1912 Delaware, River Tug Delaware, a tugboat built in Bethel, De., is a rare example of a typical early 20th century wooden river tug. Built in 1912 by William H. 1912 Delaware, River Tug Delaware, a tugboat built in Bethel, De., is a rare example of a typical early 20th century wooden river tug. Built in 1912 by William H. Smith, it may be one of two survivors of the notable boatyard. Delaware hauled scows often laden with lumber and towed ram schooners up and down the Eastern Shore’s narrow, windingrivers.

Proceeds from the auction benefit the children and adults served by CBMM’s MEET: BRUCE RAGSDALE, BOARD MEMBER Bruce Ragsdale first became connected to the Chesapeake Bay when he and his now husband, Rick, would take day trips to the area. Bruce laughs and recalls that they began frequenting the region from their Washington, DC home when they took their dog swimming along the waters of the Eastern Shore.
