The notion of the poultice has been adapted for the cleaning of historic buildings and a true poultice is intended to draw out deep-seated contaminants and staining from the surface of masonry and sculpture. SOUND INSULATION IN HISTORIC BUILDINGS Airborne sound is a series of compressions and rarefactions of air particles that travel in a longitudinal wave form. The air movement triggers hair and bone receptors when entering the ear.
