THE WEEKEND DISH: 6/12/2021 10 hours ago · Friday Things #424 – Doing “normal” things, summer break, warm weather, feel-good stories, and more CREAMY COLESLAW RECIPE Homemade Coleslaw Mix: In lieu of bagged coleslaw mix, you can use 4 cups of shredded green cabbage (about 1 head) and add ½ cup shredded carrot. Sugar and Vinegar Adjustments: Both of these ingredients can be scaled up or down to suit your personal preference. Make it a sweeter or tangier dressing easily! Add-ins: Optional add-ins for different flavors and textures could include chopped SWISS MERINGUE BUTTERCREAM RECIPE The Ingredients. We only need a handful of ingredients to make this incredible buttercream, so let’s run through them quickly: Egg whites – these get heated to 160 degrees F to ensure they are safe to consume, so no worries about raw eggs!; Sugar – Regular white granulated sugar.; Butter – Use your favorite unsalted butter.; Vanilla extract – The real deal, never imitation, for PERFECT QUICHE LORRAINE The pan. A classic 9-inch pie plate is perfect for this quiche recipe; I prefer a simple Pyrex pie plate, as I’ve found glass pie plates perform better than metal or ceramic pie plates in terms of browning, heat conduction, and consistency.. An alternative for your quiche is to use a tart pan, which are usually 9½ or 10 inches in diameter.Since tart pans are shallower than pie plates, youBLUEBERRY CRISP
Blueberry Crisp. 1 pint (~2 cups) fresh blueberries 2 Tablespoons white sugar 1 cup all-purpose flour 1 cup rolled oats 3/4 cup packed brown sugar 3/4 cup butter BLACK FOREST CHEESECAKE RECIPE Make the Cherry Topping: Drain off ¼ cup of juice from the thawed cherries and set aside. In a medium saucepan, combine the cherries (and any remaining juice), sugar and salt over medium heat and cook, stirring occasionally, until it reaches a boil, about 5 to 10 minutes. CHICKEN PARMESAN RECIPE The Sauce. The next component in chicken parmesan is the sauce and you really can use whatever you’d like here. Some recipes call for a fresh marinara sauce, and I honestly just use whatever I have on hand, which is usually my favorite meat sauce. You can make that recipe and omit the meat if you’d like, use your favorite homemade sauce, a jar from the pantry – whatever you want! GRAHAM CRACKER CRUST RECIPE Pie crust can intimidate even the most experienced bakers, but armed with a little knowledge and confidence, anyone can master it! I’ve nailed favorite recipes for an all-butter pie crust and a butter/shortening crust (with vodka as the secret ingredient!), and while graham cracker crust is so insanely easy to make, many people still reach for the pre-made, store-bought ones. CHOCOLATE CHIP GRANOLA RECIPE In a large bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, brown sugar, vanilla extract and salt. Whisk in the vegetable oil to combine. Add the oats and chocolate chips and fold the mixture together with a rubber spatula until all of the oats and chocolate chips are thoroughlycoated.

FRIDAY THINGS #334
August 9, 2019 // 0 _Comments »_ 1. I can’t get over how much Isabelle LOVES baby dolls. She’s been enamored with them since she was around 8 to 9 months old; if you hand one to her, she smiles and squeals, hugs it tight to her neck and gives it kisses. It’s absolutely adorable to watch and I’m so grateful to be able to experience a little girl, as well as little boys. (Truth be told, she copies everything her brothers do, so 95% of the time, she is rolling matchbox cars on the floor, tables or walls and making a “vroooooom!” sound lol!) 2. My husband took this picture last week and it’s one of my all-time favorite pictures of Joseph: 3. Dominic is so, so, SO excited to start school next month. He tells us nearly every day how he can’t wait to go to school and that he’s going to make friends and listen to his teachers and have so much fun. My heart. I can hardly believe he’s old enough already, but he is definitely READY and I am so excited for him. 4. Speaking of back to school, hello Williams-Sonoma fall treats , I am sooooo ready foryou!
5. This really made me laugh: 6. And so did this (BECAUSE IT’S SO TRUE): 7. The last few times that the boys have been in the bathroom while I’m getting ready in the morning, Joseph has peppered me with questions while I put on my makeup. He’ll say, “Mommy, what is that? What does it do? But WHY do you put it on your face?” to just about everything. Trying to come up with a reasonable answer as to why I squeeze my eyelashes between two pads or put blush on really kind of puts things in perspective. Spoiler alert, I couldn’t think of a good reason! (I think I said something about it helps mommy not look so tired, haaaaaaaaa.) 8. It’s insane that football season is officially here already! You totally need to whip up some soft pretzelsfor this month’s
bake-along while you watch your favorite team! 9. I’m pretty sure all of these food opinionsare completely
true. Thoughts?
10. TGIF! I hope you find a sliver of sunshine this weekend, xo _posted in_ Friday Things0 Comments »
