RESEARCHER UPDATE: APRIL/MAY 2021 Accepting Letters of Intent for CURE Epilepsy Catalyst Award Starting June 1, 2021. The CURE Epilepsy Catalyst Award is available to researchers at non-academic research institutions, including small biotechnology companies, and universities who seek to develop new interventions for epilepsy. Applicants with academic appointments must be at or above the level of Assistant Professor.PERSONAL STORIES
Erin was a beautiful person and perfect daughter. I miss her beyond belief. "I can show that living with epilepsy is what you make of it, even as a single parent." "Later that day I decided that I would not let epilepsy control my life." "So, keep smiling and keep fighting: it is a practical mindset and way of life." EPILEPSY AND IEPS: SUPERMOMS TO THE RESCUE Stacey Pigott is the mother of Evan, Henry, and Eva, very apropos to our conversation. She has a Bachelor’s in Education and an MA in Liberal Studies from Northwestern University. Additionally, Stacey has been a volunteer with CURE, Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy, for the past 10 years. She is now the Chair-Elect for the CURE boardEOIN'S STORY
Eoin was first diagnosed with Benign Myoclonic Epilepsy. He would have hundreds of myoclonic seizures each day. So frequent were those seizures that his infant’s bouncy seat seemed motorized by some unseen force. Up and down he would jump. At two years, that diagnosis was changed to Startle-induced Myoclonic Epilepsy. PHYSICAL ACTIVITY STATUS AND QUALITY OF LIFE IN PATIENTS Abstract, originally published in Epilepsy Research. Purpose: People with epilepsy (PWE) tend to have sedentary lifestyles which may predispose them to a lower perceived quality of life (QOL).Moreover, the relationship between physical activity (PA) and QOL in populations of PWE with high disease burden has been under-studied.
