ADOLESCENTS WHO HAVE SEXUALLY OFFENDED Fast facts about adolescents who have sexually offended Fact 1: Adolescents commit sexual crimes. Adolescents (ages 13-17) account for approximately 25% of all sexual crimes and 35% of all sexual offenses against minors (OJJDP, Juvenile Justice Bulletin, December 2009). While males perpetrate most sexual offenses committed by adolescents, females account for 5-10% of PHARMACOLOGICAL INTERVENTIONS WITH ADULT MALE SEXUAL This Fact Sheet only addresses issues related to the use of pharmacological interventions with adult sex offenders. CHILDREN WITH SBP TASK FORCE REPORT The Task Force on Children with Sexual Behavior Problems has completed their report which is intended to guide professional practices with children, ages 12 and under. Specifically, the Task Force was asked to address how assessment should be linked to intervention activities, what intervention models or components are most effective and the WHAT IS SEXUAL ABUSE? Q: What is sexual abuse? A: Sexual abuse includes any sexual or sexually motivated behavior that is done to someone without that person’s consent. This includes a continuum of intrusive behaviors ranging from hands-off offending, such as voyeurism and verbal comments, up to and including sexual penetration with or without violence. The key is that there is no consent. WHO COMMITS SEXUAL ABUSE? Q: Who commits sexual abuse?A: There is no typical profile of someone who commits sexual abuse. People who sexually offend cross all socioeconomic, educational, gender, age, and cultural lines (Knight, 2010; Knight and King, 2012). Although 90-95% of abusers are males (Cortoni, Hanson, and Coache, 2010), females also commit sexual abuse.
