LIGHTWEIGHT WOOD SAWS FOR BACKPACKING BY THE NUMBERS: THERMAL PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS OF The diameters used can help highlight expected warmth and expected resilience. The diameters of fibers are measured and displayed for each insulation. Primaloft Gold 6 osy showing fiber diameter measurements of 10.62, 21.46, and 31.40 microns. Primaloft Gold 3 osy showing measured fiber diameters of 11.87, 26.17, and 36.66 microns. EXPERIMENT(S) WITH KNORR SIDE DISHES The experiment was to bring water in a pot to boil and then let it simmer for 8 minutes. Weighing the water before and after this simulation of conventional pot preparation, I found that the simmering time resulted in a loss of 3 1/2 ounces of water – just about a halfof a cup.

WHY SMARTWATER BOTTLES? The SmartWater bottles are also quite durable and the opening on the caps tend to not leak, therefore you don’t have to unscrew the cap in order to drink like with a Gatorade bottle. Space heating systems were involved in 55% of the cases, engines in 28%, charcoal stoves in 5%, and camp stoves and lanterns were involved in 2%. It’s that two percent which concern us: just four people. LONG DISTANCE THRU HIKES AND FEET GROWTH / SWELLING Summary: Your feet will grow in size over the years, and this will be permanent. The growth will be especially noticeable during and after a long walk. In addition your feet will pump up a bit more after a day or so of walking, but this extra growth will fade after a few days ofrelaxation. Cheers.

I had section-hiked the Desert Trail as far as I-40 last year and thought to continue on to Death Valley this year. But the only LIGHTWEIGHT WOOD SAWS FOR BACKPACKING Sven Saw. Start will be the South Fork Teton TH, finish the Sunset Hill bridge on the Blackfoot River, just upstream from the Clearwater. Course area is all public land in Montana. Note: there is no overnight parking at thefinish.
DAY HIKING IN KINGS CANYON DAY TWO. We were on the trail by a little after 8, joined by two neighboring campers from Oakland. The Hotel Creek Trail is one that leaves directly from Cedar Grove, and the first mile was steep and really hot, even this early in the morning. SLINGFIN PORTAL 2P TENT The Slingfin Portal 2P Tent is purpose-built for stormy weather. It’s the only wedge/dome tent on the market that can use trekking poles to assist in stabilizing the structure (the Slingfin “Outrigger” concept). AN ULTRALIGHT TENKARA ROD WITH A VERY HIGH LEVEL OF The Tenkara Rhodo may be my favorite rod for tiny/minimalist flies, thin tippet, and delicate presentations to wary trout. It’s 2.1 oz, and can telescope among three different lengths from shorter than 9′ to longer than 10′. MOUNTAIN HARDWEAR ASPECT 2 TENT The Mountain Hardwear Aspect 2 is a suprisingly good tent from a company not usually known for making ultralight gear. TRANSITION SEASON IN THE MONTANA BEARTOOTHS By Ryan Jordan. May and June are always iffy months when you’re trying to get to high elevations in alpine areas. Such was the case on this trip in the Montana Beartooths. I managed to get up to about 10,000 feet (where I camped on a patch of bare ground) but it took some work. Miles up a long canyon followed by a slow snowshoe slog bythe

HYPERLITE MOUNTAIN GEAR JUNCTION BACKPACK REVIEW Introduction. The Hyperlite Mountain Gear Junction backpack offers a similar physical configuration (one large rear pocket, two side pockets, two hip belt pockets, roll-top closure) as their Windrider, Southwest, and Northrim packs, but in a slightly different fabric configuration.. THERM-A-REST VESPER QUILT REVIEW The Vesper is no exception. Therma-A-Rest utilizes a featherweight 10D Nylon RipStop fabric on both the shell and lining of the Vesper, and the result is a quilt that is a tactile pleasure to sleep in. The fabric is quiet, soft, and so thin as to be translucent in directsunlight.

The only critical element is the copper strip, which should be 1″ wide with a thickness of 20-25mil, which is .020″ to .025″.
