You can take it off if you want to. the chain guard helps prevent things from getting cought in the chain. like stones that your tire kicks up into the wheel well that fall back on the chain. a stone in a chain can so some damage. also it keeps stuff like pant legs away from the chain, I don't worry about this DO YOU ICE YOUR CAMELBAKS? Edit: That sometimes involves cutting open the bottle if you wanted maximum ice. Of course, we didn't have amenities such as ice cubes out there, so they would work far easier. :laughing. The coils started out giving a good strong spark, but deteriorated pretty quickly. I bought a used set from a salvage yard and they had a strong spark at first, but they also went bad. The rmx weights a few pounds more than the rm, but it's just because of the added electrical gear. Both have the same frame/suspension/engine (51hp :drool)/etc. MOTORCYCLE CHAINS VS. INDUSTRIAL CHAINS Motorcycle 520 chain has 5/8" pitch and 1/4" witdh. 530 chain has 5/8" pitch and 3/8" width. 630 chain has 3/4" pitch and 3/8" width. As RCM said, 520's are also more common on the track, but if you're only going to be doing street riding, I'd recommend converting to a 530 chain and sprockets. FRONT TIRE DIRECTION ARROW As for telling if your tire or wheel is installed correctly, look at the bike from either side. the arror should point in the direction the wheel will turn if moving forward. So, if the arrow on the top is pointing towards the front of the bike, the arrow on the bottom will be pointing towards the back of the bike - and this is the correct WILL RIDING MY BIKE WITHOUT A MUFFLER HURT IT? Without the muffler, the bike will probably run lean. Too lean and all sorts of serious damage can result. The best overall solution is to put the can back on avoid further reckless experimentation. When I was a kid I used to do stuff like that to my bike also, but I discovered that when the bike was excessively loud I had to run much slower Z-MAX DOES IT WORK??? 1980 GS450 PETCOCK/CARB ISSUES..... hello, i just picked up a 1980 suzuki gs450 for nothing. this bike had not been ridden in 7 years. the petcock was leaking so i opened it up to find the vacuum diaphram was deteriorated. so i removed it and put it back together with some sealant. no longer a leak. i also removed the vacuum line from carb to petcock. The same people that are concerned about that are probably saying the electricals suck and they leak oil. 30 years ago that was something to bitch about, but with today's engineering the only way to tell the difference is the exhaust note and that is why Triumph does it, purenostalgia.

Essentially there is some European method of measuring the length a chain has stretched to determine wear and it does so by taking a fixed length object and measuring how well (or poorly) it fits in the links of the chain. THOSE WHO USE SIMPLE GREEN TO CLEAN YOUR CHAIN... I asked my Mechanic what he uses to clean chains, and he told me to just use a rag and wd40. CAN VINYL TUBES STAND GASOLINE? I got some clear vinyl tubes and it says the tubes can be used for chemicals, gases (like air), and greases but can it withstand gasoline? WHICH BIKE DO YOU THINK IS BEST ALL AROUND Trust me here, having owned an XX and ridden a 12R extensively Besides the seat, the 12R is as much an all arounder as the XX. But the split seat really hampers 2up riding So the edge would slightly lean towardsthe XX then.
270 V. 360 FIRING ORDER (PROS/CONS) On the new Triumphs a 360 degree crank is nothing to be worried about.
