The Muse 2 is Stressing Me Out. After two years of having a daily meditation and breathing practice, I decided to buy the Muse 2. The idea of having real-time feedback guiding me deeper appealed to me. That was 3 months ago and the reality is the OlderPosts.

Notes on Pavel’s – The Quick and the Dead. Pavel published a new book last year titled The Quick and the Dead – Total Training for the Advanced Minimalist. After his appearance on Joe Rogan recently, I discovered a copy in my local library. In this post, I will give a review/summary of the book and my initial experiences with the workout PAVEL'S QUICK & DEAD VS HIT Greg left an interesting comment on the post Notes on Pavel’s – The Quick and the Dead that I felt deserved its own post. I might need some help from the HIT experts as I have not kept up with the topic fully in recent years. Pavel’s anti-glycolytic training IMPROVING PAVEL'S QUICK AND DEAD WORKOUT The most concise criticism of the plan came from Zap. As much as I love Pavel, this is not a complete routine/program for most anyone. KB swings are not a pull of any kind. A swing is a hinge. There is no true upper body pull action at all (rowing or pull-up motion) and very minimal squat/lunge/quad stress. A HIGH INTENSITY APPROACH TO COLD WEATHER It has been a while since I last posted on Cold Weather Training. For those new to the site, I began experimenting with cold temperature exposure back in 2008 as way to “toughen up” after living in the perfect temperatures of San Diego for seven years. What I learned was that not only does cold CADMIUM AND POTATOES: TIME TO WORRY? Cadmium bioavailability from animal-based foods may be higher than that from vegetable-based foods. There appears to be something in plants that inhibits cadmium absorption. So absolute levels of cadmium will be different than the levels we actually absorb. The fact we are getting our cadmium from potatoes (a vegetable) makes it lessbioavailable.
ON HEALTH AND FITNESS ROLE MODELS Before I started digging deep into health and fitness, I only had two role models, which I picked based off their height and physique. Boxer Evander Holyfield and surfer Laird Hamilton were in great shape and the same height as me, so I hung their photos in my home gym. Laird Hamilton. Now I can recognize 4 types of health and fitness rolemodels.

That often means increasing calories and carbohydrates. Getting healthy hormonally is more paramount than weight management. Some people gain weight. FOUNDATION TRAINING IS THE REAL DEAL The Egoscue Exercises were more active and effective, but required a much larger time commitment. Foundation solves both those issues. Foundation Training is the best, most time efficient set of exercises for the back and glutes I’ve ever done. FOUNDATION TRAINING IS THE REAL DEAL Back in April, I received an excellent recommendation from Tezza in the comments. You might want to try some exercises by a guy named Eric Goodman (Foundation Training). They seem to be more related to the lower back but they are meant to help the POTATO HACKING FOR THE RELUCTANT Haha – Nice try! Welcome to “acceptance.” 5lbs of spuds have about 45g of protein, so the potato hack is not totally devoid of protein. If you are actively trying to build muscle, you’ll want to eat considerably more than the recommended amounts (ie. .8g/kg), but for a couple of rest days, even a couple weeks, you can easily get by on 30-40g/day without losing hard-earned muscle. REVERSING GRAY HAIR? PART 2 A year and half ago I posted on the idea that the amino acid L-Tyrosine might be able to reverse or delay gray hair.
