Blue Marsh Lake. In Pennsylvania, Blue Marsh Lake is an impoundment of Tulpehocken Creek, a tributary to the Schuylkill River. Water flow is controlled by a dam on Tulpehocken Creek. The lake is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (ASACE). Its primary purpose is to provide flood control to part of the Schuylkill River Valley. LURE DEPTH INFORMATION The speed of the water is the biggest single factor effecting depth. Water speed is the sum of the boat speed and the current velocity and vector. In the Chesapeake Bay currents can vary from less than .5 knots to as much as 5 or 6 knots depending on conditions and location. Even a slight increase in speed affects lure depth drastically. THE MARINE ELECTRIC WRECK The Marine Electric Wreck. The Marine Electric was a coal carrier. She was originally built in 1944 and then refitted in 1962 to be 607 feet long. Blue Marsh Lake. In Pennsylvania, Blue Marsh Lake is an impoundment of Tulpehocken Creek, a tributary to the Schuylkill River. Water flow is controlled by a dam on Tulpehocken Creek. The lake is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (ASACE). Its primary purpose is to provide flood control to part of the Schuylkill River Valley. GRAY TROUT (WEAKFISH) Gray trout are caught using a variety of methods including fishing with live bait, cut bait, casting artificial lures, trolling, and fly fishing.
