This easy crab Continue reading → VINTAGE JOHNNY MARZETTI RECIPE • APRON FREE COOKING Instructions. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Using large sauce pan, boil water and cook macaroni according to package directions. Dice onion. Place skillet on medium heat and brown ground beef and cook onions. Drain cooked macaroni and set aside. Drain grease from ground beef. Add pasta sauce to ground beef. BAKED SPAGHETTI LEFTOVER MAKE OVER • APRON FREE COOKING Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Prepare pasta according to package directions. Drain pasta, toss with pasta sauce. Layer half the pasta in baking dish. I use a 9x9 square casserole. Spread half of mozzarella and pepperoni over pasta. Repeat layers with second half EASY BISCUIT PIZZA RECIPE • APRON FREE COOKINGBISCUIT PIZZA DOUGH RECIPECAN BISCUIT PIZZAPILLSBURY BISCUIT PIZZA CASSEROLEMAKING PIZZA WITH BISCUITSPIZZA FROM BISCUITS Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease 9×13 baking dish. Open biscuits and separate. Press biscuits into solid layer on bottom of pan. Seal edges so no spaces appear. Spread pizza sauce over biscuit dough. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over sauce. Add SMOKED PICKLED EGGS • APRON FREE COOKING Turn heat off, leaving covered pan on stove. Let eggs set in hot water until water has cooled to a temperature cool enough to place hands in. Peel eggs. Measure vinegar, water and Liquid smoke. Combine. Place hot eggs in glass jar. Pour vinegar mixture HOW TO CONVERT SLOW COOKER TIMES TO OVEN • APRON FREE COOKING For low setting, divide the time by 4 and bake at 325 degrees Fahrenheit. For high setting, divide the time by 2 and bake at 325 degrees Fahrenheit. If you are converting an oven recipe to crock pot, multiply the baking time by 2 or 4 depending on the heat setting you want to use. Use the chart above to reverse the conversion from rightto left.
AUNT DOTTIE'S NEW ENGLAND BAKED BEANS • APRON FREE COOKING Coarsely chop the onion. Combine the spices and syrup/sugar with molasses. Dump all together into the bean pot. Cover with water. SWEET POTATO QUICK BREAD VINTAGE RECIPE • APRON FREE COOKING In large bowl, combine dry ingredients. (except brown sugar) In medium bowl, beat the eggs fluffy. Add brown sugar, oil, milk and sweet potatoes. Mix well. Add wet mixture to dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Place batter in greased loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until toothpick comes clean. FRUIT COCKTAIL CAKE VINTAGE RECIPE • APRON FREE COOKING Using a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs. Add the sugar and mix together well. Add flour, salt, cinnamon, baking soda, and juice from the fruit cocktail. Beat until smooth. Fold in the fruit and nuts (if using). Pour into a greased 9×13 baking dish. Bake at 350 degreesfor 40 minutes.

This easy crab Continue reading → HEARTY CHICKEN SOUP WITH ACCENT • APRON FREE COOKING Instructions. Place chicken, Accent packets, Bay leaves and water in slow cooker. Heat for 8 hours on low. Remove chicken from crockpot and shred meat, disposing of bones. Return shredded meat to pot. Add cooked pasta, peas and carrots to crock pot. Add Onion soup packet. Heat through and serve. 1976 HUNTS COMPLETE TOMATO SAUCE COOKBOOK 2 (12 oz) pkgs smoky link sausages. 1 cup sour cream. In medium saucepan, combine Hunt’s Sauce and onion soup mix. Add smoky link pieces and heat through. Stir in sour cream. Keep warm for serving but do not boil. For easy eating, place a toothpick in each piece of sausage. Makes about 16 appetizer servings. GARDEN FRESH BASIL OIL Blanch leaves in boiling water for 30 seconds. Chill leaves in ice water after removing from the boiling water. Pat dry using paper towels. Place basil leaves in blender with olive oil. (a food processor works as well) Whirl in the blender on "pulse" setting 1975 RIVAL CROCK-POT COOKING ~ VINTAGE COOKBOOK • APRON With sharp knife, score meat about 1/8 inch deep in diamond pattern on top side. Season with salt and pepper. Rub in Worcestershire sauce and oil. Sprinkle top with paprika. Place sliced onions and mushrooms in Crock-Pot. Roll flank steak, if necessary to fit easily, and place on top of onions. Cover and cook on low setting for 6 to 10 hours. WHAT IS A PINCH, DASH OR SMIDGEN? • APRON FREE COOKING These are actually labeled: “Pinch”, “Dash” and “Smidgen”! I did some digging on the internet though, to find out how those amounts really translate and here’s what I learned: SMIDGEN – A smidgen holds 1/2 pinch or 1/32 teaspoon. 2 smidgens = 1 pinch. PINCH – A pinch holds 1/2 dash or 1/16 teaspoon. 2 pinches = 1 dash. IRISH PARLIAMENT BEAN SOUP ~ VINTAGE RECIPE • APRON FREE Instructions. Rinse beans in cold water and soak overnight. In 6 quart stock pan, add drained beans, ham bone, water and seasonings: bring to simmer. Continue to simmer over a medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until beans are soft (about 1 1/2 hours). Dice the onion, celery and carrots. VINTAGE JOHNNY MARZETTI RECIPE • APRON FREE COOKING Variations: As with any good pasta dish, you can really dress this recipe up. Add olives, pepperoni, ham, sausage, peppers or mushrooms. You could also substitute Alfredo sauce, but that’s probably a Marzetti by another name. _I received a copy of this cookbook in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own._ Cooking for one is hard. I was excited to find out about this cookbook from Jeanie Zisk, The Ultimate Cooking for One Cookbook. Having this resource on hand makes it a lot easier to cook in small portions. I’ve always cooked for a crowd. I grew up as the oldest of five children, so supper meant a meal for seven people, or more if somebodyhad a friend over.
