I'm so happy with them.) A leaf garland and a new little pumpkin cheered up the mantel. I got the white lantern a few Christmases ago, and it stays there year round. Pretty soon, I'll just switch out the fall garland forChristmas garland.
Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you have a safe, happy evening.Continue Reading »

LOOKING FOR A NEW HOME? READ THIS FIRST!Everything Else
Friday, October 30
Have you outgrown your house and decided to move to a new home?
Or maybe due to a new job or the opportunity of a better education for your children, you’ve decided to move to somewhere new? Whatever the reason for your need to find a new family home, there’s a lot to consider when looking for a new home. It’s not just a case of picking a property that sounds perfect on paper; it’s about thinking carefully about each aspect of theprocess.
Wondering what factors you need to take into account when it comes to looking for a new family home?
Have a read of the guide below, and implement the tips and pieces of advice in your search! Photo by Jay Mantri from Pixabay Write a List of Wants and Needs When it comes to choosing a new property for your family, take
the time to write a list of your wants and needs for the new property. Think about what you - and your family - want and need from your new home. Think about what you love about your current home, and consider finding a property that offers the same kinds of benefits. When it comes to household wants and needs, make the needs a priority, such as a set number of bedrooms and having outdoor space, and then make the wants an added bonus. MAKE SURE YOU’RE BEING FINANCIALLY SAVVY One of the most important things to think about when it comes to buying a new home is whether or not you’re making financially smart choices. If you're a parent, you need to be especially mindful about the choices that you are making and how financially savvy you're being. You don’t want to end up spending more than you can afford; that’s why it’s so important to make financially smart decisionsas you go.
