DPCARS FOR SALE
The Stiletto project is for sale - includes CAD, tooling and manufacturing rights. The car that we're building right now isobviously included.
RANDOM RESEARCH DP1
And so after a half hour of piloting the 26' U-Haul land barge to Scappoose I finally see the dp1 bodywork in the flesh. The whole thing weighs 41.6 lbs (it will be even less after trimming) and is surprisingly rigid. Cool! The surface has a lot of small, mostly cosmetic problems. 08/11/09 The new 3.0L V8 is now assembled and has run for the first time on the dyno at Hartley - this is the engine that's going in the first V8 dp1.This is an evolution of the 2.8L unit that is in the Atom and we're shooting for 500hp with this one. Besides the larger displacement (achieved by using a stroker crank and a spacer under the cylinder blocks) this motor has high performance camsPALATOV DP1 V8

ARIEL ATOM - DPCARS.NET ariel atom. 12/16/06 A few days ago I was ordering some parts and realised I need an oil filter and a remote mount. No problem. Visualised the best mount configuration and ordered that, then saw 'Fram Racing Filter' and thinking it's just the ticket added that to the order as well. So yesterday everything shows up and this thing isHUGE!

03/10/05 Well, after much labor the shop space is now ready to use - or close enough for the moment.The frame arrived yesterday, the powdercoated suspension arms should be ready in a day or two, a lot of the bolts are here, rodends should show up today ($1,500 worth of ARIEL ATOM - DPCARS.NET 11/07/14 Have yet to pick up the car - a bit of trouble lining up a tow vehicle for the trailer.Checked into shipping it and it's too much money for what is just a 300 mile straight shot up I-5 (quotes ranged from $600 open to $1500 enclosed). The dp4 would be the entry-level track machine and racer, the dp1 is the over-the-top ultimate lightweight car with crazy power/weight. 8/25/16 There was a pause in the D47 progress because we had to design and make fixtures for the alignment-critical parts like suspension pickups, as well as plates that will allow us to put the chassis into the rotisserie for final welding.Now that that's done, things have moved along. Once the ends are fixtured, full frame can be tackedtogether.

02/17/05 Got the suspension arm gussets in. Somebody had commented that getting those laser-cut and CNC bent was 'overkill' - not so.It's just a modern reality. The parts ended up costing me $6 apiece in quantity 32. Made the old-fashioned way they would have been $14-20apiece.

07/31/09 So far the controller has been set at a 40% torque limit (100 NM) and 150A.Even with that the car is entertaining, as this onboard video of running around a parking lot shows (no it's not me driving :). 8/25/16 There was a pause in the D47 progress because we had to design and make fixtures for the alignment-critical parts like suspension pickups, as well as plates that will allow us to put the chassis into the rotisserie for final welding.Now that that's done, things have moved along. Once the ends are fixtured, full frame can be tackedtogether.

03/10/05 Well, after much labor the shop space is now ready to use - or close enough for the moment.The frame arrived yesterday, the powdercoated suspension arms should be ready in a day or two, a lot of the bolts are here, rodends should show up today ($1,500 worth of DP WESTFIELD MEGABUSA 12/16/01 Test-fitting the engine and riveting some of the interior panels (now that the rivets have showed up). There is a problem with the fit of the engine mounts/cradles. I'm hoping that it's just something I'm doing wrong. There is no picture or instructions in the manual as to how the engine mount plates that bolt to the head interface to the top cradle/crossbrace. DP WESTFIELD MEGABUSA 7/22/02 Got the oil pan back on with the new bolts, and found a much better adapter for the oil pressure sensor. Also redid a lot of the dry sump plumbing connections, correctly this time I hope. DP TRAVEL - DPCARS.NET 5/1-5/4/21 Quick trip to Puerto Vallarta for Tristan's wedding. This is consistent with my 'strobe light travel' philosophy - short but memorable trips. I wasn't even planning on going until three weeksago.

The first thing to be bult on it will be the dp1 compositechassis.

Visualised the best mount configuration and ordered that, then saw 'Fram Racing Filter' and thinking it's just the ticket added that to the order as well. And so after a half hour of piloting the 26' U-Haul land barge to Scappoose I finally see the dp1 bodywork in the flesh. The whole thing weighs 41.6 lbs (it will be even less after trimming) and is surprisingly rigid. Cool! The surface has a lot of small, mostly cosmetic problems. Supposedly this is normal. Still a lot of work to do before it's drivable even as a bare frame but this is the first time it really looks like a car and one can get a sense for its proportions.
