DART 1.21: GENERIC METHOD SYNTAX We've had generic methods and functions for a while in strong mode. 1.21 introduces support for generic method syntax even without strong mode. Libraries can use this feature and work in both contexts, providing a stepping stone to full generic methods in all Dart code. However, this feature does not yet provide full runtime support forgeneric
CHANGES AT DARTLANG.ORG Some other changes we made: Feature the pages that people visit most often. Show the core goals of the project on the homepage. Completely rework the information architecture, from domains down to individual pages and sections. Set up events.dartlang.org for hosting event-related micro-sites. Reimplement the sites to make maintenanceeasier.
TRY DART IN YOUR BROWSER The team compiled dart2js (a Dart to JavaScript compiler) with dart2js to produce a web app that lets you write and test Dart code in your browser. Try Dart is an easy way to experiment with Dart. The in-browser playground supports HTML, runs offline, and comes pre-loaded with a few examples. Please enjoy, and let us know if youhave any feedback.
DART 1.22: FASTER TOOLS, ASSERT MESSAGES, COVARIANT OVERRIDES Dart 1.22 is now available. It introduces a sync/async union type, assert messages, covariant parameter overrides, and much more. Tool startup is now much faster. Get it now! USING DART WITH SUBLIME TEXT If you’re looking for a more featured editor, you can try out our Dart Editor, the Dart plugin for Eclipse, or the Dart plugin for IntelliJ / Webstorm. The Dart plugin for Sublime Text 2 is open source on GitHub, and we’d love to accept contributions.Install the plugin today, and if you have any questions, you can find us on our mailing list and Stack Overflow. TYPES AND CASTING IN DART Post by Seth Ladd Bob Nystrom, engineer on the Dart team, posted a nice response to some questions posed to the mailing list about types, assignments, and casting. I thought this was a good way to phrase the issues, so I am posting here for others to find and enjoy. MAKING A DART WEB APP OFFLINE-CAPABLE: 3 LINES OF CODE Have you ever tried to load a web application (maybe a game or a measurement converter) and couldn’t use it because the network was down? That’s an awful experience, but luckily we have the technology to make such apps available for our users. METHOD CASCADES IN DART The idea of a cascaded method invocation originates in Smalltalk, and has been proposed for Dart. The motivation is to make it easier to write more fluent interfaces. Usually, fluent interfaces rely on method chaining. Say you want to add a large number of elements to a table: myTokenTable.add ("aToken"); myTokenTable.add ("anotherToken");DARTPAD

UNBOXING PACKAGES: PATH 1: If it were up to me, the File class’s methods would be top-level functions as well.. 2: We also support url paths, but these were added later on.. 3: There’s one exception to this rule: path calls Uri.base to figure out the working directory for operations like relative(), which is an IO operation and so could theoretically fail. In pratice, though, it basically never does. DART 1.12 RELEASED, WITH NULL-AWARE OPERATORS AND MORE Dart 1.12 Released, with Null-Aware Operators and more. August 31, 2015. CREATE YOUR OWN REST API WITH DART We created Dart to help make developers as productive as possible. While we were building Dart Pad (a browser-based app to help developers learn Dart), we didn't want to spend a lot of time writing boilerplate code for serialization or routing in the REST API. We built the RPC package to help make building REST APIs easier, and today we're happy to announce that it is open source and ready NEW SETUP/TEARDOWN IN UNIT TEST LIBRARY June 21, 2012. Our unit tests now support setUp/tearDown functions. To use these you need to put the tests within a group (). Inside the group body, in addition to calling test () you can call setUp () and/or tearDown () with function arguments. The setUp function will be called before each test and tearDown after each test. AQUEDUCT - A SERVER-SIDE WEB FRAMEWORK WRITTEN IN DART After spending a year building Aqueduct in a relative vacuum, the stable|kernel team went into the Dart Summit with a lot excitement! Finally, we got to share our server-side web framework with the community it was built for: web and mobile developers who want to build an entire stack in Dart. DART LANGUAGE NEARS M1 STATE The language spec is nearing its M1 state, the core libraries have been unified, the VM and dart2js implement more M1 features, and the editor improves on static analysis, refactorings, and quick fixes. Details. Dart language specification: 0.11 spec nearing completion: all M1 features covered. Dart libraries :__
