CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT
I’ve heard of at least two different methods of clutch adjustment. One is to adjust the clutch so you have between 1” and 1-1/2” of toe play in the peddle. The other is to tighten the adjustment rod until all the play is gone and then back the adjustment off three turns. Is this six of one, half ANYONE HAVE AN OLD CAM DYNAMICS CATALOG TO HELP ME? Trying to find the specs on an old cam dynamics camshaft, 10306 or 10309 or 103069 or 103096. The reason for the confusion, is that either a 9 is stamped over a 6 or the other way around. According to the 70 GM assembly manual, some of the wires are supposed to connect to the "TCS SOL" and "TCS RELAY". Problem is I WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SFE AND AGC FUSES? I was just at Carquest(formerly WorldWide) to buy some 20 amp fuses. They had 2 packages, one said SFE 20 and the other AGC 20. The fuse length looked idential, the filament inside the fuse looked to be exactly the same. The overall appearance was the same. There was about20 cents

Unfortunately, the header was ARE THESE HEADS ANY GOOD? 336781 OVAL PORT i have a chance to buy a set of these cast iron heads. # 336781 made between 1973 and 85. there suppose to be 113.0 cc. these are bare heads that were supposedly magnafluxed and found to be in good shape. anyone know valve sizes, and weather they'ed be good street performance heads when equiped with 2.25 intakes and 1.88 exhuast (if they would fit) valves. are these open ports? FACTORY 425HP 396 ??? I found a guy to rebuild my Posi-unit for me and assist with a gear swap. He is a GM mechanic with about 15-20 years experience. First Letter indicates manufacturer, 1 indicates Chevrolet, this is all you will ever find here. The next two letters are the series designation, 38 is for Super BLOCK #14015445, WHAT ELSE CAN YOU TELL ME? My big block is a #140154445, a truck block from 78-90(?) On the back of the casting I looked for a date, and found "0 2 blob 3". The blob is garbled metal not a paint run, like there was nothing in that space. 761 Posts. #2 · Sep 3, 2004. 441s if i remember right have the same flow as the double humps but have 72cc chambers so they will drop compression a little .they were 327 250 hp heads.put 1.6 exaust valves to them and some port work and you will be happy with them.one other plus is they have the bolt holes in them. Runs 160* TO 170* degrees, and the Fan never has needed to396 OVERHEATING
2,861 Posts. #2 · May 1, 2012. put thermostate back in. use a 160 degree one and drill two 1/8" holes in it. then increase your timing closer to 12 degrees and hook your vacuum advance up, put the vacuum line on full port vacuum. during idle with vacuum advanced hooked up you should have something around 37 degrees of timing. more is fine CASTING #3963512 BIG BLOCK 454 OR 427? 117 Posts. SMALL BLOCK HEAD INFO 462624 13,136 Posts. #3 · Nov 30, 2003. I've pointed this out several times before here and let me cover it again. Starting with the 1975 model (fall of 74) Chevrolet began cutting corners on the SB heads, such as the 462624 head. They were lighter, thinner castings, had an additional exhaust crossover passage (more heat) in the center of thehead.

POSSIBLE COOLING ISSUES If you replace the lower rad hose, when you fill the system up, pop the thermostat housing off and fill the engine from the intake hole. This will fill the engine and eliminate any possible air in the system. Starting with the 1975 model (fall of 74) Chevrolet began cutting corners on the SB heads, such as the 462624 head. They were lighter, thinner castings, had an additional exhaust crossover passage (more heat) in the center of thehead.
#781 HEADS WHAT SIZE IS CHAMBER????? Always thought they were basically same head as the #049 which alot of places have listed also at 113cc, but due to a recent post seem to be more like 121cc. Was just wondering if #781 are also really 121cc chambers. Im putting a 454 together with TRW #2349 pistons and a set of non surfaced #781's. At 119cc it lists as 9.99 comp ratio.441 HEADS ANYGOOD?
761 Posts. #2 · Sep 3, 2004. 441s if i remember right have the same flow as the double humps but have 72cc chambers so they will drop compression a little .they were 327 250 hp heads.put 1.6 exaust valves to them and some port work and you will be happy with them.one other plus is they have the bolt holes in them. INTERNALLY DUAL FEEDING A TH400 Just save it for later in case you want to make a TH400 in the car work better. If you are rebuilding a unit on the bench, just do the dual feed mod internally, it works much better. OK, Using the TransGo instructions. Drill hole A to .125-.135" on the stock plate. Drillhole B to .140".
RECOMMENDED BBC TIMING For 540ci BBC Street/Strip motors, 37* total is fairly common. That's what mine likes, and so do quite a few others that I'm familiar with. These motors run solid roller cams with around 265* to 275* duration at .050, and around 11 to 1 compression. They also generally like about as much initial timing as your distributor can muster. Of course those clearances can vary some, depending on who is doing the building, and their preferences. Then of TURBO 400 YOKE CONFUSION The slip yoke output shaft has about 2.75 inches of spline and then another inch or so to where the shaft diameter increases. So the total length that the yoke can engage the output shaft is about 3.75 inches. OIL CONSUMPTION FRESH 396 Modern rings and a PROPER cylinder finish will seat the rings in only a few 100 miles if the engine is run with medium and varying loads and a good break-in oil. WHAT IS TCS SOL AND TCS RELAY ON 70BB? The TCS relay is a small relay box that is riveted to the wiring gutter that runs under the hood close to the top of the cowl, you know the one that carries the wire with fuse to the a/c/heater blower. IF the heads will feed a 454 to nearly 5000 rpm (already known) THEN they will feed a 396 to approximately 5700 rpm using a simple ratio calculation. I personally feel the smaller runner cross section will provide a buncha much-needed torque in the 'small' BBC, 396/402 HOW MUCH DOES A 454 WEIGH?
