The question was about the difference between a strategy, a plan, and a process. It came about because while we expect on paper most people could match these three words to their appropriate definitions, in practice, they get confused. (This article is a summary of the issues discussed in Duncan’s 21 May 2008 presentation at the Generic Medicine Industry Association conference in Sydney Australia.) Novartis’s ongoing stoush with the Madras High Court in India created quite a stir on the world stage late last year. TECHNOLOGY & IP STRATEGY The June 2007 edition of LESI's les Nouvelles carried an interesting article by Dr Adrian Carter from Boehringer Ingelheim on co-promotion and co-marketing partnerships in the pharmaceutical industry. In it, he cites the well known strategic choices between 'block' (preventing competition), 'run' (outpacing competition with new products) and 'team-up' (collaborating with potential competitors FAILURE TO PROTECT IP (NO.1 IN OUR LIST OF IP MISTAKES Failure to protect IP is often a consequence of one or more other mistakes, inclusive of those that follow on our list of 33.
