The Apps for Good Awards celebrate the UK’s most talented young people who are transforming the world with technology AWARDS | APPS FOR GOOD Our 2020 Awards. Our 2020 Awards took place during a really challenging time for schools and students, but due to their dedication it was a fantastic success. SANDSPACE | APPS FOR GOOD Sandspace was created by Nuno, Brito, Diogo and Bruno aged 17-18 from Agrupamento de Escolas Dr. Serafim Leite in Portugal. The app is designed to find the beaches with the most space and do your part to help the fight against the coronavirus. MACHINE LEARNING STANDARD Students explore a wide range of machine learning applications and assess the social, legal and ethical impact of the use of AI algorithms. Student work in teams or individually to design and build a prototype that solves a problem they care about using machine learning altorithms. For those teachers who have already started or are planning to deliver our App Development Standard and Machine Learning Standard courses, these can be delivered in the classroom or remotely.They are chunked into hourly sessions to make it easier for teachers to set as weekly home lessons. The Apps for Good story. Beginning. The Apps for Good story begins in 1995, Rio de Janeiro; Rodrigo Baggio founded CDI. His vision was that young people could be empowered to change the world through technology. Fast forward to 2009, when Iris Lapinski completed a feasibility study, funded by the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation, with theCDI team.
Q-PID | APPS FOR GOOD Q-PID consists of an app plus sensors and cameras installed in shops. The sensors count every person entering or leaving the shop to determine occupancy levels. Q-PID also uses cameras to calculate queue lengths. It gathers this data and provides real-time information on waiting times to app users.APPSFORGOOD.ORG
