Care 4 Kids has a second income eligibility limit of < 65% of state median income (SMI) to families whose redetermination date is 10/01/2019 and beyond. This means that a family can stay on the program if they meet all program eligibility requirements and their new income remains less than 65% SMI at redetermination. To qualify your family must: Currently be on Care 4 Kids assistance. Have an income less than 65% SMI. What’s SMI? REIMBURSEMENT FOR MANDATORY REGISTRATION FEES Effective October 1, 2019, Care 4 Kids providers, excluding unlicensed relatives, that charge a mandatory registration fee to families can request reimbursement for the registration fee during the child’s eligibility period. Providers should download the revised Parent Provider Agreement (PPA) form to request this reimbursement. MANDATORY PROVIDER ORIENTATION AND ANNUAL TRAINING All Care 4 Kids providers are required to complete mandatory provider orientation and annual training as required by federal law. EXCITING NEWS FROM CARE 4 KIDS FOR FAMILY CHILD CARE PROVIDERS As a part of the Connecticut State Employees Association (CSEA-SEIU Local 2001) Union Agreement with the Office of Early Childhood (OEC), all active Care 4 Kids licensed family child care providers and unlicensed relative providers will receive retroactive payments for provider rate increases. The retroactive payments are effective October 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019.
