Touring St. Croix. March 31, 2021 32 Comments. A couple weeks back Ali and I were hiking back to the boat from the grocery store, where we had purchased way too much. We were struggling with all the bags, and regretting our decision to leave the kids at home. As we were walking I said, “If we are ever driving past someone and see them with aMONKEYING AROUND
Monkeying Around. With a bit of rough weather on the way we decided to move around the island and stop in at the marina we visited last season to see friends and sit out the rain. There is only one fuel dock here in Roatan, so before moving to bays further on we swung in to fill up. It’s located at the far end of one of what I hope is the1982 43' SPINDRIFT

Found in the Sacramento Delta, California, we cruised south from there to Mexico and spent three seasons exploring Baja and the West Coast of Mexico with our kids. All New Rolly Tasker Sails in 2011. The church is all that is left of the town that once stood here. In 1943 it disappeared when a volcano suddenly erupted out of a flat cornfield. Nine years later it was done erupting, having buried the town in lava. Only the big stone church was partially spared. When Ali and I first visited we got lost trying to follow trails through thewoods.
INTRODUCING THE 1966 DODGE TRAVCO Introducing the 1966 Dodge Travco. In the dark early hours a couple of days back I set off with Ali’s dad for the road trip south to pick up the bus. It was about 270 miles away—too far to travel with the kids, in the cold, in an old motorhome—outside of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. We pulled into the driveway and there she was under a lightlayer
CAT VS. MONO
This is a tricky one. Indoors the monohull wins hands down. Our mono is 43′ with a 13′ beam. Our cat was 35′ with a 22′ beam. Yet it is the monohull that feels more roomy, more comfortable, and more homey. Yes, homey. The cat is a poor example of a home. It’ssterile.

A Wanderer’s Life. A few years back I started OMentoring, an options trading group, with little plan as to what exactly I had in mind for it. Fortunately, those that signed up were kind to me during the learning curve, and before long we were really rolling along.Eventually, that
ISOLATION - BUMFUZZLE Isolation. After two weeks of total isolation on the boat, it was time to venture out to the grocery store again. Another guy in the marina offered us his car and we headed up to stock up for what looks to be at least another two weeks as Puerto Rico tries to put a cap on the virus. At the grocery store the line was a couple dozen long at seven AROUND SANTO DOMINGO Around Santo Domingo. One of the first things we do in a new country is draw the flag (DR is the only flag in the world with a bible on it), and then read some of the history of the place we’re visiting. Such an easy way to learn—for all of us. Our slightly grubby home here in Santo Domingo. Our 50A power cord is run to a splice with FIRST DIVE - BUMFUZZLE West End, Roatan. Gearing up for the first dive. This was Ouest’s true tenth birthday. One last bit of birthday fun. The kids took to scuba like they’d been doing it their whole lives. Unfortunately, it’s not easy to find a scuba outfit willing to take an eight year-old beyond the pool and into the depths like Lowe would like togo.
MARLEY - BUMFUZZLE
To start with, torrential rain just battered us the whole way. Add in already terrible, and incredibly narrow roads. Throw in a crappy rental with bad tires, and you’ve got yourself a recipe for a stressed out wife. But hey, a little Bob Marley will take the stress away. The tour of MarleyPORT ANTONIO
Port A is taking a little getting used to. Frankly, it’s a bit exhausting. Every single walk through town I hear “Hey, Cap! Hey, Cap! Just a minute, Cap.” from at least a few people—sometimes as many as ten. We stick out like a sore thumb, and every hustler in town knows exactly where the toursit is coming from—a boat.BUMFUZZLE
