COMMON WHEEL
Common Wheel supports p eople with mental illness by providing meaningful activities We have four projects. Our bike project supports people in repairing and recycling old bikes into 'good as new' bikes for our clients to ride away and keep. Our music project supports people in singing, playing and composing music. Our visual arts project 'Carnival Club' supports people in designing and BIKES - COMMON WHEEL The main focus of Common Wheel's bike project is our Build Your Own Bike (BYOB) course. This course is designed for people with mental illness. Each course runs for half a day per week for ten weeks at one of our bike workshops, which are located in Maryhill and Bridgeton, or PROJECTS - COMMON WHEEL Our projects. Common Wheel offers four areas of activity: bike recycling , music groups , visual arts workshops ('Carnival Club') and climbing . The specific objectives of our activities are to: All of the workshops provide an opportunity for participants to develop life skills such as confidence, communication, following instructions andteam
MUSIC - COMMON WHEEL Common Wheel's music project provides participatory music activities for people with mental illness across Glasgow; in hospital wards, care homes, and in our music studio at Campbell House in Gartnavel Royal Hospital. Our music workshops support CLIMBING - COMMON WHEEL Climbing has been shown to be one of the best physical activities for improving mental health as well as physical fitness. This is recognised within the NHS. It is suitable for all levels of fitness and experience. Common Wheel is now offering climbing as one of our activities. We ran a successful pilot in 2019 and intend to offerthree courses

As an amateur musician who occasionally performs with a community music group, he's an advocate for the benefits of SUPPORT US - COMMON WHEEL Support us. You can support Common Wheel in a number of different ways. We accept donations of bikes, some types of musical instrument, and money! Donate a bike. Click on the images to enlarge. There are videos of the tandem and of john riding one of the tall bikes. This was made in 2011 for Mexican artist Abraham Cruzvillegas. It was exhibited at the Centre for Contemporary Arts. The sofa bike had to be disposed of due to lack of storage space. This bike features in one of the videos. Common Wheel supports people with mental illness by providing meaningful activities. We have three projects. Our bike project supports people in repairingand recycling old
bikes into 'good as new' bikes for our clients to ride away and keep. Our music project supports people in singing, playing and composing music. Our visual arts project 'Carnival Club' supports people in designing and producing large scale art pieces to be displayed in various parades in Glasgow. Our projects aim to improve mental wellbeing, and support people in learning new skills. We would like to thank Team Andrew Muirhead & Son Limited who are fundraising for Common Wheel by cycling to Loch Lomond.
The company is based near our Bridgeton workshop and is regarded as one of the finest leather companies in the world. There are also two teams fundraising for Common Wheel by participating in Pedal for Scotland on 8th September: one from RJ McLeod, one of Scotland's largest privately owned civil engineering and building contractors, and the other from Collective Architecture. The total raised so far is over £2,000 and the fundraising pages are still open. It is amazing to have so many fantastic supporters and we really appreciate it.New Activity
