ECONOMY 7 PROBLEMS
My economy 7 has not been working properly for some time - both storage heaters and the hot water system stopped working for a while, then suddenly came back intermittently. One day I will get up and will have no heat/hot water at all (so have to use the boosters), then the next day it will be wo EICR CLASSIFICATION FOR NO SMOKES OR CO2 DETECTION Evening all Did an EICR today and although install up to a very good standard. The one issue I did note was the lack of any smokes, heat detectors or co2 monitors. It has a gas supply to apartment and it is a communal block. I have checked 18th ed and guide to building regs and they only seem to PHOTOCELL LIGHT STAYING ON ALL DAY Hi guys in need of some knowledge please. The problem i have is that I have an outside light that is controlled by a photocell but it stays on all day now. I have gotten a new photocell and fitted it but the sme problem still exists. Can anyone help. STORAGE HEATER PROBLEMS there are 2 main faults with storage heaters. no heat or lack of heatNo heat: 1: make sure switch is on overnight. most have a neon so at night you can easily see if there is a supply to it. be aware that this supply is usually economy 7 and only works during night - usually around 12-7am2: if st GARAGE CONSUMER UNIT HELP PLEASE I am wondering if any one can help me please? I am having power put into my shed come office to to save myself money with the electrician I want to wire all the plug sockets and the light up myself, something which I am more than capable of doing. The problem I RCD PROTECTION IN BATHROOMS However, under the current regulations they must be rcd protected. You can use mains voltage lighting in the bathroom, providing the IP rating is adequate for the intended use. I personally would never place a mains voltage light above a shower though, prefering toELECTRICITY SUPPLY
Apologise if this not being posted in the right place. We are working on a development to split an existing house into 2 small individual flats. The planning application perspective and paper work aspect have been completed. And whilst the intention is to use the 2 flats for ourown personal use

When you measure Zs you will have additional bonding in place which can reduce the Zdb to below that of your Zs, so if your Ze is on the limit for the supply type, your bonding has a really low resistance to earth and you are testing a short circuit then this is WHAT DO GAS REG SAY ON BONDING? So WE have to bond withing 600mm of point of entry or before a branch. Scenario. Gas meter at front of house. LONG steel pipe all the way round to the back where it branches and enters the property in 2 places for the gas cooker and boiler. I am planning to put0.4S AND 5S
As stepse implies.. and IMHO the 'WHY' bit of 0.4 sec -vs- 5 sec Disconnection times comes back to some of the historic reasons in earlier regs.. e.g. If you look back at the yellow cover On-site guide 16th edition page 19 it states that a 0.4 disconnection time is required for all final circuits supplying:-. DOWNLIGHTS IN LATH AND PLASTER Using a holesaw bursts the lath off the back of the plaster causing utter devastation. Messy and time consuming, but it does work. Ive recently put 20 downlights and 2x 10" speakers into a lath&plaster ceiling, use a really sharp holesaw, it will probably be blunt afterabout 5 holes BTW,
HOW TO REMOVE SCREWLESS SWITCH-PLATE Hello,Have just noticed that the living-room light switch is sparking behind the switch-plate. (It only does so when the light switch is in the off position). Its a screwless switch-plate, just a large square plastic switch toggle almost as large as the switch-plate its on. Iwant to remove from
MOVING A CEILING LIGHT TO THE CENTRE OF A ROOM A freind would like me to repostion a light to the centre of the room- does anyone have a method to get cable through the ceiling as there is no access ( loft is now a spare bedroom and carpet / floor cannot be touched)- I am currently thinking eithier making a chanel across the ceiling or trying to fish cable to the new position.HIGH R1 ON RING
Hi,Tested a board this morning before Im changing it tomorrow or Wednesday.End to Ends. r1 - r1 = 620 ohmsrn - rn = 0.41 ohmsr2 - r2 = 0.96 ohmsThe house has one ring circuit for whole house. Total 15 single sockets.Whats the best/quickest way of CABLES UNDER INSULATION IN LOFT Posted April 29, 2012. The regs covering the derating cables that are buried in insulation are generally considered to be more concerned with dense foam-type insulation such as Kingspan, Celotex etc. Standard loft insulation has a high air-to-material ratio and doesn't normally affect the dispersion of heat to any major degree.Jump to content
