BIBLICAL DISCIPLINE
In this second article in our series on domestic discipline, we will be looking at the 19 th century suffragette (feminist) view of domestic discipline. To do this we will look at two primary sources. The first is the Declaration of Sentiments which was issued from the first woman’s rights conference in 1848 in Seneca Falls, New York. THE TEN DUTIES OF A CHRISTIAN HUSBAND Below are ten duties that the Bible shows every Christian husband has toward his wife. Provide for Her – Ephesians 5:27-28 tells us that husbands are to “nourish” or literally provide for the physical needs of their wife as they do their own bodies. Webster’s dictionary defines a slave as “a person held in servitude as the chattel of another”. The word ‘chattle’ refers to a human being that is owned by another human being. By our modern definition of slavery, we cannot comprehend the concept of a person being owned by another person without that owned person notbeing a slave.
On one side of this debate about the Biblical treatment of wives we have Christians who claim that there is absolutely no similarity at all between the husband/wife relationship and that of a slave owner to his slave while on the other side we have atheists and other humanists who claim that the Bible makes women into slaves. What do both of these sides have in common? Jesus said it best in the Gospel ofMatthew:
_“Jesus answered and said unto them, YE DO ERR, NOT KNOWING THE SCRIPTURES, nor the power of God.”_ _Matthew 22:29 (KJV)_ The truth is that the Scriptures teach us that is possible for one person to own another person without that owned person being considered a slave. In other words, from a Biblical perspective while all slaves are owned by other people, not all people who are owned by other people are to be considered slaves. WIVES AND CHILDREN DESIGNATED BY GOD AS PROPERTY AND SLAVES ALLOWED ASPROPERTY
The Bible shows us that God designed two social classes of human beings that were to be considered the property of men. He allowed a third social class of human being that could also be taken as property as well under certain circumstances. In the 10th commandment God mentions a man’s wife, along with his male and female slaves amongst those things which are his property: _“Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet THY NEIGHBOUR’S WIFE, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, NOR ANY THING THAT IS THY NEIGHBOUR’S.”_ _Exodus 20:17 (KJV)_ In the following passage we see that God gives children to their fathers as property: _“3 LO, CHILDREN ARE AN HERITAGE OF THE LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. 4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. 5 HAPPY IS THE MAN THAT HATH HIS QUIVER FULL OF THEM: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.”_ _Psalm 127:3-5 (KJV)_ The English word “heritage” is a translation of the Hebrew word “Nachala” which literally means “inherited property”. God authorized Israelite fathers to sell their daughters as indentured servants for a period of no longer than six years. This is shown in the following passages: _“7And if a man sell his daughter to be a maidservant, she shall not go out as the menservants do. 8 If she please not her master, who hath betrothed her to himself, then shall he let her be redeemed: to sell her unto a strange nation he shall have no power, seeing he hath dealt deceitfully with her.”_ _Exodus 21:7-8 (KJV)_ _“And if thy brother, an Hebrew man, or an Hebrew woman, be sold unto thee, and serve thee six years; then in the seventh year thou shalt let him go free from thee.”_ _Deuteronomy 15:12 (KJV)_ The passages above show that neither male nor female Hebrew indentured servants could be kept indefinitely unless the male Hebrew willingly wanted to stay and serve (see Exodus 21:5-6) or the woman was taken as a wife by the man who purchased her either for himself or one of his sons. Otherwise after 6 years male Hebrew indentured servants had to be freed and female Hebrew indentured servants had to be allowed to be purchased back by their male relatives or by another man wishing to take them as a wife. And for those who think these daughters sold as maidservants could be used for sex outside a covenant of marriage, I would refer the reader to the following prohibition against fathers selling their daughtersfor this purpose:
_“Do not prostitute thy daughter, to cause her to be a whore; lest the land fall to whoredom, and the land become full of wickedness.”_ _Leviticus 19:29 (KJV)_ So, it is clear that God did not allow Hebrews to sell or buy their fellow Hebrews as slaves. They could only could only purchases the services of fellow Hebrews as indentured servants for a limited window of time. However, it is equally clear that God did in fact allow the Hebrews to purchase the children of foreigners within their land as slaves or they could purchase slaves from the nations around them. _“44 Both thy bondmen, and thy bondmaids, which thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen that are round about you; of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids. 45 Moreover of the children of the strangers that do sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy, and of their families that are with you, which they begat in your land: AND THEY SHALL BE YOUR POSSESSION. 46 And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit them for a possession; they shall be your bondmen for ever: but over your brethren the children of Israel, ye shall not rule one over another with rigour.”_ _Leviticus 25:44-46 (KJV)_ And in the New Testament Paul gives the following command to slaves: _“Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart,fearing God;“_
_Colossians 3:22 (KJV)_ The word “servants” in the KJV passage above is a translation of the Greek word “Doulos” which actually means “slaves” and this is how most of the modern translations translate this verse. This brings us back to wives. We have already shown from the 10th commandment that it includes wives with male and female slaves as the property of men. But the ownership of a husband over his wife is seen even clearer in the original Hebrew language of the Scriptures. The noun form of the Hebrew word ‘baal’ which means ‘owner/master’ is used eleven times in the Old Testament to speak of a husband’s relationship to his wife. The word ‘baal’ is used an additional 11 times in verb form to refer to a woman coming to be ‘owned’, or married, to a husband. The passage below from the book of Deuteronomy uses both the noun and verb form of the Hebrew word baal to illustrate a husband’s ownership over his wife: _“If a man be found lying with a woman married to an husband , then they shall both of them die, both the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shalt thou put away evil from Israel.”_ _Deuteronomy 22:22 (KJV)_ In the New Testament the Apostle Peter refers back to this concept of a woman being owned by her husband when he admonishes wives to follow the example of the women of past generations like Sarah who “obeyed” her husband calling him “lord”: _“5 For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands: 6 EVEN AS SARA OBEYED ABRAHAM, CALLING HIM LORD: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with anyamazement.”_
_I Peter 3:5-6 (KJV)_ Now having proven from the Bible that wives are actually considered by God to be property just as slaves are, we will go on to show that the responsibilities of owners toward these two types of human propertiesare very different.
8 BIBLICAL DIFFERENCES BETWEEN WIVES AND SLAVES As we have previously shown from Exodus 20:17 and Leviticus 25:44-46, wives and slaves are both considered by God to be the property of men. And both wives and slaves are commanded by God to obey their masters in everything as Colossians 3:22, Ephesians 5:24, 1 Peter 3:5-6 tells them to do. But this is where the similarity between wives and slaves ends and the differences begin. Below are eight Biblical distinctions between wivesand slaves.
1. SLAVE OWNERS DON’T HAVE TO SACRIFICE THEMSELVES FOR THEIR PROPERTY – HUSBANDS DO. _“25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, AND GAVE HIMSELF FOR IT“_ _Ephesians 5:25 (KJV)_ 2. SLAVE OWNERS DON’T HAVE TO TEACH GOD’S WORD TO THEIR PROPERTY – HUSBANDS DO. _“AND IF THEY WILL LEARN ANY THING, LET THEM ASK THEIR HUSBANDS AT HOME: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.“_ _1 Corinthians 14:35 (KJV)_ 3. SLAVE OWNERS DON’T HAVE TO ACT AS HUMAN INSTRUMENTS OF GOD’S SANCTIFICATION IN THE LIVES OF THEIR PROPERTY – HUSBANDS DO. _“26 THAT HE MIGHT SANCTIFY AND CLEANSE IT WITH THE WASHING OF WATER BY THE WORD, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.”_ _Ephesians 5:26-27 (KJV)_ 4. SLAVE OWNERS DON’T HAVE TO LOVE AND CARE FOR THEIR PROPERTY AS THEY DO THEIR OWN BODIES – HUSBANDS DO. _“28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; BUT NOURISHETH AND CHERISHETH IT, even as the Lord thechurch“_

SLAVE OWNERS DON’T HAVE TO GIVE THEIR BODIES TO MEET THE SEXUAL NEEDS OF THEIR PROPERTY (NOR SHOULD THEY) – HUSBANDS DO. _“3 LET THE HUSBAND RENDER UNTO THE WIFE DUE BENEVOLENCE: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. 4 The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also THE HUSBAND HATH NOT POWER OF HIS OWN BODY, BUT THE WIFE.”_ _I Corinthians 7:3-4 (KJV)_ 6. SLAVE OWNERS DON’T HAVE TO HONOR THEIR PROPERTY – HUSBANDS DO. _“Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, GIVING HONOUR UNTO THE WIFE, AS UNTO THE WEAKER VESSEL, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be nothindered.“_

7. SLAVE OWNERS DON’T HAVE TO GIVE THEIR PROPERTY THE FRUIT OF THEIR LABORS – HUSBANDS DO. _“GIVE HER OF THE FRUIT OF HER HANDS; and let her own works praise her in the gates.“_ _Proverbs 31:31 (KJV)_ 8. GOD DID NOT DESIGN MEN TO BE THE PROPERTY OF OTHER MEN. GOD DID DESIGN WOMEN TO BE THE PROPERTY OF THEIR HUSBANDS. _“7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. 8 For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man. 9 NEITHER WAS THE MAN CREATED FOR THE WOMAN; BUT THE WOMAN FOR THE MAN. 10 FOR THIS CAUSE OUGHT THE WOMAN TO HAVE POWER ON HER HEAD BECAUSE OF THE ANGELS.“_ _1 Corinthians 11:7-10 (KJV)_CONCLUSION
We have shown conclusively from the Bible that contrary to modern humanist notions of equality, God has actually designated wives and children as the property of their husbands and fathers. And again, contrary to modern egalitarian views of what marriage should be, God commands wives to regard their husbands as their masters and like slaves to be obedient to their masters in everything. The obvious exception for both wives and slaves in their obedience is if their masters command them to sin against God. It is only in this case that they can and must disobey their masters as Acts 5:29 tells us. The truth from the Scriptures is that there are indeed some similarities between wives and slaves but there are also significant differences between wives and slaves. God created the relationship between a husband and wife to mirror the loving relationship between himself and his people. A wife is to be regarded as her husband’s most precious possession, one that he cares for and would protect with his very life. Another significant difference between wives and slaves is husbands as their wife’s owner and master are required by God to give their wife the fruit of her labors as Proverbs 31:31 states. A slave is not entitled to enjoy any fruits from his labors. Now this principle must be taken into account with the entire witness of the Scriptures. In Ephesians 5:24 wives are commanded to submit to their husbands in “everything”. And yes, that would most certainly include finances. Every dollar that comes into their home comes under the spiritual authority of the husband whether that is income from his work, his wife’s work or inheritances that either of them may acquire. Even if the wife does not work outside the home but instead is a keeper in the home her work there has great value. What this means is that whether a wife works outside the home or is a keeper of the home the husband should allow his wife to have fruits from her labor. Practically speaking that means allowing her some discretionary use of money to buy things for the house or herself personally that she would like to buy. Finally, on the topic of slavery. It is only because of the effects of sin in the world that God allowed for the practice of slavery but he commanded it to be done under humane conditions. WHY PUBLISH SUCH A SAD STORY? Lately I have been absolutely flooded with emails from MGTOWs. Stories like this one from Mark feed right into their beliefs of why the modern feminized form of marriage is so bad for men. It would have been easier not to publish this man’s story knowing the MGTOW reactions it would get. I am sure I will get many MGTOWs writing me saying “yeah there’s a lesson there and the lesson is men should not get married”. The Christian feminists reading Mark’s story will come away with another lesson. In their view Mark just needs to go back to where he was before he discovered what the Bible says about the roles of husbands and wives. He needs to just do what his wife said and work on his “communication style” and “hear her” better. And of course, his wife mentioned the Christian feminist and humanists’ favorite word which is CONSENT. And when all else fails, Mark should just fall back into the appeasement mode with his wife, because after all “Happy Wife” = “Happy Life” right? But despite the predictable reactions I knew would come from the Christian feminists on my left flank and the MGTOWs on my right flank I really felt the Lord leading me to publish this man’s story and he is right that there are lessons that can be learned from his story not just for other men, but for Mark himself. Before I get into the lessons that can be learned as well as advice in dealing with this kind of marital situation Mark faces, I just want to make a few things crystal clear. The philosophies of MGTOW on the right and Christian Feminism on the left are unbiblical philosophies. See my previous articles “Was Jesus Christ a Feminist?”

Also, in regard to the false humanist philosophy of “consent” please see my previous article “It is Not a Woman’s Consent That Matters, It is God’s”.
With that being said lets first tackle some lessons that can be learned from Mark’s story and then I will give some advice based on Biblical principles for a husband dealing with a contentious and angrywife.
LESSON #1 – WE MUST CONTINUE TO SPEAK OUT AGAINST ERROR IN OUR CHURCHES AND OUR HOMES What Mark did in challenging his Pastors and teachers at his church as well as his wife in his home is exactly what we as Christian husbands are called to do as seen in the Scripture below: _“2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”_ _2 Timothy 4:2-4 (KJV)_ I know that Mark is feeling discouraged after doing just what this passage commands and not seeing the results he expected. But it is not the results that matter, but only our obedience to God’s commands. God is the only one who can truly change the hearts of men and women, we are only his messengers. LESSON #2 – WHILE PREACHING AGAINST ERROR WE MUST NOT ADD TO THEGOSPEL
We who still believe in, practice and defend the doctrines of Biblical gender roles must remember how the Gospel is presented in theScriptures:
_“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made untosalvation.”_
_Romans 10:9-10 (KJV)_ _“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” _ _I Corinthians 15:1-4 (KJV)_ The Gospel is clear in the Bible. If we believe that Jesus Christ is Lord, that he was the sinless Son of God in human flesh and that he died for our sins and rose again we will ARE saved. We have passed from death to life. The following Scripture passage actually describes the process by which we come to trust in Christ and aresaved:
_“12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.”_ _Ephesians 1:12-14 (KJV)_ We heard the Gospel, believed the Gospel and then we were sealed with the Holy Spirit which is our guarantee that one day we will see our Savior face to face. And our belief in the Gospel and the subsequent indwelling of the Holy Spirit has a transforming effect on our lives as the Scriptures state below: _“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new”_ _2 Corinthians 5:17_ But the Apostle Paul tells us of the sad reality that there will always be divisions in the church, whether it be on a local level or on a universal church level: _“18 For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it. 19 For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.”_ _1 Corinthians 11:18-19 (KJV)_ And this is why God gave us the various church offices and spiritualgifts:
_“11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ”_ _Ephesians 4:11-13 (KJV)_ This is why we have different Christian denominations. This is why even within each Christian denomination we have opposing schools of thought on many different doctrines whether it is the interpretation or application of such doctrines. So, there are two extremes. One is to say “Unless you agree with me on every doctrinal interpretation and application of the Bible then you are not saved and you have no business calling yourself a Christian”. The other extreme is to say “No one knows what is right or wrong and no Christian should ever teach that another Christian’s behavior or interpretation or application of the Bible is wrong”. We as Bible believing Christians can and should call out unchristian behavior and false interpretations of the Bible by other people who call themselves Christians. And we can do so without questioning their faith and trust in Jesus Christ. So, we can rightly and vehemently condemn the false philosophies of Christian feminism and MGTOW without saying Christians who believe in these philosophies could not possibly be Christians. This is a very important distinction that must be made. To say that a Christian must have no blind spots and have the correct interpretation of every passage and doctrine of the Bible is to add to the Gospel and we have no right to do that. The next logical question that could be asked in this would be “How then can we know that we are correctly understanding and applying all the Scriptures relating to gender roles? Or in other words how can we know that the traditional understanding of Christian gender roles wasright?”
The answer can be found in one Scripture passage we already mentioned and another passage we have not mentioned: _“For there must be also heresies among you, that THEY WHICH ARE APPROVED MAY BE MADE MANIFEST AMONG YOU.”_ _1 Corinthians 11:19 (KJV)_ _“The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. BUT WISDOM IS JUSTIFIED OF HER CHILDREN.”_ _Matthew 11:19 (KJV)_ The Bible tells us that their must be false interpretations of doctrines in the Bible so that the true interpretations of the Bible can be clearly seen as right and approved by God. And Jesus said “Wisdom is justified by her children” or in other words our correct interpretation and application of the Bible can often be proven by the results that it yields. And what has abandoning the traditional gender roles based on the Biblical passages regarding gender roles produced? Has it been shown to be something that God approves of? The fact that divorce rates shot up from about 3 percent to almost 50 percent, sex outside of marriage became common place, and millions of babies have been slaughtered under the banner of “women’s rights” shows us God does not approve of the modern liberal and feminist interpretation that there are no more gender roles for Christians. And truly Feminism has not been justified by her children. LESSON #3 – THE SEEKER SENSITIVE CHURCH PHILOSOPHY IS NOT APPROVEDBY GOD
And this brings us to the third lesson we can take from Mark’s story. The seeker sensitive church is not approved by God nor has the children that this movement has produced proven it to be wise. The seeker sensitive church movement is based on false interpretation of Scripture passages like the one below: _“21 To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. 22 To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.”_ _1 Corinthians 9:21-22 (KJV)_ Basically, what churches are doing is they are setting up their churches to be as “non-offensive” to non-believers and even professing believers as they can so that they can “by all means save some”. Many of these churches have completely stopped preaching against homosexuality or even sex outside of marriage. Many of them don’t even preach against sin at all. A lot of them just basically preach “self-help” messages that you could find outside of church. And they have lots of fun activities for children, teens andadults.
Now some of these seeker-sensitive churches don’t completely abandon all the doctrines of the Bible. They might even say like Mark’s church that the Bible is the Word of God and they may even preach that Jesus is the only way to salvation. But what all these seeker-sensitive churches have in common is that they all have completely and utterly abandoned the doctrines of Biblical gender roles. Every single one of them. You show me a church that has abandoned the doctrine of Biblical gender roles and I will show you a seeker-sensitive church. And Mark is absolutely right that many of these churches claim to be “Bible believing” and they even proudly wear the label “Conservative” while still utterly abandoning all teaching on Biblical gender roles in an effort to please both unbelievers and professing Christians that come to their churches. And what have these churches produced? They have produced a lot of people who are not even true believers and of those that are true believers they remain babes in Christ. They remain this way because they are never given the meat of God’s Word. And what else has this seeker sensitive church movement produced? It has produced wide scale divorce within the churches. It is a shame before God that Christians in America have the same divorce rate as non-believers and in some surveys it shows higher. Now for those secularists who say “see the traditionalist Christian philosophy of marriage does not work” let me help you out. First secularists don’t marry at the same rate that Christians or religious people in general do. There is a lot more long-term cohabitation amongst secularists than Christians. So, since Christians marry younger and at higher rates the chance of divorce would higher because the incidence of marriage is higher. But what is the reason for the higher divorce rate amongst Christians? It is for the very fact that the Christians who divorce were NOT following Biblical gender roles. If a man is loving his wife by leading her, providing for her needs, protecting her, correcting and teaching her as Christ does his church and the wife loves her husband, submits to her husband in everything and reverences her husband and she takes care of the needs of the home they won’t get divorced. You show me a Christian couple that got divorced and I will show you a Christian couple that may have started doing these things, but one or both of them began to fail in doing these things God has commanded. And even when failings occur, God has not granted the concept of no-fault divorce. There are limited reasons for which God allows divorce and the vast majority of Christian divorces do not take place for reasons God allows. Again, I will refer the reader back to what the Apostle Paul told Timothy. We are called to preach God’s Word, all of God’s Word even if some parts are not popular in our culture. Now we will move from the “lessons learned” to speaking to how Mark and other Christians should deal with a contentious and angrywife.
HOW SHOULD MARK DEAL WITH HIS CONTENTIOUS AND ANGRY WIFE? First and foremost, this is not just a contentious and angry wife that Mark is dealing with. This is a wife who sexually denies her husband. Now in many cases a contentious and angry wife is also a wife who sexually denies her husband. But this is not always the case. I know of many a Christian man whose wife will give him her body, even if it is grudgingly given, in order to keep him in the marriage while still maintaining her contentious and angry spirit. So, I will say from the beginning that sexual denial, on either the part of the woman or the man, is one of the few reasons for which God allows divorce. for more on those subjects. Here is the truth of the matter though, even if a wife is sexually denying her husband there are some men who just do not feel that God wants them to divorce their wife. Others feel they must stay with their wife for the benefit of their children. And still others are afraid to leave for fear of the financial devastation it will cause them. We can see in Mark’s story that he seriously considered divorce from his wife but he saw the damage it would cause to himself personally as well as his children. We can also see in the story of Mark’s 16-year marriage and especially the last 2 years that he has tried the following fourapproaches:
* DIRECTLY CONFRONTING HIS WIFE BY SHOWING HER FROM THE BIBLE SHEWAS WRONG.
* COUNSELING SESSIONS WITH CHURCH LEADERS WHO TOLD HIM HE WAS WRONG IN HIS INTERPRETATION OF THE BIBLE. * THE SILENT TREATMENT.* APPEASEMENT.
And from this email we have shown here, as well as other subsequent emails I have received from Mark none of these approaches have worked to change his wife’s behavior nor helped her to recognize the errorof her ways.
So lets talk about his approach that he has settled back into and thatis appeasement.
APPEASEMENT ON THE PART OF A HUSBAND TOWARD HIS CONTENTIOUS AND ANGRY WIFE MAY BRING PEACE, BUT IT IS PEACE AT THE EXPENSE OF OBEDIENCE TOGOD.
God calls husbands in Ephesians 5:25-27 to love their wives _“even as Christ also loved the church”_ and we see that Christ’s love for his church is seen in his washing his wife’s spiritual spots and wrinkles with the Word of God. This concept again is seen in Christ speaking to his churches when he states in Revelation 3:19 _“As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent”_. So, we can rightly say that a husband who does not rebuke and discipline his wife is a husband who is in disobedience to God’s command to husbands to love their wives as Christ loves his Church. And a husband like Mark who is dealing with this kind of wife is a perfect example of how a man must sometimes sacrifice his own happiness to do spiritual battle in his home. The easier and the less painful approach in many cases is to take the path of appeasement. But this is not an option for a Christian husband. My recommendation in these cases is to use the same approach God used with his wife Israel in the Old Testament. First, he confronted her sin and rebuked her for it calling her to repentance. After she utterly refused to repent (as your wife has done) then he engaged in the silent treatment toward Israel as I recently wrote about.
Mark might say “I tried that but she went nuts”. Let me ask you a question. If your child threw a temper fit whenever they did not get what they wanted would it be ok for you to appease them so they would not throw a fit? The answer is no. And the same answer goes for your wife when she throws a temper fit. When she starts doing that leave the house. Get your keys, get in the car and leave. Go some place and park for a couple hours and just take a nice nap in the car. Or go to a park and enjoy the peace. Sometimes it might be so bad that you just need to find a friend or relatives house to stay at for the night. Remember how the Bible advises men to deal with contentious and angrywomen?
_“It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.”_ _Proverbs 21:19 (KJV)_ In other words, it is better to live out of your car than in a house with contentious and angry wife. And one other thing I would like to add. You need to be VERY consistent in your disciplinary approach with your wife just as you need to be very consistent in your disciplinary approach with your children. So, the approach is, you rebuke her and she fails to repent and just keeps arguing with you then you walk away and engage in the silent treatment. If she becomes violent you leave the home for a few hours or even for the evening. This consistent behavior toward her will result in one of three actions on her part: * SHE WILL COMPLETELY CHANGE HER BEHAVIOR. * SHE WILL FILE FOR DIVORCE. * SHE WILL AT LEAST STOP THE RAGING SO YOU WON’T LEAVE. And if she does file for divorce – I would highly recommend that you speak to multiple attorneys. There are a lot of bad divorce attorneys out there. You need to find a good attorney that specializes in divorce from a man’s perspective. You also need to get recordings of her raging as that will not play well in divorcecourt for her.

Within a span of less than 24 hours two terrorists coming from polar opposite political ideologies sought to terrorize the civilian population of the United States leaving 31 people dead and about 50 injured. The first terrorist to strike was a 21-year-old white supremacist named Patrick Crusius on Saturday just after 10:30 AM. He drove 10 hours from Allen, Texas to El Paso, Texas to carry out his heinous act of terrorism in Walmart where he opened fire with an AK-47 rifle killing 20 and wounding 26 more. Then in less than 24 hours after just 1 A.M. a 24-year-old Antifa supporter and self-proclaimed “leftist” named Connor Betts killed 9 people and wounded 27 othersin Dayton, Ohio.
About 20 minutes before Patrick Crusius launched his terrorist attack on the Walmart in El Paso, Texas he posted his manifesto online as to why he was doing it. His reason could be summed in the following statement from his manifesto: “THIS ATTACK IS A RESPONSE TO THE HISPANIC INVASION OF TEXAS. THEY ARE THE INSTIGATORS, NOT ME. I AM SIMPLY DEFENDING MY COUNTRY FROM CULTURAL AND ETHNIC REPLACEMENT BROUGHT ON BY AN INVASION… MAKES NO SENSE TO KEEP ON LETTING MILLIONS OF ILLEGAL OR LEGAL IMMIGRANTS FLOOD INTO THE UNITED STATES, AND TO KEEP THE TENS OF MILLIONS THAT AREALREADY HERE.”
Patrick Crusius purposefully targeted El Paso because he knew that it was 80 percent Hispanic and he wanted to make sure he killed Hispanics. As of this morning 2 more victims have died bringing the death toll to 22 PEOPLE killed by this murderer. He stated his dismay toward both Republicans and Democrats for theirinaction.
In the manifesto he would later go on to say that it would be unrealistic to have all non-whites leave the United States and that instead the United States would have to eventually be broken up into different territories for the various races in order to keep unity among the various peoples. But he was not consistent in his ideology either. He supported the concept of a universal basic income to offset people losing their jobs due to automation and he also spoke of his concerns over the destruction of the environment – both of which are leftistpositions.

managed to scrape Connor Betts Twitter posts before Twitter took his account down. He made statements like the following: “KILL EVERY FASCIST” “I WANT SOCIALISM, AND I’LL NOT WAIT FOR THE IDIOTS TO FINALLY COME ROUND TO UNDERSTANDING”. Betts was a Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders supporter as well. Connor Betts agreed with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s assessment of ice detention centers as “concentration camps” and stated “Cut the fences down. Slice ICE tires. Throw bolt cutters over thefences”.
The commonality we can see in both these cases is that both these killers sought to terrorize the citizens of the United States to bring attention to their political views and causes. TERRORISM IS NEVER RIGHT After the Charlottesville in August of 2017 I wrote an article entitled “We must denounce White, Black, Antifa and Muslim Terrorism”
and in that I spoke of the fact that terrorists come from many different races, religious and political backgrounds. In that article I gave the following definition of Terrorism: > “Terrorism is when a person or group of persons attempts to bring > about a desired political or social change by specifically targeting > the civilian population of the region in which they hope to bring > about a change. Terrorists attempt to “terrorize” the civilian > population into pressuring their political leaders to make the > changes they want.>
> It needs to be made clear that terrorism is not simply a person or > group killing people in order to scare others into bowing to their > demands. Terrorism also occurs in the form the threats or > intimidation of the demands of certain group are not met.>

I will restate here exactly what I said after Charlottesville in 2017: While the right of self-defense is Biblical – TERRORISM IS NEVER RIGHT. It is never right to use various means to terrorize the civilian population of any region to try and pressure the people to pressure their leaders to change laws and policies to please a certaingroup.
SOCIALISM, CAPITALISM, NATIONALISM, VIOLENT VIDEO GAMES AND GUNS ARE NOT THE CAUSE OF TERRORISM We have heard already and will continue to hear in the days and weeks to come that Donald Trump and anyone who believes that the people of United States have a right to determine who comes into their country are the cause of the massacre which occurred in El Paso, Texas on Saturday. We will also hear how gun rights and violent video games caused this massacre as well. But the fact is we who believe in the concepts of nationalism and national sovereignty and the right to keep and bear arms are no more responsible for what happened in El Paso than Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren or Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez were responsible for what occurred in Dayton, Ohio. So, what caused these deaths in both El Paso and Dayton? Two things. THE FIRST IS MENTAL INSTABILITY. A mentally stable person does not go out and shoot up a crown of innocent people whether to make a political point or just make a name for himself. THE SECOND IS THE IDEOLOGIES OF WHITE SUPREMACISTS AND ANTIFA. Both groups believe in using violence to achieve their political goals. White Supremacist groups believe in using violence in an attempt to intimidate minorities in America. Antifa believes in using violence to silence nationalists, conservatives and any other group which does not support their globalist and socialist goals. MY POSITION ON THE ISSUE OF RACE Anyone who has read this blog for a long length of time knows that I have written extensively on the topic of race. We as Christians cannot avoid it and we cannot sweep it under the rug. Victor Davis Hanson in his article for the National Review – “America: History’s Exception”

I believe, like nations of the past that attempted to “unite diverse tribes” we too have “fared poorly”. We had a civil war and multiple riots and societal upheavals over the issue of race inAmerica.
Whites have attacked Blacks and Hispanics, and Black and Hispanics have attacked Whites for many years. And it is absolutely true that racially based crimes have spiked in recent years and the vast majority of those has been committed by whites against racialminorities.
But the question is this, is this because of Donald Trump or somethingelse?
In High schools, colleges and universities Whites are attacked under the guise of “Whiteness” programs. Whites have been bombarded now for several years with major news outlets telling them things like “The US white majority will soondisappear forever

And let us not forget the targeted assassinations of predominately white police officers in 2016. All of these kinds of events in recent years are like kindling in the furnace of White Supremist groups and this why the attacks from these groups have increased. Again, it must be stated that these things I have just mentioned do NOT justify such attacks or make them right inanyway.
It has been wisely said that life is 10 percent, what happens to you and 90 percent how you react to it. Some Whites react to the attacks on Whites, “Whiteness”, “White Privilege” and proclamations of the coming demise of the White majority in America with jubilee and celebration. Others like White Supremacist groups lash out in violence. The overwhelming majority of Whites remain silent for fear of being associated with violent White supremacist groups. And a small minority of Whites, of whom I am one, speak out against both White supremacists as well as those who attack Whites simply for not being ashamed of their ancestry or wanting their ethnicity to continue to thrive in America. Think about this for a minute. If any white person expresses even the least concern about their shrinking numbers in America, or if a white person encourages other people to have more children because their fertility rates have been lower – that person is denounced as aWhite Supremacist.
In other words, the only way to not be called a White supremacist today is if you are totally cool with the White population in America shrinking and you vehemently condemn “whiteness” and “whiteprivilege

DO I THINK LIKE WHITE SUPREMACISTS AND WHITE NATIONALISTS THAT AMERICANS OF NORTHERN EUROPEAN DECENT HAVE SOME DIVINE RIGHT FROM GOD TO BE THE MAJORITY ETHNIC GROUP IN AMERICA? OF COURSE NOT! But then let’s ask another question. While no group has some divine right on America, does every ethnic group in America have the right to encourage its ethnicity to grow by having more children? The answer is YES. Yet in America every ethnic group in America can try to encourage its growth except whites. For whites to do so is racist and evil. There is no logic in such condemnation. And this also goes to political concerns. It is a well-known fact that various ethnic groups tend to cluster in the neighborhoods in which they choose to live, the people whom they choose to date and marry, the churches they attend and even which political party they vote for. Even in large liberal cities which are by far the most multiracial areas, if you go down to the neighborhood level there is almost always a majority race in that neighborhood. If you don’t believe me just check out all these facts I have listed from multiple university and other sources that studied racial segregation as it still exists in America today. In other words, most people marry someone of their own race, most people attend a church whose overwhelming majority is their race, most people tend to live in neighborhoods that are mostly their own race and when people vote they tend to vote with their race. And in America most minority groups tend to vote as a block for liberal, progressive and big government policies while a large majority of whites tend to vote for more conservative policies. So, the racial divide is very much a political ideology divide aswell.
But now I want to relate this back to Patrick Crusius and the terrorist act he committed in El Paso on Saturday. Again, whether we are White, Conservative, Republican, Nationalist, 2nd Amendment believers or if we share any societal or political concerns that this madman had this does not mean our concerns are evil because this man committed an evil act based on some of those same concerns. We can be ashamed of what he did without be ashamed what we believeand who we are.
CONCLUSION
In Ecclesiastes 3:4 the Bible tells us that there is _“__A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance”_. We should weep and mourn for those who lost loved ones in both these heinous terrorist acts. We as Bible believing Christians should absolutely support our government in what will be a greatly increased battle against White supremacists who would seek to commit heinous acts of terrorism like Patrick Crusius did this last Saturday. And that means as Whites, as Conservatives, as Republicans and as Nationalists if we hear someone threatening to commit an act of terror, we should immediately report it to the police or FBI. And we can only hope that those on the left will report suspected Antifa terrorists and that the FBI will pursue Antifa terrorists like Connor Betts with the same vigor. “Is marriage worth bothering with? I’m surrounded by mediocre marriages; I don’t see anyone or at best very few who have a marriage that I would want to have. My sister has been married a short time and she tells me how hard it is and it seems like so much difficulty with so little reward.” The preceding statement comes from a comment I recently received from a man calling himself AngloSaxon. And to be honest a great majority of men in our modern western countries find themselves asking this same question for the same reasons that AngloSaxon has. Men sought out marriage throughout the history of world to be able to have a companion with which they could share their lives. But the companionship that men sought with women was not the same as the companionship they sought with other men. They did not seek out women as equal partners, but rather they sought out women for things male companionship could not offer them. They sought out things in women they could not find in men. They sought out women so that they could be looked up to, respected and needed for their ability to provide and protect. They sought out female companionship for the visual and physical pleasure women could give them and the fact that women could bear and care for their children and thus help them continue their family lines. They sought female companionship to have someone to care for the domestic needs of their homes to free them to go out into the world and make their mark on it knowing their female companion had everything in order back at their home. But this entire dynamic of marriage with women desiring men for their provision and protection was totally upended by feminist movements in America and other western nations which began in the 19th century. Many women in our post-feminist culture do not seek out men in marriage for their provision and their protection. Rather they seek out men simply for “FRIENDSHIP” and to have someone to “THATMAKES ME LAUGH”.
And many women today do not enter marriage in order to give their husbands sexual pleasure or bear their children or to serve the needs of their husband’s home. But rather they come into marriage to beserved by men.
So the modern state of male/female relationships is that many men have been robbed of their purpose and their desires in marriage and they have come under what one of America’s founding fathers, John Adams, warned of if women were ever given equal rights with men and that is the “DESPOTISM OF THE PETTICOAT” or in other words the “DESPOTISM OF WOMEN”. And since women came to dominate male/female relationships with the abandonment of courtship and the embrace of the new concept of “dating” in late 19th and early 20th centuries marriage as an institution has been severely decimated. Before the political feminist movements of the mid 19th century divorce rates were THREE PERCENT. As men gave more and more control to women over dating and marriage divorce rates began to skyrocket and eventually peak at OVER FIFTY PERCENT by the mid 1980s (with women being the initiators in seventy percent of divorces). Everything I have just stated may seem like a dark and dreary outlook of marriage and male/female relationships in our Postfeminist culture. But we as Christians do not have the option of loosing hope in God’s institution of marriage. God does not give us the right to give up on the very first human relationship he ever establishedwhich was marriage.
WHY MARRIAGE IS WORTH BOTHERING WITH Marriage is absolutely “worth bothering with” because God has commanded it. And why has he commanded it? He has commanded it as part of his larger reason for making man and woman in the Garden of Eden. 1 Corinthians 11:7-9 in its divine commentary on the creation accountstates:
_“7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as HE IS THE IMAGE AND GLORY OF GOD: BUT THE WOMAN IS THE GLORY OF THE MAN._ _8 For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man._ _9 NEITHER WAS THE MAN CREATED FOR THE WOMAN; BUT THE WOMAN FOR THEMAN.”_
Men and women were given life and given their shared human traits for different reasons. God gave man his human traits along with additional masculine traits so that man bring glory to God by imaging him with his life. Literally man was created to live out God’s attributes. That is why men are called to be leaders, providers and protectors to their wives and children and to image God as husband to their wives and image God as a father to their children. Women were not given their common human traits with men for this same purpose. They were given their humanity in order to be a helper and companion to man they were purposefully made as “the weaker vessel” as 1 Peter 3:7 states so that they would need man’s leadership, provision and protection as all mankind needs God’s leadership, provision and protection. SO IT IS FOR THIS REASON THAT MARRIAGE IS SO MUCH MORE THAN ABOUT OUR PERSONAL HAPPINESS OR HAVING FUN. Marriage was designed by God as an extension of his purpose for creating male human beings so that they could full image him in all his attributes – and to do this they need someone to lovingly lead, provide for and protect and thus hemade woman.
So its not about what you or I want or what sounds like fun or if it sounds difficult. It is about obeying God’s first command tomankind:
_“And God blessed them, and God said unto them, BE FRUITFUL, AND MULTIPLY, AND REPLENISH THE EARTH, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”_ _Genesis 1:28 (KJV)_ God has never rescinded his first command and even in the New Testament the Bible states _“MARRIAGE IS HONOURABLE IN ALL, AND THE BED UNDEFILED”_ (Hebrews 13:4). Marriage is God’s rule for our lives and celibacy is his exception to that rule _“THAT YE MAY ATTEND UPON THE LORD WITHOUT DISTRACTION”_ (1 Corinthians 7:35). In other words, if your reason for not marrying is to serve God in an undivided fashion than your reason for celibacy is honorable and holy before God. If however your reason for celibacy is based in fear or selfishness that you want to just have more money or not risk being hurt by a spouse in marriage than your reason for celibacy is nothonored before God.
Another indicator that celibacy is not for most people is that the vast majority of people have God given desire for intimate companion ship that only marriage can fulfill(whether it be for sex or having children or other reasons) and therefore we can rightly say based upon the Scriptures that _“IT IS BETTER TO MARRY THAN TO BURN”_ (1Corinthians 7:9).
THE FACTS DON’T LIE – MARRIAGE IS BETTER FOR MEN AND SOCIETY Occasionally I will check out various atheist blogs and YouTube channels that critique this blog. What I often find interesting is that they admit something many Christian feminist bloggers will not admit. Some atheist bloggers admit that feminism and women’s equality has been a major blow to this historic institution of marriage. But you know what their response is? We don’t need marriage anymore. Sure, it is fine if you want to, they say, but marriage is no longer needed for a strong and stable society in theirview.
But multiple studies call into question the contention of some atheists that marriage is an outdated societal institution that is nolonger needed.
Bradford Wilcox and Nicholas H. Wolfinger in their article for National Review entitled “Hey Guys, Put a Ring on It”
demonstrate through the results of many studies the positive impact marriage has on men and thus society at large: > “First, let’s consider money. MARRIAGE HAS A TRANSFORMATIVE > EFFECT ON MEN’S FINANCES. AFTER MARRYING, MEN TYPICALLY WORK > HARDER, SMARTER, AND MORE SUCCESSFULLY. They are less likely to be > fired. And they make about $16,000 more than their single peers with > otherwise similar backgrounds. In general, marriage seems to > increase the earning power of men on the order of 10 to 24> percent…

where he made the following conclusion from looking at government statistics on the demographics of those most likely to fall intopoverty:

The facts above clearly show that married men make more money and are more successful in their careers. They lead healthier and more fulfilled lives. Children raised by fathers married to their mothers do better in their education and are less likely to fall into poverty or get involved with crime. So, both the Christian feminists and atheists are wrong. Christian feminists are wrong in denying that feminism has decimated the institution of marriage and atheists are wrong in saying it is OK for marriage to go away and that society no longer needs it.CONCLUSION
Marriage is definitely “worth bothering with” because God commands it and it is part of the very reason, we as both men and women werecreated.
Now does this mean young men must take the first woman that expresses interest in them as a potential husband? Absolutely not! And far too many young men who are insecure with themselves marry the first woman who expresses interest in them. A lot of Christian men marry because they are desperate to have sex and they fail to look closely at the character of the woman they are marrying. Christian men can and should approach women and dating (really it should be courting) with a great deal of Scriptural knowledge of what marriage is about and also prayer as well as discretion. They also should lean on their parents and other wise counsel to know if a woman is of good character and one who would make a good wife to them and a good mother to their children. But the main point is Christian men cannot give up on marriage even it takes many years to find the right woman. Is oral sex in Christian marriage a sin? If it is not a sin is it optional or is it a requirement for Christian husbands and wives inmarriage?
Recently on another article I wrote, totally unrelated to the topic of oral sex, I had a commenter named Trey make the following statement about how a man should require that his wife demonstrate her submission and respect toward him after she has denied him sex simply because she was “not in the mood”. He said she should be required to do this before she would be allowed back in the marriage bed: > “Denial of sex by a wife is the ultimate form of disrespect and > control of her husband. If she has denied you sex (for no good > reason), sex should be required before she is allowed back into your > marriage bed. ORAL SEX WHILE ON HER KNEES BEFORE YOU SEEMS VERY > APPROPRIATE AND SWALLOWING IS A MUST. SPITTING YOU OUT IS ALSO A > FORM OF DISRESPECT.” I then had these comments come in. Lost&Found wrote in response to Trey: > “You say, “Oral sex while on her knees before you seems very > appropriate and swallowing is a must. Spitting you out is also a > form of disrespect.”>

LISA SHOULD > NOT ALLOW HER HUSBAND TO PUT HIS PENIS IN HER MOUTH (OR ANUS FOR > THAT MATTER). This is sodomy or, at best, sodomitic mimicry. HER > HUSBAND’S PENIS AND SEMEN BELONGS IN HER VAGINA NOT HER DIGESTIVE > TRACT. If Lisa is reading this: you are NOT to obey your husband in > this – obey God first.” So, we can definitely see some strong views on the matter of a woman giving her husband oral sex in the three comments I have justmentioned.
With Trey we see the view that a woman a should not only give her husband oral sex, but that she should swallow and not spit out his semen when he finishes. With Lost&Found we see the view that perhaps oral sex is ok for a woman to do for her husband, but that swallowing should not berequired.
With Bruce we see a complete rejection of oral sex and his lumping it in with anal sex and categorizing oral sex and anal sex as Sodomy. He maintains that both a husband’s penis and his semen belong in his wife’s vagina and not “in her digestive tract”. Bruce even went as far as to tell the woman who I was responding to that she should not obey her husband regarding oral sex, but rather obey Godfirst.
So, which of these commenters is right? As always, to find the answer to all moral questions we must first look to the Scriptures. DO THE SCRIPTURES TEACH THAT THE PENIS AND SEMEN MAY ONLY GO IN THEVAGINA?
I am willing to bet that Bruce is most likely Catholic as his view of oral sex is more common among Catholics than any other Christian denomination. The teaching of the Catholic Church is that all sex must be “procreative” or “open to life” or the orgasm must be “genital to genital”. In other words, all sexual relations between a man and his wife must end with his penis ejaculating in hervagina.
Now Catholics differ on whether a woman can orally pleasure her husband and the rule is only that he must finish in her vagina. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE BIBLE NEVER TEACHES THIS DOCTRINE. It is a completely man-made doctrine. Some have wrongly attempted to teach that the story of Onan in the Bible confirms that God only allows sex that is penile-vaginal intercourse and that the man must finish in his wife’s vagina eachand every time:
_“8 And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother’s wife, and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother. 9 And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother’s wife, THAT HE SPILLED IT ON THE GROUND, lest that he should give seed to his brother. 10 And the thing which he did displeased the Lord: wherefore he slew him also.”_ _Genesis 38:8-10 (KJV)_ Onan was not killed simply for spilling his semen on the ground – i.e. “pulling out”. He was killed by God because of WHY he pulled out. He pulled out to avoid impregnating his dead brother’s wife which was his duty before God. So, Genesis 38:8-10 proves nothing in regard to God requiring men to always have penile-vaginal intercourse that ends with an ejaculation in the woman’s vagina. Are oral sex and anal sex for that matter called out as “Sodomy” in the Bible? The answer is no. If you look at the story of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah in Genesis chapter 19 you will find no mention of oral or anal sex. What you will find mentioned is men wanting to have sex with men – homosexuality. Later in the Old Testament you will find the term “sodomite” used like in the following passage: _“There shall be no whore of the daughters of Israel, nor a SODOMITE of the sons of Israel.”_ _Deuteronomy 23:17(KJV)_ The English word “sodomite” is a translation of the Hebrew word “QADESH” which literally means “male prostitute”. So, when we take together the story of Sodom and Gomorrah along with the use of Qadesh what can we say that Sodomy is from a Biblical perspective? It is when men engage in homosexual behavior or prostitute themselvesout.
Oral sex is not wrong because Sodomites engage in it anymore than penile-vaginal sex is wrong because unmarried men and women engage in it. It is the context which makes sexual acts, including oral sex,right or wrong.
I will briefly address anal sex near the end of this article after I have fully covered oral sex from a Biblical perspective. We must then ask the question, is there any passage of the Bible which looks negatively upon oral sex? And the answer is no. But the answer to the next question I will pose may surprise many Christians. Does the Bible ever speak positively of oral sex? And the answer is YES. THE BIBLE SPEAKS IN A POSITIVE MANNER REGARDING ORAL SEX After I show you this next passage of the Bible, you will never look at a tree, especially an apple tree, the same again. _“As THE APPLE TREE among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight, AND HIS FRUIT WAS SWEET TO MY TASTE.”_ _Song of Solomon 2:3 (KJV)_ In ancient middle eastern poetry, the apple tree was a euphemism for a man’s genitals. Consider the parts of the tree in the image below and how they correlate to a man’s genitals. The image that the woman “sitting under his shadow” portrays is that of a man standing over top of his wife with his shadow over her and her down below him performing FELLATIO which is oral sex performed on a man and is commonly referred to today as a “BLOW JOB“. The Scriptures tell us she did this “with great delight” or in other words with enthusiasm and desire. What is the fruit of his tree? It is his semen. The woman says of her husband’s semen that it was “sweet to my taste”. But what about oral sex on a woman? Again, the Bible speaks to this as well. And just as I warned you with the apple tree, you will no longer look at a cluster of grapes or a pomegranate the same ever again after reading the next few Scripture passages. _“7 This thy stature is like to a palm tree, and THY BREASTS TO CLUSTERS OF GRAPES…_ _12 Let us get up early to the vineyards; let us see if the vine flourish, whether THE TENDER GRAPE APPEAR, and the POMEGRANATES BUD FORTH: there will I give thee my loves.”_ _Song of Solomon 7:7 &12 (KJV)_ This picture being presented above is that of a man wanting to see his wife’s breasts and genitals becoming aroused with grapes representing her breasts and pomegranates representing her genitals. See the image below of a pomegranate and you can definitely see the resemblance to a woman’s genitals: Now look below at what the wife asks her husband do with her“pomegranate”:
“I would lead thee, and bring thee into my mother’s house, who would instruct me: I would cause thee to drink of spiced wine of the juice of my pomegranate.” Song of Solomon 8:2 (KJV) Drinking of the juice of her pomegranate is a euphemism for CUNNILINGUS which is oral sex performed on a woman. Another reference to the wife requesting oral sex from her husband isfound below:
_“Awake, O north wind; and come, thou south; BLOW UPON MY GARDEN, THAT THE SPICES THEREOF MAY FLOW OUT. Let my beloved come into his garden, and eat his pleasant fruits.”_ _Song of Solomon 4:16 (KJV)_ If you ever wondered where “GOING SOUTH” on a woman or “EATING OUT” a woman came from – you can find it right there in there in Song of Solomon 4:16. The imagery of this passage is unmistakably referring to cunnilingus with the “spices” that “may flow out” referring to the natural secretions that come from a woman’s genitals when she is aroused or stimulated. So yes, we can say beyond a doubt that the Bible speaks positively, not negatively, of oral sex as long as it occurs as all sexual acts should – within the proper context of marriage. We can now at this point completely dismiss as totally unbiblical Bruce’s position that oral sex is a sin and that women should disobey their husbands if thisis requested.
SO ORAL SEX IS AN OPTION FOR CHRISTIAN SPOUSES, BUT IS IT ALSOREQUIRED?
Up to this point we have proven that oral sex is definitely an option for men and women within the covenant of marriage. The next question we must ask though is this. Is oral required in marriage in according to the Bible? None of the references to oral sex in the Song of Solomon are written in the form of a command, but rather they are written in the form of a positive example. Examples of various behaviors and actions in the Bible when presented in a positive light show us that God allows us to do that particular thing, but examples do not require us to do acertain thing.
In other words, positive Biblical examples ALLOW while Biblicalcommands COMPEL.
But while Song of Solomon contains no commands about oral sex, there are other passages which do give us commands about sex in general. _“3 Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. 4 THE WIFE HATH NOT POWER OF HER OWN BODY, BUT THE HUSBAND: AND LIKEWISE ALSO THE HUSBAND HATH NOT POWER OF HIS OWN BODY, BUT THE WIFE. 5 Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.”_ _1 Corinthians 7:3-5 (KJV)_ The passage above from 1 Corinthians teaches us several important Biblical principles about sex: * Sex is both a right and duty in marriage of both the husband andthe wife.
* The husband does not have the power to deny his body to his wife for sex nor does the wife have the power to deny her body to herhusband for sex.
* The only thing that requires “consent” in the Biblical world view of sex is consent by both of them to stop having sex for a briefperiod of time.
The Biblical principles above fly in the face of our modern individualist and secular humanist view of human autonomy today. But we as Christians are commanded to reject whatever values our culture has which conflict with the Word of God: _“AND BE NOT CONFORMED TO THIS WORLD: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”__Romans 12:2 (KJV)_
So now let’s apply the principles of I Corinthians 7:3-5 to thetopic of oral sex.
If a man wants his wife to perform oral sex on him – does she have the right to refuse? According to 1 Corinthians 7:4 the answer is no she does not have such a right. But the same goes for woman. If a woman wants her husband to perform oral sex on her, does he have the right to refuse? Again, the answer according to I Corinthians 7:4 is no, he does not have such a right. SO, THE ANSWER TO OUR QUESTION IS THAT ORAL SEX CAN BE BOTH OPTIONALAND REQUIRED.
It is optional in the sense that if neither spouse wants to engage in oral sex than it is not required. Is required in the sense that if either spouse wants to engage in it, then the other spouse must cooperate and render themselves accordingly. Now of course we must balance the right to have sex with one’s spouse and the responsibility to have sex with one’s spouse with other Scriptural principles. For instance, the Bible teaches the following to husbands regarding their wife’s body: _“28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord thechurch”_
_Ephesians 5:28-29 (KJV)_ A man must care for the needs of his wife’s body as he would his own. In the sexual arena, that means he should never do anything to his wife that would misuse or cause harm to his wife’s body. Sometimes vaginal sex may be need to cease for a time if the woman is having medical conditions that warrant such a ceasing, a good example of which would be right after she has had a child. There may also be times when oral sex may need to cease because the man or woman has had some type of dental work or oral surgery. There may be other times when it would not be conducive for a man to perform oral sex on his wife, for instance when she has her period or when she has some type of infection in her genital area. IS IT HEALTHY FOR A WOMAN TO SWALLOW HER HUSBAND’S SEMEN? Under normal circumstances oral sex between a husband and wife within the confines of marriage presents no health risks whatsoever. What do I mean by normal? If a man and woman follow God’s design for marriage and they both wait for all sexual activity (including oral sex) until marriage there is no chance of them contracting any STDs from one another due to oral sex. On the subject of a man’s semen. Many women are grossed out by a man’s semen while others absolutely love it. So, what is in this mystery fluid that is ejected from a man’s body when he has anorgasm?
On average men ejaculate about a teaspoon of semen. Sperm makes up only about 2 to 5 percent of a man’s semen. The overwhelming majority of a man’s semen is fructose(sugar), along with vitamin C, zinc, protein, lactic acid, magnesium, calcium chlorine, citric acid, creatine, potassium, vitamin B12, sodium, nitrogen, and phosphorus. Basically what that means is your husband’s sperm has about the same ingredients as the breakfast plate pictured below. So, no it absolutely not unhealthy for a woman to swallow her husband’s semen. In fact, it is very healthy both for her physically and for him psychologically. And we will tackle the male psychological side of oral sex next. HOW FELLATIO AFFECTS A MAN’S PSYCHE There are two ways that a woman can approach oral sex with her husband. The one is to “well I do this because I know he likes it but this is gross and he better not finish in my mouth!” In other words, the idea of her husband’s penis and especially his semen in her mouth utterly grosses her out. Even outside of oral sex, some women just find their husband’s semen gross and immediately after sex they are running to the bathroom to do this extensive cleaning process or even taking a bath in some cases. Other women crave their husband’s semen. These women perform oral sex to actually be able to taste their husband’s semen. This is the type of wife that is pictured in Song of Solomon 2:3. For most men who have not been conditioned to be ashamed of their sexual desires, they want their wife to be like the wife of Song of Solomon 2:3. They want their wife to crave their semen. Whether it be wanting it on their face, in their mouth, on their breasts and certainly in their vagina. Why? Because a man’s semen is an extension of himself. Semen, unlike other bodily biproducts from a man, represents life. It represents the man’s life and who he is. So yes, many men find it disrespectful and unloving when their wife finds their semen to be gross whether inside or outside her body or she refuses to swallow. But most men have been conditioned by our society (including the churches) to remain silent about this and to tell women what they want to hear that it is “not important” tothem.
A wife shows her submission to her husband when she kneels before him and takes his “apple tree” in her mouth. A wife shows her full acceptance of her husband when she does this act with “great delight” showing her husband that she craves the “sweet” taste of his fruit. A wife shows her sacrificial spirit when after performing fellatio on her husband to its natural completion she asks for nothing in return. WHY CUNNILINGUS IS IMPORTANT FOR WOMEN Multiple studies have confirmed that many women cannot have orgasms from penile-vaginal intercourse alone. Consider these numbers from an article on Psychology Today entitled “Why So Many Women Don’t Have Orgasms”:
> “For men, rates of orgasm varied only slightly based on how many > of these three actions they’d reported:>
> ONE (JUST INTERCOURSE): 96 PERCENT OF THE MEN HAD ORGASMS.>
> Two (hand massage and intercourse): 95 percent.>
> Three (hand massage, fellatio, and intercourse): 98 percent.>
> But for women, rates of orgasm varied considerably based on the > number of actions:>
> One (just intercourse): 50 percent of the women reported orgasms.>
> Two (hand massage and intercourse): 71 percent.>
> THREE (HAND MASSAGE, CUNNILINGUS, AND INTERCOURSE): 86 PERCENT.” In summary, the number above show that 96 percent of men can have an orgasm through penile-vaginal intercourse without any manual stimulation of their genitals or oral sex. But only 50 percent of women can have an orgasm from penile-vaginal intercourse alone. For many women they must have their genitals massaged along with receiving oral sex in order to have an orgasm. So why is cunnilingus important for women? Because there is a large chunk of women that cannot have an orgasm without it. THE IMPORTANCE OF ALLOWING ORAL SEX It is rare but I do sometimes hear from both men and women that they do not really want to allow their spouse to perform oral sex on them but their spouse really wants to. What these men and women need to understand is that giving oral sex can be a huge turn on for many men and women and it is a crucial part of foreplay for them even if orgasm is not reached through it. From the emails I have received, it is more often women that are opposed to their husbands performing oral sex on them then men opposing their wives performing oral sex on them. Sometimes it is because they just always feel dirty in their genital area, even after they wash. Some women just don’t want their husband’s mouth on their genitals simply because they think it is gross. For some women it might be because their husband performed oral sex once and he was too rough. If it is just a matter of the husband changing his technique, this can be accomplished through communication between the wife and herhusband.
But in either case, a man or woman opposed to having oral sex performed on them by their spouse needs to address whatever issues are hindering them in this area. Because they are holding back a portion of themselves that they ought not to be from their spouse. WHAT ABOUT ANAL SEX? Earlier we talked about how some Christians like Bruce link oral sex with anal sex and associate both these practices with the Biblical condemnation of Sodomites. I won’t go into all the details here as you can just read that article but I will just summarize my position on it here. The anus, unlike the vagina and the mouth, is not designed for penetration. It is designed as an “exit-only” orifice.WebMD states this
about anal sex:
> “The anus lacks the natural lubrication the vagina has. > PENETRATION CAN TEAR THE TISSUE INSIDE THE ANUS, ALLOWING BACTERIA > AND VIRUSES TO ENTER THE BLOODSTREAM… Using lubricants can help > some, but doesn’t completely prevent tearing.>
> The tissue inside the anus is not as well protected as the skin > outside the anus. Our external tissue has layers of dead cells that > serve as a protective barrier against infection. THE TISSUE INSIDE > THE ANUS DOES NOT HAVE THIS NATURAL PROTECTION, WHICH LEAVES IT > VULNERABLE TO TEARING AND THE SPREAD OF INFECTION…>

PRACTICING VAGINAL SEX AFTER ANAL SEX CAN ALSO LEAD > TO VAGINAL AND URINARY TRACT INFECTIONS” Now some have argued that _“God has designed many parts of the body with a primary function and many secondary as well”_ and that is absolutely true. The mouth has the primary purpose of acting as the intake for food and drink for the body but it has a secondary purpose of allowing for kissing and oral sex. In the same way the vagina has the purpose of being able to give birth to a child, but it has another purpose of being able to receive a man’s penis for penile-vaginalintercourse.
Some have tried to argue that the anus in women, like the vagina is created by God for a dual purpose as well. They argue that a woman’s anus is designed by God for evacuating waste from the body but also receiving a man’s penis for anal intercourse. The problem with this dual-purpose theory for a woman’s anus is that we know that it is a medical fact that the anus is NOT designed for penetration. It does not have the thick elastic lining of either the mouth or the vagina. It has much thinner skin that is very easily torn and can easily become infected. Another thing which separates oral sex from anal sex is cross contamination. There are no medical issues with a man receiving oral sex from his wife and then him placing his penis in her vagina. There are however great risks of spreading harmful bacteria from man having anal sex with his wife and then putting his penis in her vagina afterwards as this can cause infections in the vagina. It is for all these reasons that I believe anal sex is in fact a misuse of a woman’s body and it stands apart from oral sex. Oral sex does not have any health risks under normal circumstances while anal sex is considered by health practitioners to be the “riskiest form of sexual activity” that there is.

CONCLUSION
From a Biblical perspective, oral sex is not equivalent to Sodomy any more that penile-vaginal intercourse is equivalent to fornication. Just as penile-vaginal intercourse is only fornication if it occurs outside a marriage covenant between a man and woman, so too oral sex is only sodomy if it occurs in the context of two men having sex. The Bible never restricts sexual relations between husbands and wives to only penile-vaginal intercourse. It actually presents oral sex, both fellatio and cunnilingus in a positive light. We have also shown that oral sex is more than just an OPTION for Christian husbands and wives. The 1 Corinthians 7:4 principle that husbands and wives must fully surrender their bodies to one another for sex can make oral sex a REQUIREMENT and not just an option in marriage if either spouse wants it. Men should not be repulsed by the thought of performing oral sex on their wives and women should not be repulsed by the thought of performing oral sex on their husbands. Women should understand that it is not gross or unhealthy in anyway for a them to swallow their husband’s semen. It is actually very healthy and it is a powerful bonding tool for a wife to use with herhusband.
WHEN A WOMAN HAS WRONGFULLY DENIED HER HUSBAND SEX THE IDEA OF HER KNEELING BEFORE HIM, PERFORMING FELLATIO AND THEN SWALLOWING HIS SEMEN IS PROBABLY THE BEST APOLOGY A WIFE COULD EVER GIVE HER HUSBAND FORSUCH A SIN.
But a wife must realize that her performing fellatio as well as her swallowing is not simply something she should do as an apology for sexual denial. It is something that should be done regularly to show her love, full acceptance and submission to her husband. FINALLY, FOR THOSE WHO MIGHT BE CONCERNED THAT I AM PROMOTING ORAL SEX OVER PENILE-VAGINAL SEX. Nothing could be further from the truth. While I think fellatio and cunnilingus should be utilized by couples on a regular basis for foreplay or with cunnilingus to help a wife have an orgasm, I do believe that the vast majority of sexual encounters between a husband and wife should end in penile-vaginal intercourse with him ejaculating in his wife’s vagina. You don’t have to be a doctor or a biologist to see that a man’s penis and a woman’s vagina are perfectly designed to come together. When a man and woman come together in penile-vaginal intercourse this is them becoming “one flesh” in the most literal sense of the Biblical phase. But what we have known since creation simply by common observation has also been proven scientifically in that penile-vaginal intercourse results in a release of 400% percent more prolactin in men and women than any other form of sexual activity (like oral sex or masturbation). Prolactin is what give us the sense of satisfaction from having sex. However, it is one thing to say that penile-vaginal sex is the best form of sexual relations a husband and wife can have and another to say it is the only kind of sexual relations a husband and wife canhave.

There are some in Christianity and even outside of Christianity that believe to give someone the silent treatment is always wrong, no matter the circumstances under which it occurs. However, there are many things in life that can be right or wrong depending on the circumstances under which they occur. Some of my fellow conservative Christian brothers reject this concept calling it “situational ethics”. But the truth of the Scriptures is that the same action can be right or wrong depending on the circumstances under which that action occurs. Consider the following rule in the Old Testament regarding a mankilling a thief:
_“1 If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it; he shall restore five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep. 2 If a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him. 3 If the sun be risen upon him, there shall be blood shed for him; for he should make full restitution; if he have nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.”_ _Exodus 22:1-3 (KJV)_ The passage above tells us if a man breaks in at night to a person’s home and the home owner kills him at night this is not a crime and is considered a justified killing. But if a person kills a thief in their home by day, then it is considered murder. The reason a person could justly kill a thief breaking in at night is because under the cover of darkness you cannot tell what a person’s intentions are. They could be there to harm you or your family, or simply to steal. But in the day light you can see exactly why they are there for and if they are just there to steal – they can be apprehended, but not killed. And it tells us the thief must make restitution for what he was trying to steal which could be 4 to 5 times the value of whatever he was going to steal. If he could not pay this penalty, then he would be sold as an indentured servant for 6 years and in the 7th year he would have to be freed (Deuteronomy15:12).
The point is, whether an action is right or wrong often depends on the situation under which it occurs. Now we will tackle a word often associated with the silent treatment and that is one Lisa mentioned which is “MANIPULATIVE”. Can the silent treatment be a form of manipulation? Yes. If it is a person under authority trying to change their authority’s behavior by doing something that makes life difficult for their authority then yes it can very much be a form of manipulation and a wrong behavior. For example, think of the child who holds their breath until their parent gives them what they want? Or what if the child refuses to eat until they get what they want? Or they cry until they get what theywant?
And of course, if a child engages in the silent treatment toward their parents until the parents give in and give them what they want this would be a classic form of manipulation and is absolutely wrong from a Biblical perspective as children are commanded to obey their parents. _“Children, __OBEY__ your parents in the Lord: for this isright.”_
_Ephesians 6:1 (KJV)_ In the same way if a wife were to give her husband the silent treatment until he gave her what she wanted, whether it is agreeing to her position from an argument they had or just giving her an apology such behavior toward her husband would also be a form of manipulation toward her husband and is condemned by the Scriptures. The Bible also commands wives to obey their husbands: _“5 For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands: 6 Even as Sara __OBEYED__ Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with anyamazement.”_
_I Peter 3:5-6 (KJV)_ The same Greek word is used for both children and wives in regard to their relationship with their fathers and husbands. The Greek word “HUPAKOUO” is translated “obey” in Ephesians 6:1 for children toward their parents and “obeyed” in I Peter 3:6 referring to a wife’s behavior toward her husband. GOD WANTS WOMEN TO BE OBEDIENT TO THEIR HUSBANDS JUST AS HE WANTS CHILDREN TO BE OBEDIENT TO THEIR PARENTS. Does this mean husbands are always right in what they say or do? Of course not. They are sinners just as women are. And there are some extreme conditions where a wife may have to choose between obeying God and obeying her husband and in such cases Acts 5:9 tells us that women should “obey God rather than men.” But a wife does not have the right to disobey her husband simply because he acts in any sinful way toward her or he sins against God. In fact, the beginning of I Peter chapter 3 teaches that wives are to have submissive spirits toward their husbands who sin against God: _“Likewise, ye wives, __BE IN SUBJECTION TO YOUR OWN HUSBANDS__; that, if any obey not the word, they also may __WITHOUT THE WORD BE WON__ by the conversation of the wives; 2 While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.”_ _I Peter 3:1-2 (KJV)_ In other words, just because a woman’s husband sins against her or against this does not invalidate his God given position of authority over her as her husband. Now someone might say “What about I Peter 3:4?”: _“4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, __EVEN THE ORNAMENT OF A MEEK AND QUIET SPIRIT__, which is in the sight of God of great price.”_ There is a difference between a woman having a “meek and quiet spirit” toward her husband and her giving him the silent treatment. One type of quietness comes from a woman’s spirit of reverence, submission and love toward her husband and the other comes from spite. Here is the point we have clearly established from the Bible. There is stark contrast between a woman using the silent treatment toward her husband to control him and thus control their relationship and a woman winning her husband to God without a word by her pure and reverentbehavior.
And now we come to the question at the center of Lisa’s email to me. IS IT WRONG FOR A HUSBAND TO USE THE SILENT TREATMENT WITH HIS WIFE? As I said in the beginning of this article, the silent treatment can be wrong or right depending on the circumstances under which it occurs. The Bible gives husbands the following command toward theirwives:
_“Husbands, love your wives, and __BE NOT BITTER AGAINST THEM__.”_ _Colossians 3:19 (KJV)_ If a husband’s silent treatment toward his wife comes from a place of bitterness toward her then his silent treatment toward her iswrong.
However, the Bible show us that God as a husband to Israel used the silent treatment as one of his methods of discipline toward his wife: _“1 Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: 2 But__ YOUR INIQUITIES HAVE SEPARATED BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR GOD, AND YOUR SINS HAVE HID HIS FACE FROM YOU, THAT HE WILL NOT HEAR__.”_ _Isaiah 59:1-2 (KJV)_ _“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; __THEN WILL I HEAR__ from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”_ _II Chronicles 7:14 (KJV)_ And we as husbands are called to follow Christ’s example toward his church in washing our wives with the Word as he does his Church: _“25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.”_ _Ephesians 5:25-27 (KJV)_ Also, we as husbands are called to rebuke and discipline our wives as Christ does his churches: _“As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, andrepent.”_
_Revelation 3:19 (KJV)_ But we must also remember as husbands that God forgives sin and showsmercy:
_“Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? __HE RETAINETH NOT HIS ANGER FOR EVER__, because he delighteth in mercy.”__Micah 7:18 (KJV)_
We as Christian husbands must follow God’s example in not holding on to our anger forever, no matter how righteous that anger might be. The Scriptures tell us the following regarding righteous anger: _“__Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon yourwrath__“_
_Ephesians 4:26 (KJV)_ So even if our wife does not apologize, we need to let our anger go. However that does not mean our wife is free from the consequences of her actions. We as husbands can continue disciplinary action whatever that may be long after our anger has subsided. But we must also show our wives that while we may sleep in another room for a few nights that we will never forsake them just as Christ will never forsake his church: _“Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.Amen.”_

Let’s review a key statement from Lisa’s email to me that cannotbe overlooked:
> “Sometimes we may have had a heated discussion or argument which > we could not resolve but other times it is just that he felt I was > disrespectful to him in something I said or did.” This statement by Lisa makes it clear that her husband is not unwilling to have a basic conversation with her. But when the argument goes on and on and they cannot agree or she begins to start acting disrespectful toward him during the discussion this is when he shuts the discussion down and exits the discussion. This is actually good as in most cases it is counterproductive to keep a discussion going when it gets too heated and keeps going around andaround.
Of course, we will also have people saying “So you think a wife can never tell her husband what she thinks?” and I can assure you that nothing could be further from the truth. The Bible tells us of the virtuous wife in Proverbs 31:26 that _“in her tongue is the law of kindness”_ and it also tells us in Proverbs 12:4 that she is never one to _“maketh ashamed”_ her husband. The Bible also tells us in Proverbs 19:14 that _“a prudent wife is from the Lord”_ and then it tells us in Proverbs 21:19 that _“It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and anangry woman”_.
My point is that there is nothing wrong with a wife sharing a different point of view with her husband as long as it done with kindness and respect. But there is a big difference between a wife kindly sharing a different point of view with her husband and her entering into a contentious argument with him. The first type of behavior is to be commended; the second type of behavior should becondemned.
And now we come to a husband’s use of the silent treatment in response to his wife’s contentious spirit with him. The Scriptures tell us in Proverbs 21:9 that _“It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.”_ We can directly relate this to our discussion and say based on the Scriptures it is better for a husband to go to his “man-cave-office” then to dwell with his brawling wife elsewherein the house.
And the silent treatment can be a very effective tool especially with women. Why? Because most women are “Empathizers” (as confirmed by a recent Cambridge study of over 671,000 men and women ) meaning that they are driven to know the thoughts and feelings of those around them and especially the thoughts and feelings of theirhusbands.
In other words, in most cases, it will drive a wife nuts when she does not know what her husband is thinking. And in a lot of cases she will do anything it takes to remedy the situation to restore communicationswith her husband.
But then again sometimes a wife will remain in her stubborn sinful state, and sometimes we as husbands may be called to show mercy after some time apart or perhaps switch to a different disciplinarytechnique.
And finally, I just want to quickly address this other key statementby Lisa:
> “Sometimes it is because I turned him down for sex when I am NOT > IN THE MOOD.” A woman turning her husband down for sex simply because she is “not in the mood” as opposed to having some serious medical condition is a serious violation of her marriage covenant: _“3 Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. 4 The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.”_ _I Corinthians 7:3-4 (KJV)_ Men primarily give and receive love in marriage through sex. It is what bonds them to their wife. Where as women primarily give and receive love by talking and sharing feelings and this is how women feel bonded to their husbands. This is not to say that men cannot feel bonded to their wives by talking and sharing feelings nor is this to say women don’t feel bonded to their husbands through sex. But we are talking about primary means of bonding verses secondary means of bonding which are different in men and women. Ladies, let me translate this for you. Imagine you had a rough day with the kids and lots of other things going on at home. You can’t wait to put the kids to bed and just talk and share your day with your husband and also find out about his day. So, you get the kids to bed and slip into bed with your husband. You start talking to him about your day and he stops you “Babe, I am really not in the mood tonight” and then he rolls over and goes to sleep. That frustration you would feel as a woman if your husband did this to you is exactly what a man feels when his wife tells him she is not inthe mood for sex.
So, Lisa – yes God absolutely approves of your husband using the silent treatment with you as long as he does not let a root of bitterness grow in his heart. And by your own admission, it often works to bring you to repentance as you seek to restore your fellowship with your husband. Jesus Christ said in Luke 6:31 “_And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise_”. This statement is often referred to as the “GOLDEN RULE”. The most common interpretation of this passage that is taught today is “Treat others as you would want to be treated if you were in their situation”. And that is actually a pretty accurate interpretation of what Christ was saying. Over two and a half centuries since it’s founding, many Americans have used the “Golden Rule” to push their culture and government for new social acceptances and legal protections regarding marriage, gender roles and sexual behavior in America. Below is a list of some these major changes. 20 WAYS AMERICA HAS APPLIED THE “GOLDEN RULE” TO GENDER ROLES AND SEX OVER TWO CENTURIES * As men, we should want women to have the right to own property, because if we were in their shoes that is what we would want. * As men, we should want women to be able to divorce their husbands in the same way and for the same reasons that men divorce their wives because if we were in their shoes that is what we would want. * As men, we should want women to have the same custody rights to their children in divorce as men do, because if we were in their shoes that is what we would want. * As men, we should want women to have the right to alimony and child support as they divorce their husbands, because if we were in their shoes that is what we would want. * As fathers, we should never try to control or pressure our daughters in regard to their love lives, what men they see or what men they seek to marry because if we were in their shoes this is not how we would want to be treated. * As men, we should want women to vote, because if we were in their shoes that is what we would want. * As men, we should not want women excluded from any careers, because if we were in their shoes this is not how we would want to betreated.
* As Christian men, we should want Christian women to be able to hold any position in the church that a man can hold including that of being a Pastor, because if we were in their shoes this is what wewould want.
* As men, we should not want women forbidden from having abortions, because if we were in their shoes, we would want the right to have anabortion.
* As husbands, we should not try to control our wife’s behavior by telling her whether she can work outside the home or not because if we were in her shoes this is not how we would want to be treated. * As husbands, we should not try to control what friends our wife has or talks to because if we were in her shoes this is not how we would want to be treated. * As husbands we should not try to control our wife’s behavior by telling her how much money she can spend on various items because if we were in her shoes this is not how we would want to be treated. * As husbands, we should not try to control what church our wife attends because if we were in her shoes this is not how we would wantto be treated.
* As husbands, we should not try to pressure our wife in any way to have sex if she is not in the mood or she tells us “no” because if we were in her shoes this is not how we would want to be treated. * As men, we should not look at women as objects of potential visual and physical sexual pleasure because if we were women we would not want to be looked at in this way. * As men, we should not seek out women as wives so we can take sexual pleasure in their bodies, so they can bear our children, care for our children and keep our homes while we go and make our mark on the world in our careers. Because after all, if we were women we would not want to be pursued by men for these reasons. But rather as men, we should want women to have the same career opportunities we do and we should want wives strictly for human companionship and as equal partners that we can share our lives with and not as “sex objects”, “breeding machines”, “nannies”, “cooks” and“maids”.
* As husbands, we should not enjoy the sight of or think of any other woman other than our wives in a sexual manner because if we were women, we would not want our husbands enjoying the sight or thought of any other woman but us. * As heterosexual people, we should want homosexual people to be made to feel comfortable actively their lives as homosexuals and we should want them to have the right to marry just as we heterosexuals do. Because after all, if we were homosexuals that is how we wouldwant to be treated.
* As cisgender people, we should want transgender people to be made to feel comfortable being transgender and not as if they have a mental disorder. Because after all, if we were transgender, that is how we would want to be treated. * As cisgender heterosexual Christians, we would should want homosexual and transgender persons to be able to join our churches as members and even lead our congregations as clergy. I have made an effort in the list above to try and put the changes in chronological order. In the beginning of the list you will note women’s rights changes in regard to property and divorce rights which occurred from the mid-19th century up to the beginning of the 20th century. These rights were fought for by women and granted to them before their crowning achievement of Woman’s Suffrage in 1920. Also note that just before talking about women voting I talk about women not wanting to be under their father’s authority for marriage. This started in the late 19th century with the advent of the new practice of “dating” which encouraged women to reject their father’s authority over them in seeking a husband. Then of course as the list progresses, we see the new changes that Second Wave Feminism brought us in regard to telling men what they should want women and marriage for. And finally, we see the changes that have occurred over the last decade regarding the treatment ofLGBTQ persons.
As we look at the list above there is a key word, we must take notice of. And that key word is “WANT”. ANYONE SEEKING TO APPLY CHRIST’S STATEMENT IN LUKE 6:31, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE “GOLDEN RULE”, MUST TAKE INTO ACCOUNT WHAT GOD SAYS WE SHOULD WANT. FAILURE TO DO THIS WILL CAUSE THE GROSS MISAPPLICATION WE HAVE SEEN OF THE “GOLDEN RULE” IN AMERICA OVER THE PAST TWO CENTURIES. In the Gospel of Matthew we read an extended version of the “GoldenRule”:
_“Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: FOR THIS IS THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS.”_ _Matthew 7:12 (KJV)_ What was Christ saying here? He was saying that the entire foundation of the “Golden Rule” is the Word of God, the Bible. And what is the foundation of all moral truth in the Bible? The answer is given to us by Christ later in the Gospel of Matthew: _“36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?_ _37 Jesus said unto him, THOU SHALT LOVE THE LORD THY GOD WITH ALL THY HEART, AND WITH ALL THY SOUL, AND WITH ALL THY MIND. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, THOU SHALT LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR AS THYSELF._ _40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”_ _Matthew 22:36-40 (KJV)_ So, the greatest command is to love the Lord our God with all our heart, our soul and our mind. And the second one, to love our neighbor as our self, is built upon the first. Christ was quoting two commands from the Law of Moses. The first is found in the book of Deuteronomy: _“And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.”_ _Deuteronomy 6:5 (KJV)_ The second is found in the book of Leviticus: _“Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am theLord.”_
_Leviticus 19:18 (KJV)_ Now here comes the million-dollar question. How do we as Bible believing Christians know if we are loving God and loving our neighbor as ourselves by God’s definition? The answer is given to us near the end of the New Testament in the following Scripture passage: _“2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, THAT WE KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS: and his commandments are not grievous.__1 John 5:2 (KJV)_
The definition of loving God, loving our neighbors and following Christ’s “Golden Rule” is all premised upon one simple truth. THAT WE ARE KEEPING GOD’S COMMANDS IN ALL WE DO. THAT WE LOVE WHAT HE LOVES. THAT WE HATE WHAT HE HATES. THAT WE WANT FOR OURSELVES WHAT HE WANTS FOR US. This Scriptural truth I have just mentioned runs directly contrary to the vast majority of American teaching both outside and sadly even inside most Christian churches today. We no longer want to adjust our wants and desires to what God wants us to want. But instead we are trying to transpose on to God our wants and desires. Today we actually have churches teaching that God is a feminist and that he ispro-LGBTQ.
The Scriptures actually warn of this time coming and at the same time they command for those of us who are faithful to God’s Word to call out this wickedness: _“2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine._ _3 FOR THE TIME WILL COME WHEN THEY WILL NOT ENDURE SOUND DOCTRINE; BUT AFTER THEIR OWN LUSTS SHALL THEY HEAP TO THEMSELVES TEACHERS, HAVING ITCHING EARS; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables._ _5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.”_ _2 Timothy 4:2-5 (KJV)_ WE MUST CHANGE OUR WANTS TO WHAT GOD WANTS FOR US David wrote by the inspiration of God what should be the desire of every man and woman who seeks to please God with their lives and showtheir love for him:
_“Teach me thy way, O Lord; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.”__Psalm 86:11 (KJV)_
_“With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.”_ _Psalm 119:10 (KJV)_ So now we must tackle the question of what God wants for men and women which should determine what men and women want for themselves. SHOULD WOMEN WANT EQUAL RIGHTS WITH MEN? While Genesis 9:6 tells us that men and women are both made in the image of God, we find in 1 Corinthians 11:7 that only man _“is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man”_. And later in that same passage in I Corinthians 11:9 we read _“Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for theman”_.
In the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Ephesians he gives us God purpose and design in marriage: _“23 For the husband is the head of the wife, EVEN AS CHRIST IS THE HEAD OF THE CHURCH: and he is the saviour of the body. 24 Therefore as the church is SUBJECT unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing._ _25 Husbands, love your wives, EVEN AS CHRIST ALSO LOVED THE CHURCH, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish._ _28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but NOURISHETH and CHERISHETH it, even as the Lord thechurch”_
_Ephesians 5:23-29 (KJV)_ In 1 Corinthians 14:35 the Apostle Paul further elaborated on the husband’s duty to be his wife’s spiritual authority and teacher: _“And if they will learn any thing, LET THEM ASK THEIR HUSBANDS AT HOME: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.”_ _1 Corinthians 14:35 (KJV)_ And the Apostle Peter gave the following exhortation to women: _“5 For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, BEING IN SUBJECTION UNTO THEIR OWN HUSBANDS: 6 Even as Sara OBEYED Abraham, CALLING HIM LORD: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with anyamazement.”_
_I Peter 3:5-6 (KJV)_ God created marriage as picture of the relationship between himself and his people. God is pictured as husband to Israel in the Old Testament and Christ is pictured as a husband to his Church in the New Testament. Men as husbands picture God in leading, teaching, correcting, rebuking, providing for and protecting their wives as Christ does his church. Women as wives picture the people of God in their submission to, service to and dependence upon their husbands for their spiritual leading and teaching as well as their physical provision and protection. Based upon the clear teachings of the Scriptures shown above we can see that women should have no want or desire for equality with men and that they instead should want to be under the authority of men in all areas of their lives whether it is civil government, the church or intheir marriage.
SHOULD DAUGHTERS WANT TO BE FREE OF THEIR FATHER’S AUTHORITY BEFORETHEY ARE MARRIED?
The Scriptures give us the following commands regarding a father’s authority over his daughter: _“2 If a man vow a vow unto the Lord, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth._ _3 If a woman also vow a vow unto the Lord, and bind herself by a bond, being in her father’s house in her youth; 4 And her father hear her vow, and her bond wherewith she hath bound her soul, and her father shall hold his peace at her; then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she hath bound her soul shall stand._ _5 BUT IF HER FATHER DISALLOW HER IN THE DAY THAT HE HEARETH; NOT ANY OF HER VOWS, OR OF HER BONDS WHEREWITH SHE HATH BOUND HER SOUL, SHALL STAND: and the Lord shall forgive her, because her father disallowedher.”_
_Numbers 30:2-5 (KJV)_ _“Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and GIVE YOUR DAUGHTERS TO HUSBANDS, that they may bear sons and daughters; that ye may be increased there, and notdiminished.”_
_Jeremiah 29:6 (KJV)_ “16 And if a man entice a maid that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her to be his wife. 17 IF HER FATHER UTTERLY REFUSE TO GIVE HER UNTO HIM, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.” Exodus 22:16-17 (KJV) There is a reason that we have fathers walk their daughters down the aisle and then we have the traditional statement at weddings “who gives this woman to be wed” and before modern times it was not “her mother and I” but rather it was her father alone saying “Ido”.
This tradition is actually firmly rooted in the Word of God as is shown in the passages above. In God’s design fathers give or refuse their daughters for marriage and men take women in marriage with the permission of the woman’s father. Now there are of course exceptions to this rule when women are widows like in the story of Ruth and Boaz (Ruth 3:8-9). Also, the Bible makes an exception for this rule of having the father’s permission when men take wives as the spoils of war as seen in Deuteronomy21:11-14.
Based upon the clear teachings of the Scriptures shown above we can see that a daughter should want to be under her father’s authority before marriage and she should want his direction and blessing formarriage.
SHOULD PEOPLE WANT TO BE LGBTQ OR LIVE THE LGBTQ LIFESTYLE? The Scriptures have the following things to say in regard to LGBTQpersons:
_“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; MALE and FEMALE created he them.”_ _Genesis 1:27 (KJV)_ _“The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God.”_ _Deuteronomy 22:5 (KJV)_ _“If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.”_ _Leviticus 20:13 (KJV)_ _“26 For this cause God gave them up unto VILE AFFECTIONS: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.”_ _Romans 1:26-27 (KJV)_ Based upon the clear teachings of the Scriptures shown above we can see that no person should want to be made comfortable being any part of LGBTQ. But rather such persons should be ashamed of such desires. SHOULD MEN WANT WOMEN FOR SEX, HAVING CHILDREN AND CARING FOR THEIRHOMES?
The Scriptures give the following exhortations to young women: _“I will therefore that the younger women MARRY, BEAR CHILDREN, GUIDE THE HOUSE, give none occasion to the adversary to speakreproachfully.”_
_1 Timothy 5:14 (KJV)_ _“4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 To be discreet, chaste, KEEPERS AT HOME, good, OBEDIENT TO THEIR OWN HUSBANDS, that the word of God benot blasphemed.”_
_Titus 2:4-5 (KJV)_
And the Scriptures gives the following exhortation to men: _“18 Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth. 19 Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; LET HER BREASTS SATISFY THEE AT ALL TIMES; AND BE THOU RAVISHED ALWAYS WITHHER LOVE.”_
_Proverbs 5:18-19 (KJV)_ Based upon the clear teachings of the Scriptures shown above we can see that men should indeed desire to marry young women for sexual pleasure, for them to bear children and for them to guide and keeptheir homes.
CONCLUSION
I have shown here conclusive proof from the Bible that in order to properly apply the “Golden Rule” Christ gave that we must take into account WHAT GOD WANTS US TO WANT AND WHAT HE WANTS OTHERS TOWANT.
For instance, often times as parents we will find that our children do not want to do the things they should want to do. They should want to do their homework and get good grades. But sometimes they simply do not want to do their homework. Now if we were to put ourselves in their shoes at their age, we may have felt the same way. But does that mean we should let them not do their homework? Of course not. Their want is WRONG. It is not what God wants them to want. In the same way men are not breaking Christ’s “Golden Rule” by wanting women as wives for sexual pleasure, for them to bear children and for them to guide and keep their homes. And men are not wrong for wanting to lead, teach and mold their wives as they see fit according to the Word of God. A man is no more wrong for wanting to control and guide his wife’s actions than a parent is for wanting to control and guide theirchild’s actions.
Some may say “but women are not children” and that is a very true and Biblical statement. But it is equally true and Biblical to state that women are not men either. In other words, children are not equal with women, but also women are not equal with men. It is modern society that has invented two new social classes, Adults and Minors. But God’s design has three social classes, Men, Womenand Children
.
And finally, on the topic of LGBTQ persons and how the “Golden Rule” applies to them. Clearly no LGBTQ person should be “proud” of their sinful desires, but rather they should be ashamed of them and seek help to overcome such wicked desires. Christians are not breaking Christ’s “Golden Rule” in refusing to make LGBTQ persons comfortable in their wicked desires nor in refusing to allow them to become members of or clergy in churches. Secular Liberals are absolutely right about one thing that many Christians refuse to accept. There is absolutely an “intersectionality” between women’s rights and LGBTQ rights. LGBTQ rights are a direct result of the Women’s Right’s Movements of the mid 19th Century. This is a reality that Bible believing Christians must face and address in their churches. So what is the “Golden Rule” when understood in the entire contextof the Bible?
