OUR WINES | CARMEL ROADCARMEL ROADHISTORYPINOT NOIRBLOGCONTACT USOURVINEYARDS
Carmel Road produces three varietals: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and a limited production Cabernet Sauvignon. The Pinot Noir and Chardonnay thrive in areas where the temperature doesn’t get too hot during the day and falls off rapidly at night. In fact, Monterey’s weather would be too hot for these cool-climate grape varieties were it not for the maritime influence from Monterey Bay. WINEMAKING | CARMEL ROAD Carmel Road offers unique Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Monterey and a limited offering of bold Cabernet Sauvignon from select coast vineyards through California's wine country. Our wines are known for their rich flavors, firm acidity and brilliant varietal flavors. But it is the pronounced minerality that sets them apart from their peers throughout the Golden State. HISTORY | CARMEL ROAD The first vintage of Carmel Road wines was released in 1999. There’s a back road that stretches from the town of Carmel by the Sea, traversing the Arroyo Seco and through scenic gaps in the Santa Lucia hills, connecting the inland growing region to the ocean. This winding trail was the inspiration for our name, our own Carmel Road.OUR VINEYARDS
Our abiding passion for balanced yet expressive wines begins in our vineyards, which perch on the benches and hills that frame Monterey County’s Salinas Valley. The valley is framed by Gabilan Mountains on the east, and the Santa Lucia Mountains on the west. Our vineyards are mostly on the lower slopes, between 300 feet-500 feet above the valley floor, within the path of the prevailing windsBLOG | CARMEL ROAD

Rincon. Rincon is the most northerly of Carmel Road's vineyards. Situated below the west-facing foothills at the entrance to Chualar Canyon, this sloping vineyard features iron-rich, decomposed granite and clay-loam topsoil derived from the gradual decay of the majesticGabilan peaks.
MONTEREY PINOT NOIR
The slightest differences in clonal composition and terroir can have a terrific impact on Monterey Pinot Noir, yet the essentials remain. The wines are bright, crisp and silky, with a perfumed fragrance leading to complex flavors ranging from cherry pie filling to rhubarbs, pomegranates and dusty brown spices, all accented by smoky oak.MONTEREY CHARDONNAY
Monterey Chardonnay is so rich, it doesn’t need oak. Refreshing acidity, courtesy of the cool climate, heightens the golden mango, tangerine, Asian pear, white flower, vanilla bean and butter cream flavors, leading to a long finish complexed with a hint of yeast fromsur lie aging.
