Combinando los medios de comunicación masivos con prácticas sociales heterogéneas cuestionan la gestión vertical y centralizada del acceso por parte de las instituciones públicas y privadas históricamente asociadas con el arte, la ciencia, la cultura, la economía, la política y la tecnología como los museos, las galerías, las bibliotecas, los archivos, las editoriales, los laboratorios, las universidades, la prensa, las empresas, los bancos, los hospitales, los transportes, los gobiernos, los partidos, lasfábricas, etc.
Los proyectos que ensayan modelos de gestión más horizontales y descentralizados aparecen en la World Wide Web asociados a términos de reciente aparición como acceso abierto, datos abiertos, contenido abierto, educación abierta, gobierno abierto, diseño abierto, open source hardware, espectro abierto, ciencia abierta, criptomoneda, periodismo ciudadano, ciencia ciudadana, economía colaborativa, crowdfunding, crowdsourcing, software libre, cultura libre, p2p, el urbanismo táctico… Estos términos de nuevo cuño conviven con otros de más larga data como el procomún, el dominio público, los bancos de tiempo, los medios comunitarios, la economía solidaria, las monedas sociales, la criptografía, las cooperativas, los medios tácticos, el DIY o la piratería. Todos ellos constituyen el vocabulario de las modalidades de acceso del presente. La colección reúne proyectos surgidos en diferentes países desde la segunda mitad del siglo XX hasta nuestros días, con especial atención a aquellos aparecidos en México por ser éste el país donde comienza la investigación. La única condición es que los proyectos estén asociados al vocabulario de acceso del presente, apostando por la participación de los públicos en todos los dominios de actividad social. La colección incluye por igual proyectos puestos en marcha por instituciones públicas y privadas, organizaciones, colectivos, grupos y actores diversos de la sociedad civil, ya que el cuestionamiento de la gestión vertical y centralizada del acceso por parte de las instituciones históricamente asociadas a los diferentes dominios está teniendo lugar dentro y fuera de ellas. La colección responde de este modo a la convivencia e hibridación actual entre nuevos y viejos modelos de gestión del acceso que presentan grados diversos de centralización y descentralización, de verticalidad yhorizontalidad.
CATALOGAR
Los proyectos se catalogan siguiendo las categorías y subcategorías asociadas a las tres secciones principales en las que se divide el wiki. En DOMINIOS se indexan los proyectos según su adscripción principal a uno o varios dominios: Arte, Ciencia, Cultura, Economía, Política y Tecnología. En PÚBLICOS se etiquetan los proyectos a partir de su universo lingüístico, geográfico y temporal. Se recogen todos los Idioma(s) en los que se publica cada proyecto, el País(es) de inicio, el Año de inicio y el Año de finalización. En ACCESO se clasifican los proyectos siguiendo el vocabulario de las modalidades de acceso del presente. Como este vocabulario aparece y se populariza sobre todo en inglés, las categorías del menú principal aparecen en este idioma: Citizen, Collaborative, Commons, Coops, Crowd, Crypto, DIY, Free, Future, Grassroots, Open, P2P, Pirate, Private, Public, Tactical. La traducción se encuentra en las subcategorías que amplían además las formas de acceso vinculadas con cada categoría en inglés y en español. Para dar cuenta de cómo el vocabulario de las formas de acceso se diversifica con el uso el wiki permite ir agregando nuevas categorías y subcategorías siguiendo los términos que los proyectos aplican para definir sus propuestas. Cuando los términos no se muestran de manera explícita o aparecen bajo una versión solo ligeramente diferente se asignan bajo el buen criterio de la investigadora a las categorías y subcategorías ya indexadas. Solamente las categorías Private y Public, y las subcategorías No lucrativo/Nonprofit (Private), Lucrativo/Profit (Private) y Estado/State (Public) forman parte de la catalogación de todos los proyectos. De este modo se distinguen las iniciativas públicas del Estado de todas las demás y se indica el modelo de negocio y el estatuto legal del proyecto cuando aparecen claramente publicados. Estos criterios de catalogación se aplican también a proyectos que carecen de personalidad jurídica o que no publican con claridad cuál sea su estatuto legal. Toda la información necesaria para la catalogación se extrae de los sitios web de los proyectos. Incluso la fuente principal de la que se extraen los proyectos que se van incorporando a la colección son los vínculos que ellos mismos establecen con otras iniciativas. Solo en casos excepcionales se recurre a fuentes de información secundarias para completar la catalogación. De este modo se va armando el vocabulario de las formas de acceso del presente en un ejercicio que no pretende ser exhaustivo. La selección es personal y depende de los recorridos en línea que realiza cada investigadora registrando los proyectos de su conocimiento en el wiki. El ejercicio de clasificación es un gesto poético que establece una narrativa posible con la intención de ordenar un mundo de proyectos en transformación. A estas mutaciones intentará responder el wiki, adaptándose a los cambios que vendrán sin borrar los cambios que alguna vez tuvieron lugar. Los responsables de proyectos catalogados que no estén de acuerdo con los dominios, los públicos o las modalidades de acceso asignados pueden siempre modificarlos. Lo más importante no es defender el orden aquí establecido sino ofrecer una herramienta de trabajo y consulta útil a todas las interesadas.CONSERVAR
El objetivo es conservar la memoria de los PROYECTOS que aparecen y desaparecen día a día en diferentes países aprovechando las herramientas disponibles en línea. Como se trata de proyectos recientes todos cuentan (o contaban) con un sitio web que se archiva en Wayback Machine , el servicio gratuito que ofrece Internet Archive para conservar páginas web en el formato WARC. Además de los proyectos se conserva para futuras generaciones toda la DOCUMENTACIÓN del wiki en InternetArchive .
Internet Archive es una biblioteca digital ubicada en San Francisco (Estados Unidos) gestionada como organización sin ánimo de lucro. Se dedica desde 1996 a preservar archivos digitales de texto, imagen, sonido, video y sitios web. En 2013 lanzó el servicio gratuito de preservación de sitios web como parte de Wayback Machine del que depende todo el trabajo de conservación que se realiza en el wiki. Lo ideal sería contar con infraestructura propia pero por ahora eso queda muy lejos del alcance técnico y económico de la colección.DOCUMENTAR
La DOCUMENTACIÓN ofrece fuentes de información complementaria en torno a los proyectos y las formas de acceso en siete secciones diferentes. Las ENTREVISTAS siguen un cuestionario publicado por el fanzine _Radical Software_ en 1970. El cuestionario se aplica a todos los responsables de proyectos que deseen participar aportando su testimonio sin importar de dónde vengan, la edad que tengan, cuál sea su perfil profesional o su preferencia sexual. Aunque las preguntas del cuestionario fueron planteadas varias décadas antes por parte de activistas y artistas del video y la TV con el fin de conocerse mejor entre sí, siguen conservando su vigencia en el contexto actual. Lo único que se modificó del cuestionario fueron los medios en discusión. La TV se ha sustituido por Internet como canal de distribución y el hipertexto de la World Wide Web ocupa el lugar del video. La idea es dar voz y rostro a los proyectos que son el resultado del trabajo de personas concretas, aunque siempre se puede aportar un testimonio desde el anonimato ligando solamente la entrevista al proyecto donde el entrevistado colabora. Los MANIFIESTOS exponen todo tipo de posturas, reaccionarias y progresistas, que testimonian presentes en transformación emplazando sus posiciones en la historia del género y su relación con los medios de comunicación masivos. Es posiblemente el género literario predilecto de los públicos de hoy. Empresas, gobiernos, organismos internacionales, artistas, activistas, científicos, periodistas, hackers... todas ellas parecen tener algo que declarar sobre los dominios, los públicos y el acceso. Nuevos manifiestos aparecen y viejos manifiestos se olvidan, por ello esta colección incompleta por definición ofrece una selección que espera ser enriquecida con nuevas contribuciones. Respetando la larga trayectoria del género se puede incluir cualquier manifiesto anterior a la segunda mitad del siglo XX donde se exprese una posición sobre el uso y la función de los medios de comunicación masivos y se cuestionen las formas de acceso vigentes en su época. A esta colección histórica se pueden sumar manifiestos recientes vinculados con los medios de la actualidad y las formas de acceso del presente indexadas en el wiki. Todos ellos se catalogan en función del Idioma(s), País(es) de inicio, Año de inicio, Autoras y Editoriales. La BIBLIOTECA agrupa libros, artículos, noticias, informes y cualquier texto dedicado a las formas de acceso y los proyectos indexados en el wiki que se encuentren disponibles para su consulta y descarga en línea. Se excluyen materiales con licencias que penalicen su circulación y distribución gratuita. Es otra colección incompleta por definición que no aspira a ser exhaustiva pero que invita a quien desee contribuir a sumar nuevos textos. Cualquier documento relevante para los debates del presente y las reflexiones del futuro en torno a los dominios, los públicos y el acceso es bienvenido. Todos ellos se catalogan en función del Idioma(s), País(es) de inicio, Año de inicio, AUTORAS y EDITORIALES.DISCUTIR
La razón de catalogar, conservar y documentar los proyectos responde al hecho de que los límites del acceso a los dominios del arte, la ciencia, la cultura, la economía, la política y la tecnología nunca han sido estables y seguirán cambiando en el futuro. A fin de ofrece un panorama lo más amplio posible de las diferentes formas de acceso que van surgiendo para futuras generaciones se incluyen todo tipo de proyectos no solo heterogéneos sino incluso antagónicos. Sin importar si se trata de iniciativas públicas, privadas o surgidas de la sociedad civil, con fines de lucro o no lucrativos, locales o globales, de activistas, artistas, empresarios, hackers, políticos, científicos... hacia la izquierda o la derecha del espectro político, este wiki reúne ejemplos de todas ellas. Los límites históricos del acceso no se establecen solamente a través del consenso sino desde las posiciones antagónicas que pugnan entre sí por delimitar su alcance en un momento y lugar determinados. El wiki recoge los términos que informan las discusiones actuales en torno al acceso sin tomar partido por ninguno. Al mostrar este vocabulario en su pluralidad y organizarlo por países, se ofrece una herramienta a través de la cual todas las interesadas puedan participar en la discusión o hacerse una idea de las posibilidades disponibles en su propio contexto para juzgar por sí mismas los riesgos y las oportunidades que cada modalidad de acceso y cada iniciativa pone en juego. La importancia otorgada en la catalogación a las modalidades de acceso Public y Private hace que la ausencia de lo común resalte con más fuerza. No se trata con ello de negar la renovación del procomún y el resurgimiento de prácticas de gestión colectiva presentes en las nuevas formas de acceso sino de situarlas en el espacio de conflictos provocado por la crisis del Estado moderno. Tanto los proyectos de corte global y neoliberal cuanto los proyectos de orientación local y comunitaria comparten entre sí el cuestionamiento de la gestión pública. Destacar, fomentar e informar la discusión en torno a esta situación particular que caracteriza el presente es parte fundamental de los cometidos de la colección.COLABORAR
Para ello la colección se ha organizado en un wiki donde cualquiera que desee colaborar es bienvenido. Buscamos colaboradoras interesadas en formar parte del equipo de investigación. La colaboración puede consistir en catalogar un nuevo proyecto, corregir o ampliar una entrada sobre un proyecto ya registrado, proponer iniciativas para que sean catalogadas dejándolas En espera, subir bibliografía, realizar entrevistas y publicarlas, incluir más manifiestos, enviarnos sugerencias y críticas para que podamos mejorar, realizar nuevas actividades presenciales en otros lugares, etc. Solo desde la experiencia local se pueden complementar y discutir las tendencias globales.
