Hardesty’s commitment to address Portland’s rising traffic fatalities began in earnest when a man intentionally used his car to run over people in southeast Portland in late January. It was a vehicular rampage that left one person dead, many others injured, and put our entire city on edge. CITY, STATE REACH 'HISTORIC AGREEMENT' FOR TRANSFER OF ODOT and PBOT agree that the total cost to transfer 82nd Avenue from the State to the City of Portland is $185M, excluding the structures over I-84 and the Union Pacific Railroad/light rail this would include the cost of bringing signals, lighting, ADA ramps, pavement, and stormwater to state of good repair, and addressing some of the most urgent deficiencies in sidewalks and pedestrian PORTLAND TRAFFIC FATALITY TRACKER Portland Traffic Fatality Tracker. The tables below share year-to-date tallies of people (not just bicycle riders) killed while using Portland roads. This data is primarily from the Portland Police Bureau. Please note that our tally might differ slightly from PPB and City of Portland Bureau of Transportation. It was a fitting time and place to unveil a project that could lead to the most significant transformation of how Portlanders get around since we built those damn freeways decades ago.
