This campaign is the first large scale activation of BWHI’s Rare Disease Diversity Coalition that was formed in May 2020. The purpose of the RISE for Rare campaign is to build awareness around the health disparities BWHI PARTNERS WITH LEADING INTIMATE APPAREL BRAND, KNIX The Yearlong program will train twenty postpartum community doula leaders to serve Black Families to Increase Healthy Birth Outcomes . Washington, D.C. – (May 5, 2021) – The Black Women’s Health Imperative (BWHI) today announced a new partnership with global intimate apparel brand Knix, to launch the NOURISH (New Opportunity to Uncover Our Resources Intuition Spirit and Healing BLACK WOMEN’S HEALTH IMPERATIVE RESPONDS TO AMERICAN ACS Guidelines Will Jeopardize Lives and Severely Limit Disease Detection. Washington, D.C. (August 18, 2020) — We have made significant progress in the fight against cervical cancer over the past several decades, yet, alarmingly, rates are beginning to increase among certain populations. LOW BIRTH WEIGHT BABIES AND BLACK WOMEN: WHAT’S THE All of these activities can slow the baby’s growth in the womb, causing low birth weight. It’s estimated that smoking during pregnancy accounts for 20 to 30% of babies born with a low birth weight, and up to 14% of premature births. Secondhand smoke can increase a baby’s risk of low birth weight by as much as 20%. This campaign is the first large scale activation of BWHI’s Rare Disease Diversity Coalition that was formed in May 2020. The purpose of the RISE for Rare campaign is to build awareness around the health disparities SURVIVING & THRIVING: COVID-19 PANDEMIC SURVIVAL GUIDE FOR When 2020 began, there was a distinctly optimistic feeling about what was to come. It was to be a year of clarity, with many wishing for “20/20” vision to guide them through. During our nearly 36 year history, the Black Women’s Health Imperative has partnered with organizations and government agencies to invest over $80M in evidence-based programs across the US to provide Black women with the tools and resources they need for physical, emotional and financial wellness. THE BLACK WOMEN’S HEALTH IMPERATIVE IS A NATIONAL The Black Women's Health Imperative, a community outreach partner for the National Institutes of Health All of Us Research Program, took the show on the road to the Bayou Classic Fan Fest and football game in New Orleans on November 24.The team worked the crowd to explain the importance of research, precision medicine, and All of Us. We gave out more than 5,000 flyers and brochures with HOMEPAGE STRESS TEST BWHI has developed an Emotional Wellness Toolkit to be a resource for Black Women dealing with stress. Take our 12 question stress test and you will be able to download the toolkit.
