EL BARRIO’S ARTSPACE PS109 El Barrio’s Artspace PS109 is a community-driven project which transformed an abandoned public school in East Harlem into an arts facility. Designed by Charles B.J. Snyder and completed in 1898, this structure is five stories tall with a steeply pitched roof, copper-clad cupolas, and a wealth of newly restored decorative terracotta.
NORTHSIDE ARTSPACE LOFTS Northside Artspace Lofts is a mixed-use redevelopment of the block located at 229 Irving Avenue North in Minneapolis' Harrison Neighborhood, approximately one mile from the Minneapolis Central Business District. The Harrison Neighborhood has a rich cultural heritage supporting the arts and creative sectors. ARTSPACE HAMILTON LOFTS The City of Hamilton, on the northern edge of the Cincinnati metro area, began using the arts for civic improvement in the 1990s. In partnership with artists, politicians, and neighborhood and philanthropic leaders, Artspace restored a historic building downtown into a mixed-use arts facility. KARCHER ARTSPACE LOFTS But like most of downtown Waukegan, it fell on hard times. By the 1970's it had been turned into a senior citizens’ residence, and had stood vacant since 1984 when Artspace entered the scene. Artspace renovated the Karcher investing $14.6 million to create 36 units of affordable live/work space for creatives and their families plus 2,811 OLA KA ’ILIMA ARTSPACE LOFTS Ola Ka `Ilima Artspace will have more than 17,000 square feet of community and greenspace, including a playground area and a community room available to residents, partnering non-profit organizations, and the surrounding community for rehearsal, exhibitions, performances, and events.
