THE ART EXHIBITIONS YOU MUST SEE IN 2021 The exhibitions to see in 2021. From an exploration of Iranian art to the optical illusions of Bridget Riley, 2021 is packed with fantastic exhibitions to inspire you when our museums reopen. This past year has been a challenge for everyone, and we’ve been grateful for the continued solace and inspiration museums bring us. As we move into NINA HAMNETT EXHIBITION AT CHARLESTON Charleston dive into the overlooked body of work belonging to Welsh artist Nina Hamnett, a key figure in early 20th-century modern art. Nina Hamnett was an important part of the Bloomsbury Group in the 1920s and 30s, as a key point of connection to Camden Town Group and CECIL BEATON: CELEBRATING CELEBRITY EXHIBITION AT BLENHEIM Cecil Beaton: Celebrating Celebrity. From Marilyn Monroe to Pablo Picasso, Cecil Beaton was best-known for his enigmatic portrait photography of the rich and famous – six decades of his images are on display here, dating back to the Roaring Twenties. Cecil Beaton was once a regular visitor to Blenheim Palace, attending parties andevents with
THE STORY BEHIND THE SARIKHANI COLLECTION 2 TONE: LIVES & LEGACIES EXHIBITION AT HERBERT ART GALLERY The 2 tone sound originated in Coventry’s thriving music scene of the 1970s and the name derives from the legendary 2 tone record label founded in 1979 by Jerry Dammers of The Specials, referencing a desire to transcend and defuse racial tensions in Britain at that time. The exhibition will explore the formation of the record label and LISA BRICE EXHIBITION AT CHARLESTON As an artist she is known for her bold, evocative painting and use of interesting techniques such as heavily layered brushstrokes. The exhibition features a number of paintings that capture her sitters in action, celebrating the present moment of the female nude. School buildings were still being completed when Longsands School opened on a grey rainy day in September 1960. It was the first secondary school to open in St Neots and finally enabled students to EARTHWORKS EXHIBITION AT MALL GALLERIES This exhibition features work by mother and son duo, Lydia Bauman and Karl Dudman, focusing on painting and photography inspired by the world's most striking landscapes. STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES Student Opportunities benefit both museums and galleries and students in a range of exciting and transformative ways. Students can explore an interest in the arts alongside future career options, while providing organisations with a skilled and accountable resource. BAILIFFGATE MUSEUM & GALLERY 10,000 years of unique Northumberland heritage are on display in this museum housed inside a refurbished church.
