HISTORY - DICOM STANDARD DICOM ® is a Standard for communication of medical imaging information. Selected highlights of its history are shown below: 1980 In the beginning it was very difficult for anyone other than manufacturers of computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) devices to decode the images that the machines generated, or to print them. 1983AI AND DICOM
AI And DICOM. Artificial Intelligence (AI) in medical imaging is important from an interoperability standpoint. Just as modalities are producing DICOM instances, pre-processing and post-processing systems are creating secondary objects, and humans are supplementing DICOM studies with their own objects, there is a role to play for machine RADIATION DOSE RECORDING The DICOM Standard has defined a set of Radiation Dose Structured Report (RDSR) data objects for recording and storing dose details in a DICOM study. These templates have been developed in cooperation with medical physicists to incorporate common summary metrics such as CT Dose Index (CTDI), Dose Length Product (DLP), Dose Area Product (DAP SECURITY - DICOM STANDARD Security. DICOM is the international standard for medical imaging. It has been developed since the early nineties and has roots that go back even further. So how does such a mature – or should we say old – standard hold itself in the modern world of IT, with data in the clouds, hackers accessing our (medical) systems, ransomware inWG-26: PATHOLOGY
Scope: WG26's scope is to support and develop the DICOM Standard so the Pathology Domain can handle their whole slide images and also the macros when it comes to produce, store and communicate. We also want to make it possible for the domain to be a part of the whole healthcare process by open up those system when it comes tointeroperability
APPROVED SUPPLEMENTS The proposed supplement defines a generic framework for the description of radiation dose amongst the different CBCT applications. It retains the capability to store legacy dosimetric values (e.g., CTDI, DAP), while allowing for reduced dependence on modality-specific conditions for populating fields.STORE (STOW-RS)
