TEN BINGE-WORTHY SHOWS THAT GOT US THROUGH THE PANDEMIC Since the COVID-19 lockdowns began about a year ago, we’ve been given a plethora of TV shows to binge on streaming platforms. Whether it was a show returning for a new season, a brand new series, or an old classic making a comeback, there are many new options to choose from. Between numerous streaming platforms, here’s a top 10 list of shows that kept us busy during the pandemic. In March 2020, the stages of Emerson College fell silent for the foreseeable future. One year later, in March 2021, these stages are still just as empty. Fortunately, the college has utilized the stage spaces as new classrooms for students in WHY ARE SO MANY PEOPLE HESITANT TO TAKE THE COVID-19 Biotech company Moderna announced the final results of the 30,000-person efficacy trial for its candidate in a press release on Nov 30. Only 11 people who received two doses of the vaccine developed COVID-19 symptoms after being infected with the coronavirus, versus 185 symptomatic cases in a placebo group. This is when volunteers are randomly assigned to either a test group receiving the AUSTIN LOPES HONORED BY EMERSON AFTER DYING OF CANCER Austin Lopes, a rising junior majoring in visual and media arts, died of cancer on May 8 surrounded by his friends and family, President M. Lee Pelton announced in a Thursday afternoon email. Lopes entered Emerson in 2019 following his diagnosis as a FRATERNITY AND SORORITY LIFE NAVIGATE THE SEMESTER UNDER Fall is typically the peak semester for fraternity and sorority life on campus, who usually welcome a new member class through recruitment events. But this year, as yet another consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic, FSL organizations are forced to reevaluate their recruitment strategies to accommodate social distancing guidelines imposed by thecollege.

Cases statewide have plummeted in EMERSON REPORTS NO NEW POSITIVE COVID-19 TESTS Since summer testing began, Emerson has reported one positive test out of the 1,386 tests administered. The spring semester testing cycle concluded with 169 positive COVID-19 tests reported and a positivity rate of 0.21 percent, compared to the 60 MASSACHUSETTS REPORTS 177 NEW CORONAVIRUS CASES Massachusetts reported 177 new coronavirus cases Friday, down from the 241 cases reported Thursday. The death toll rose by 10. Friday’s report marks the fourth time this week cases have dipped under 200 — a mark not seen since last June. Cases statewide have plummeted in STUDENTS' MENTAL HEALTH STRUGGLES PERSIST AS PANDEMIC Students are continuing to struggle with their mental health one year into living through a pandemic, with the cumulative effects of COVID-19 taking a toll on their social, academic, and financial wellbeing.
