MY POWER TO CHOOSE
My Power to Choose. One of May 2021’s suggested songs is the hymn, Choose the Right. I noticed in this month’s Friend magazine, there’s a new song entitled My Power to Choose . This might be a fun song to substitute or use in conjunction with Choose the Right. But I also have ideas linked below for teaching Choose the Right if youprefer.
HAVE I DONE ANY GOOD? SINGING TIME LESSON PLAN Easter eggs filled with beans/rice. prescription bottles or small containers filled with beans/rice. 2 pencils to tap together. drums. any rhythm music makers you can think of! If you have more suggestions for rhythm makers, please leave a comment! My Music Bag contains pre-made egg shakers. I WANT TO BE A MISSIONARY NOW at a friend’s house. at the dinner table. in my primary class. in the car. at a restaurant. Have the kids think of answers after singing the song using the knocking and walking pattern. Gradually remove pages of the flip chart after each time you sing through the song and answer the questions. I created a document for the Missionary Jar that THE PRIESTHOOD IS RESTORED In 1829 the priesthood was restored to Joseph Smith by John the Baptist and Peter, James and John. Pretty amazing, right? If you listen to the accompaniment to this song, there’s a fanfare at the beginning and throughout the song. The trumpets are announcing that the priesthood has been restored!WHEN HE COMES AGAIN

Instructions for accessing each printable on my Resource Library are below the button. JOSEPH SMITH'S FIRST PRAYER Sweet birds singing: birds singing. Music ringing through the grove: both birds and bees. When within the shady woodland Joseph sought the God of love: Joseph praying. Humbly kneeling, sweet appealing Twas the boy’s first uttered prayer: Joseph praying. When the pow’rs of sin assailing filled his soul with deep despair: black cloud.WIGGLE WORM JAR
I created a wiggle worm jar that’s multi-functional! I love it! We use it during the last 5 minutes of transition time each Sunday. I also occasionally pull it out to break up the monotony of learning a program song during singing time. To use my wiggle worm jar, I simply tell the kids I Wiggle Worm Jar Read More » I'M TRYING TO BE LIKE JESUS, 1ST VERSE Invite them to point to a picture they think matches the words you sing. Ask one child to move it to the front wall. Have everyone sing that much of the song. Continue singing and repeat the activity for each picture. Then have the children sing the entire song several times. Briefly testify of the importance of trying to be like Jesus.WHEN HE COMES AGAIN
For our April “song of your choice” I chose When He Comes Again (if you are having trouble choosing, check out my post HERE for more ideas!). This will also double as the song we will sing during sacrament meeting on Easter Sunday. To introduce the song, post a picture of the second coming on When He Comes Again – 1st Verse ReadMore »

I LOVE MAKING SINGING TIME EASIER! Thank you so much for all your wonderful ideas! I am newly called to teach the music in Primary in our Portuguese-speaking Branch in Luanda, Angola. I have been able to use many of your ideas and our Primary has gone from rarely singing anything other than an opening song to having an actual singing time with all the children loving what we are doing! I am amazed, and grateful, at the quick turn from dis-interest to joyful participation by all of the children.Melisa
This is a "fan boy" email. Yes, I'm a male. I was called to be the primary chorister about 3 months ago. I think everyone was surprised when I was called and when I accepted. Since that time, I've been trying to find ideas to teach, entertain and help the children to feel the spirit. I've been in the young men's, elders quorum and a member of the bishopric, but never in the primary. I like kids, but usually one at a time. Your lesson plans have been fantastic! I especially enjoyed the idea for "when I am baptized." I love music and it was so fun to teach some music theory to the little ones! Thank you so much for putting these together! They are a huge help and the kids love them! I wanted to let you know that you were appreciated!Stephen Melson
You’ve got some major talent and gifts that you’ve been given and are so willing to share. From the bottom of my heart, I’m truly grateful. I’m a music person too, but benefit so much from you. My philosophy for teaching music to children has always been to teach the music and get the music into the kid’s hearts....Your lesson plans help us all to focus on what is truly important, but in a fun and engaging way. Thank you! I get so many wonderful positive comments from my primary presidency and primary teachers about the way I teach. BUT I give a whole lot of credit to you and your website! Thank you!Ginger
For several years I have been our primary chorister here in Louisville, Ky. I get a lot of positive feedback for my singing time activities. I owe it all to you! I feel like you have become a friend to me over the years and I enjoy your personality that shines through your blog. Thank you for your service... it was needed. Here's to many more years of singing time success!Elaine M
THANK YOU soooooo much!! Your visual aids are amazing. I am not the crafty type- what I envision rarely comes out. Your site helps me so much. I was called to chorister and lets say I was not happy at all. Not to mention I am sooo busy between working, my side hustle/small business franchise thing and the work I do with at local middle school and wanting to find a husband (LOL) I could not fathom doing itwithout your site.
