Englefield Estate. Boy George & Culture Club have announced a series of exclusive UK outdoor shows as part of the Heritage Live Concert Series for 2021. The multi-million selling group will perform at some of the country’s most stunning venues and will perform at the Englefield Estate, near Reading in Berkshire, on Saturday 24th July. GARDENS AT THE ENGLEFIELD ESTATE Opening times. Our gardens are open to visitors every Monday throughout the year, including Bank Holidays, from 10.00am – 6.00pm April to October and 10.00am – 4.00pm November to March. The story of Englefield goes back to 871AD when a battle was fought on the hill above the village, marking an important victory by King Alfred over the Danes. The battlefield was named by the Saxons as ‘Anglefield’ or ‘Field of Angles’ which became Englefield over time. OUR PEOPLE AT THE ENGLEFIELD ESTATE Our people. The Estate is much more than a collection of land and buildings. At Englefield we recognise that Estate's success very much depends on the people who live and work upon it. The Estate employs a staff team of around 60 skilled people who support the delivery of a wide range of different business and community activities. FARMING ON THE ENGLEFIELD ESTATE Farming on the Englefield Estate. Farming on the Estate continues to make an important contribution to the rural economy, our landscape and the environment, while supporting many livelihoods and local communities. More than 70% of the Estate comprises farmland, much of this has been occupied by the same families for many generations.ENGLEFIELD ESTATE
Access to Englefield Village is not permitted. By train: The nearest railway station is Theale, which is just 2 miles away and 5 minutes in a taxi. Reading station is a 20 minute rail journey from London Paddington and then just a 7 mile drive to Englefield, which takes 15minutes in a taxi.
