Buttle UK have today published 'The State of Child Poverty 20' - a unique insight into the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic inside the homes of some of the most vulnerable families in the UK. The qualitative study of nearly 1,000 nationwide frontline workers was carried out at the point lockdown restrictionswere

Chances for Children grants are individually tailored grants of up to £2,000 for children and young people who have experienced a crisis that has recently had a significant and enduring impact on their social and emotional wellbeing and educational engagement. OTHER CHARITIES AND RESOURCES THE IMPACT OF POVERTY ON CHILD MENTAL HEALTH 65% report that poverty has a high negative impact on children’s mental health. 60% report that poverty has a high negative impact on children’s self-esteem. Support workers reported the following specific areas as having a large negative impact on children’s mental health: 58% - family financial pressure. 54% - not enoughsleep.
SUPPORT FOR BOARDING Buttle UK can contribute towards a boarding place when there is an ongoing crisis within the family home which means a young person cannot stay at home with their parent or carer. CHILD POVERTY IN UK IN 2019 There were a number of headline figures that bear laying out and examining further. Absolute poverty has risen by 200,000 to 3.7 million children. Relative Child Poverty remained broadly stable at 4.1 million. 70% of these children now come from working families – up from 67% last year. 53% ofKINSHIP CARE
Kinship care occurs when friends or relatives take on care of a child or young person when their parents are no longer able to look after them. This could be for a variety of reasons ranging from mental or physical health concerns, substance misuse issues or bereavement.
