DEPARTMENT OF MODERN BELARUSIAN ART The department of Modern Belarusian Art was established in 1957.Since then the main directions have been scientific and research, fund, scientific and educational work. The department members have been studying the history of Russian art from the late 19 th century to the present day. The results of this long-term research have been published in the editions of periodicals, exhibition BELARUSIAN ART OF THE 20TH CENTURY The fund of the modern Belarusian art comprises nearly 11 thousand works of painting, graphics, sculpture, decorative-applied art of the 19- early 20th centuries - PORCELAIN INSPIRATION The exhibition ‘Porcelain Inspiration’ is dedicated to the creative activities of artist Lieanid Bahdanau (September 12, 1937–March 23, 2018), one of those who created a new kind of Belarusian decorative and applied art – decorative porcelain – in the second half of the 20th century. LIEANID BARAZNA. BELARUSIAN FOLK CLOTHES Lieanid Barazna is an outstanding Belarusian ethnographer, researcher, artist, graphic artist and public figure.He was born in Novaje Siało, Taločyn district, Vicebsk region on December 4, 1928. The artist went to school there. He served in the Soviet army, entered and studied at the Minsk Art School, worked as an artist at the Belarusian Industrial Council in 1947–1955. IN ANTICIPATING OF THE SPRING: WOMEN AND BELARUSIAN ART Archaeologists consider that first ever potters were women. Most of the Neolithic era pieces of art were made by them. Perspicacious women noticed that animal tracks or people’s footsteps, left on the ground, became solid and could store fluid after a shower. LIEANID BARAZNA. BELARUSIAN FOLK CLOTHES Lieanid Barazna is an outstanding Belarusian ethnographer, researcher, artist, graphic artist and public figure.He was born in Novaje Siało, Taločyn district, Vicebsk region on December 4, 1928. The artist went to school there. He served in the Soviet army, entered and studied at the Minsk Art School, worked as an artist at the Belarusian Industrial Council in 1947–1955.
