The brood-nest I selectively cut-and-crush (as a way to recycle/remove the combs anyway). BURR COMB DUE TO SPACING ISSUES Hi everyone, I am a first time beekeeper this season. I went to do my second hive inspection today and realized that, due to not properly spacing the frames correctly (user error), the bees have built out burr comb between frames. I am using a single box for now. This makesit hard to correct

I place mine with the notch down for winter, cover the hole with duct tape, place a piece of blue insulation on top of the inner cover, and then place the outer cover on top of the insulation. On the side boards start at the bottom by leaving a finger. You'll end up with a 5/8" wide finger at the top of side board and you clip that back to 3/8" long and it fills the frame rest rabbet and supports the ends of the frame rest flange.HIVE ENTRANCE SIZE.

Frames are inexpensive but I have cleaned a good number of them in a cooler filled with warmwater, soap, and a cup of bleach. Scrape the propolis off first, then submerge IS MIRACLE GROW BAD? Miracle Grow is a chemical salt by product. Use them for 3-4 years and you don't have. earthworms anymore. This is a guarantee! Just ask the chemical user gardeners. However 94 to 95 is the most natural and gives best results. When I was researching this I got different answers so ended up putting a probe in a brood nest to discover what bees actually do. Fine Woodworking did a glue review, where they used a computer-monitored press to break lap joints bonded with different adhesives. LENGTH OF TIME FOR HIVE TO START A NEW QUEEN AFTER SPLIT I made a split last Monday and purposely moved the old queen to the new hive with lots of brood and bees so it builds up faster. My old hive was extremely strong. I made sure to leave some frame with eggs in the old hive. II checked and there were no swarm cells. I checked it after four days, but did not see a new queen cell being started.BEES FORAGING SOIL

When they collect water they lap up the water on the wet rocks. They don't usually drink from the standing water between the rocks. I suspect your bees are drinking from the wet soil in a similar way. HOW MUCH HONEY IS IN A MED SUPER? Math, Honey & Medium Supers. Honey weighs 12 lb per gallon (0.053 lb per cubic inch) Interior dimensions of a medium 10 frame Langstroth Super is 14.75 x 18.375 x 6.625. Frame size 19 x 6.25. PLANS FOR 10-FRAME LANGSTROTH HIVE Start the end boards at the bottom with a notch and don't cut notch at the top where the frame rest is. On the side boards start at the bottom by leaving a finger. You'll end up with a 5/8" wide finger at the top of side board and you clip that back to 3/8" long and it fills the frame rest rabbet and supports the ends of the frame rest flange.BUILD IT YOURSELF

The bees were shaken into packages in Mississippi and then shipped to Kentucky where they were then shipped again to the final customers. W. LENGTH OF TIME FOR HIVE TO START A NEW QUEEN AFTER SPLIT I made a split last Monday and purposely moved the old queen to the new hive with lots of brood and bees so it builds up faster. My old hive was extremely strong. I made sure to leave some frame with eggs in the old hive. II checked and there were no swarm cells. I checked it after four days, but did not see a new queen cell being started.BEES FORAGING SOIL

When they collect water they lap up the water on the wet rocks. They don't usually drink from the standing water between the rocks. I suspect your bees are drinking from the wet soil in a similar way. HOW MUCH HONEY IS IN A MED SUPER? Math, Honey & Medium Supers. Honey weighs 12 lb per gallon (0.053 lb per cubic inch) Interior dimensions of a medium 10 frame Langstroth Super is 14.75 x 18.375 x 6.625. Frame size 19 x 6.25. The brood-nest I selectively cut-and-crush (as a way to recycle/remove the combs anyway). When you use one sheet of paper the bees will chew through in one night, especially if you make a small slit in the center of the paper over the lower box. The standard "bird netting" is 1/2" squares or thereabouts, and bees will have no trouble at all going through it. Birds can't -- I got a real kick out of the mocking birds bouncing off mine this year. However, you only need the netting when the berries start to ripen. WHICH IS BETTER LAYENS OR LONG HORIZONTAL LANGSTROTH HIVE I am a new, soon to be bee keeper. I have built a Horizontal Langstroth Hive based on plans from horizontalhives.com, but now I wonder if this is really the best hive. Just wondering if anyone has heard of this or currently making their own Apivar style strips. Just to be sure my newbee bee-brain isn't over heating We're talking about bees that claim a swarm trap close to the bee yard can't be simply moved along side the other hives because during the selection and inhabiting process of the swarm trap they've already oriented to it's location. The Dadant hive is the biggest of all – so watch your back! The smallest hive is the Smith. Invented and widely used in Scotland.
