While prices can vary dramatically depending on the condition of a Series 1 E-Type, typical prices range from the £40,000 region for a rusted “fixer-upper” to £230,000+ for a pristine FHC model. Series 1 Roadsters come in at a more expensive level, with a car requiring restoration work coming in anywhere between £100,000 -130,000.

After rebuilding my V12 E Type engine, now the question is: should I really go with mineral 20W50 oil to prevent oil leaks or better upgrade with synthetic 10W60 Castrol TWS oil. I mean 10W60 is no ultra modernHOW MUCH OIL??

You need LS80w-90 limited slip gear oil from any of the major manufacturers. Drain the diff first using the square bolt head on the bottom the case, replace, remove the filler bolt on the rear of the casing. You can then refill to the level of the hole. If the diff is in the car you use the long snout on the oil bottle to squirt the oilin.

RE ENAMELLING EXHAUST MANIFOLDS The main reason the enamel fails on the E-Type, as compared to various XJ's, is the louvre's on the bonnet. When driving in the rain there is not a problem, but if you brake in the rain water rushes forward through the louvre's and on to the hot manifolds. This causes the enamel to crack and after that the deterioration continues.WHICH BATTERY?

I have an XJS 2.88 lsd diff on my 6.0 litre V12 E-type, mated to a standard Jaguar 4 speed gearbox, and 16”x7” wheels. It works really well, with 2850 revs @ 70mph in top. The combination is superb with the V12 engine because of all the extra torque. A 2.88 Diff with a 4.2, standard ‘box, and 185 x 15 tyres, I think you might find ittoo

Hello, you cannot compare directly 0W30 with 10W60. 0W30 is much thinner when cold and 10W60 has much more heat resistance when the outside temperature is very high (for example in july here in Spain) AND the engine is running at high revs 10W60 was the only approved oil for Alpina B10 Biturbo, BMW M3, M5, Porsche GT2, Ferrari Enzo, Bugatti Veyron, Koenigsegg etc. = they should knowHOW MUCH OIL??

Chassis 850062. I see Steve Coogan and his E-type may be about to part company - it is offered at Silverstone auctions next sale. A side bonnet lock RHD car number 850062 it is pictured in the famous factory shot outside Browns lane with the first batch of demonstrators. Looks like a fine job has been done by XK engineering- the shut lines look E SI WITH XJ6 SIII OIL FILTER HOUSING If you have a genuine XJ6 filter head, there’s 2 bypasses in the system, and the pressure relief valve. One bypass is internal to the filter element, assuming you use a genuine Jaguar filter. This protects the engine if the filter is clogged, and limits the pressure drop across the filter. The 2nd bypass is across the cooler. RECOMMENDED ENGINE OIL Recommended engine oil I bet this has been covered before, but the search tool is rather a clumsy tool it seems, (or I'm doing it wrong) as it brings up every topic under the sun (would it not be better to go to the specific post that is the nearest match rather than a list of all the threads, as some threads are very long and not all postsare relevant)
BELLHOUSING BOLT SIZE Hi Alan. As I recall there are 3 bolt sizes relevant to the bell housing. All of the bolts that secure the bellhousing to the engine are 3/8 unf, length varies depending if fitted to brackets or into the block. The cover plate is secured via 1/4 unc and the bellhousing to gearbox uses 7/16 unf,secured via lock tabs or lock wire.* Showroom
