BVSPCA-TANGI PAGE HEADER The first open admissions, no-kill shelter in Pennsylvania promoting the welfare and humane treatment of all animals. HOW DID DOGS BECOME MAN'S BEST FRIEND? Dogs have long been man’s best friend. In fact, loving memorials to our furry friends have been found from Ancient Rome and Ancient Greece with epitaphs similar to those we would read to our own dogs today. While research has shown that dogs were first domesticated 15,000 years ago, the reason why dogs became our constant companions is aninteresting one.
