Newcombe. Octavius Newcombe was originally a partner in The Mason & Risch Piano Company of Toronto. Mason & Risch was established in 1871 with the partnership of Newcombe with Thomas G. Mason and Vincent Rich. For a brief period during the late 19th Century, instruments were produced under the “Mason, Risch & Newcombe” brand name. JEWETT - ANTIQUE PIANO SHOP In 1860, George A. Allen began manufacturing pianos with Wade H. Jewett, forming the Allen & Jewett Piano Company.In 1869, Mr. Allen withdrew from the parnership. In 1870 Mr. R. B. Richardson entered into partnership with Jewett to form the “W. H. Jewett & Company” Richardson withdrew from the partnership in 1885 when Jewett’s two sons and nephew were admitted to the partnership.BELL (CANADA)
Bell (Canada) The Bell Piano & Organ Company (not to be confused with Bell Brothers) was established in Guelph, Ontario, Canada by Robert and William Bell in 1864. By about 1895, the firm was operating under the name of “W. Bell & Company”. The firm also produced pianos and organs under the brand names of Diploma and Guelph. POOLE - ANTIQUE PIANO SHOP The Poole Piano Company was established by William H. Poole in Boston in 1893. One of Boston’s finest and most respected old names, The Poole Piano Company name was produced for nearly a century. MEISTER - ANTIQUE PIANO SHOP Meister. The Meister Piano was manufactured and sold by the famous Rothschild Department Stores of Chicago. Meister and Rothschild’s sales offices were based in Chicago, but the Meister piano factory was in Monroeville, New York. Meister was a good quality, affordable piano, and thousands were sold. KARN - ANTIQUE PIANO SHOP The Karn name was associated with one of the largest and most prestigious piano & organ manufacturers in Canadian history. The company was originally established by Dennis W. Karn and John M. Miller in 1867 as The Woodstock Organ Factory in Woodstock, Ontario. The name was soon changed to Miller & Karn D. W. Karn bought out J. M.Miller in 1870.

The Ivers & Pond Piano Company offices were located in Boston and factories located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Ivers & Pond was an expensive, well made piano, and they were often made of lavish and exotic woods with amazing detail to the cabinet work. HEINTZMAN - ANTIQUE PIANO SHOP “The Gerhard Heintzman Piano Company” was established in 1877 in Toronto by Gerhard Heintzman, nephew of Theodore Heintzman of Heintzman & Co. Gerhard Heintzman was issued many patents for improved manufacturing, and his firm was modestly successful. MILLER, S. W.
The S. W. Miller Piano Company (not to be confused with the Henry F. Miller Company of Boston) was established by Swain W. Miller in Sheboygan, Wisconsin in 1896. S. W. Miller built high quality pianos and organs, and although the firms advertising presented itself in a grandiose fashion, they actually built instruments in fairly modest numbers compared to their contemporary manufacturers. BECKWITH - ANTIQUE PIANO SHOP The Beckwith Piano & Organ Company was established by the retail giant Sears Roebuck & Company in Chicago in the late 19th Century. Instruments by Beckwith were widely sold in their mail-order catalogs and larger retail stores across the country.
