ASER OVER THE YEARS
Over the years ASER has included a variety of learning assessment tasks in addition to the basic test of reading and arithmetic. These have included, for example, writing and comprehension tasks; reading and comprehension in English; and higher level tasks in arithmetic. A summary of learning assessment tasks is available here .DO ASER YOURSELF!
Preparation. ----------. Print out the testing tools ( Reading / Math ), in the language that you plan to test in. ASER tools are available in 16 Indian languages and in English. Each tool is 2 pages long (one sheet of paper, printed on both sides). ASER MATH TOOLS. The ASER Math tool consists of four levels: Number recognition (1-9), number recognition (11-99), two digit subtraction with borrowing, and three digit by one digit division. ENSURING DATA QUALITY ENSURING DATA QUALITY. Every year, ASER procedures to ensure data quality are reviewed and strengthened. Three key elements are involved: training of field teams, monitoring of the survey while it is in the field, and recheck of data already collected. In recent years more than 40% of all sampled villages have been monitored,rechecked or both.
SURVEY PROCESS
To select these households, the survey team begins the survey from the centre of the hamlet and then selects every 5th household found on the left. This is known as the “5th household rule”. READING - ASER CENTRE ASER READING TOOLS. The ASER reading assessment tool consists of 4 levels: letters, words, a short paragraph (Std 1 level text), and a longer "story" (Std 2 level text). The child is marked at the highest level which she can do comfortably. ----------.WORK WITH US
The objective of ASER Centre is to carry out a variety of survey, assessment, evaluation and other research activities in education and other social sectors as well as to build the capacity of individuals and institutions to design, conduct, understand and disseminate these activities. Preparation. ----------. Print out the testing tools ( Reading / Math ), in the language that you plan to test in. ASER tools are available in 16 Indian languages and in English. ASER 2020 WAVE 1: RELEASE ASER 2020-Wave 1 was released at an online event attended by over 11,000 people from around the world. Every year from 2005 to 2014, ASER has reported on the schooling status and the ability to do basic reading and arithmetic tasks for children in the 5-16 age group inrural India.

INTERNAL COURSE PROGRAMME . ASER Centre has teams in almost all states in the country. These teams are responsible for coordinating projects at the state level, including mobilizing, training and supervising partner institutions and field surveyors; data collection and analysis including identifying and understanding key trends emerging from the data; and dissemination of this data by 1996-2005: FOUNDATIONS 1996-2005: FOUNDATIONS. Beginning in 1996, the non government organization Pratham has worked with children in thousands of villages and urban slums across India. For much of this period, the focus of this work has been on helping children master basic skills in readingand arithmetic.
