BAYLOR ENCOURAGES BUT WILL NOT REQUIRE COVID-19 By Vivian Roach | Desk Editor. Students, faculty and staff will not be required to be vaccinated but are strongly encouraged to do so according an email Baylor sent out Thursday. “The extent to which we can provide a full, normal fall experience is directly dependent on the continued vaccination of our campus community over the next few months,” the email said. COVID VACCINE SHOULD BE MANDATORY FOR FALL SEMESTER The COVID-19 vaccine has given us hope as a society – quite literally as humankind – for the first time since the start of this crisis. It would be a ridiculous embarrassment to throw that away, but unfortunately, that is currently what much of the public seems contentto do.

READJUSTING TO ALL IN-PERSON CLASSES WILL BE HARD BUT Readjusting to all in-person classes will be hard but worthwhile. Many students who prefer hitting the snooze button and logging onto Zoom in sweatpants while relaxing in bed are about to face a harsh reality this coming fall when classes resume mostly in person. For everyone who likes online classes, this will indeed induce a sense of anxiety. WHY DOLLY PARTON IS AN EXAMPLE OF FEMALE EMPOWERMENT A friend. There are a lot of words that can describe Dolly Parton, but feminist isn’t one of them. Dolly has never used the word feminist when describing her feeling towards women in power or how she views her actions. Rather, Dolly believes in female empowerment, the belief that a woman’s hard work is all the proof that she needs. HOW DOES SOCIAL MEDIA IMPACT YOUR HIRING STATUS? Students today have grown up with social media and have been taught the lessons of how the internet is forever. Entering the job force, how can social media still have an impact? AMERICA’S DRUG POLICY IS FUNDAMENTALLY BROKEN America’s drug policy is fundamentally broken. In 2001, amid a runaway opioid crisis, Portugal decriminalized the possession and consumption of all drugs. Warnings, small fines and orders to attend meetings to discuss treatment plans replaced arrests and incarceration. While this shift in policy didn’t end Portugal’s drug crisis, rates of DANCE SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A SPORT Dance should be considered a sport.
