DATA WAREHOUSE FAILED TO DEPLOY REPORTS FOR A MANAGEMENT PACK TO SQL REPORTING SERVICES SERVER ‘MICROSOFT.VIRTUALIZATION.REPORTS.FORECASTMACHINEGROUPNETWORKIO’Leave a reply
After installing a Virtual Machine Manager 2012 R2 Rollup Update I always get this error. Apparently this is because a report for VMM already exists on the reporting server. Therefore here are the steps I take to get this solved: * Remove the VMM Report MP (Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2012 R2 Reports) from the SCOM Server * On the Reporting Servers Web site delete the VMM Report folder * Remove the VMM – SCOM connection using PowerShell: Remove-SCOpsMgrConnection -VMMServer vmmserver1 * Reestablish the connection between VMM and SCOM. This can take several minutes. You don’t need to configure the SQL Server Analysis Service if you don’t require it. * After a couple of minutes, the SCOM Alert should close itself.Advertisements

This event is created by the “Microsoft.SystemCenter.CollectATAEvents” SCOM rule that gets imported into SCOM when you connect your server to Microsoft Operations Management Suite OMS. This incorrect rule has been around for a while and is not fixed until today (3. Nov 2016). A workaround is to override this rule in SCOM. The rule is already disabled by default and is enabled for OMS connected computer. So basically created a new override that disabled the rule for the same group and set the override to enforce. The virtual machine and the VHDx file will be at the new location. However the old file has not been deleted. This can occur when the file permission on the VHD file is incorrect. You can quickly check if you see a access control entry starting with “NT VIRTUAL MACHINE\on October

AZURE ACTIVE DIRECTORY, AZURE SUBSCRIPTIONS, ACCOUNTS & ROLE BASEDACCESS CONTROL
Leave a reply
When you start to use Microsoft Azure you will soon need to understand these terms. This is essential for working with Azure. There are two good resources, apart from Microsoft’s own Azure documentation, that explain this very well: * Marius Sandbu wrote a very good post about this, I will just provide the link to his post: http://msandbu.org/overview-of-azure-active-directory-subscriptions-accounts-role-based-access-control/ * The Microsoft Virtual Academy has some short lessons on this byBob Tabor:

ADDING A WINDOWS SERVER 2012 HYPER-V CLUSTER NODE USING SYSTEM CENTER VIRTUAL MACHINE MANAGER – VMM 2012 SP1Leave a reply
I recently had to reinstall a failed Windows Server 2012 cluster node to an existing Windows server 2012 Hyper-V test cluster. Since I have System Center Virtual Machine Manager installation in this test environment I decided to add the Hyper-V node using only VMM 2012 SP1 when possible and not going with the Failover Cluster Manager. So here are the steps I executed: 1. INSTALLED WINDOWS SERVER 2012 USING A USB STICK. I used a USB stick with the Windows Server 2012 installation media to install the Windows server. 2. CONFIGURED THE NETWORK AND THE IPS AND JOINED THE SERVER TO THEDOMAIN.
There are two NICs for the converged Hyper-V cluster network and two NICs for the iSCSI network. The converged Hyper-V network will later be configured through VMM so I only configured the management IP address on one of the NICs. 3. INSTALLED THE LATEST WINDOWS UPDATE FROM THE WSUS SERVER. Since I had a WSUS server installed the download and update went quitequick.
4. ADDED THE HYPER-V HOST TO VMM. This installed the Hyper-V role automatically and added the VMMagents.
The VMM executed the task successfully. 5. CONFIGURED ISCSI CONNECTION TO THE SHARED SAN Since I don´t have a managed storage integrated in VMM using SMI-S, I added the iSCSI connection to the shared SAN locally on the Hyper-V host. If you do have you SAN integrated in VMM, assigning storage to the host can be done using VMM. Here´s how I configured it on thehost.

Then in VMM I did a host refresh to ensure that LUNs are show on the Hyper-V nodes Storage section. On the new Hyper-V host VH01 the LUNsare connected.
5. CONFIGURE THE VIRTUAL SWITCH Since I use a logical switch on the Hyper-V Cluster, need to configure the logical switch on the new cluster node as well. All definitions are already configured, so I only need to create the logical switch on the host and choose the NICs that will we used in the NIC team. Powered by wordads.co Thank you for submitting the report! Seen ad many times Not relevant Offensive Covers content Broken Report this ad Then I add the virtual network adapters. Remember: when you use the option THIS VIRTUAL NETWORK ADAPTER INHERITS SETTINGS FROM THE PHYSICAL MANAGEMENT ADAPTER, the first physical NIC from the logical switch created in the previous step is used. In my example, the settings from the Inter Gigabit CT Desktop Adapter will be applied to the Host virtual network adapter. Also notice, when this configuration is applied by VMM, that the Host virtual network adapter will not be named HOST in Windows. It will be called vEthernet (_Switch name)._ You can see that in the screenshot later. There I configure the live migration virtual network adapter. After completing the wizard, the network of the host will bereconfigured.
I looks like this. The new teamed adapter will be named after the switch name and a GUID is added to the name. Powered by wordads.co Thank you for submitting the report! ADD THE NODE TO THE CLUSTER Using the ADD CLUSTER NODE command on the cluster object in VMM, I added the the reinstalled host. This triggered a validation and I got the following error that did not allow proceed with the installation. VMM requires that all VM run the latest integration version when you add the host to the cluster. So I had to update the integration version of the VM first. I also updated the user agent on the newHyper-V host.
Now the adding of the cluster node completed. 7. CHANGING THE PREFERRED OWNER OF THE VMS After the host was added to the cluster, I had to change the preferred Owners settings for each VMs on the cluster. I enabled the reinstalled hosts to the Preferred Owners. In the UI you can find this in the Settings window of the VM. With many VMs on the cluster I would recommend using PowerShell to do that. Powered by wordads.co Thank you for submitting the report! Seen ad many times Not relevant Offensive Covers content Broken Report this ad 8. RUN A HOST OPTIMIZATION As a last step, I run a host optimization to manually balance the cluster. From the cluster object in VMM run the command OPTIMIZE HOSTS. I saw that the cluster was not optimized and started optimization manually. Now every thing was running nice and easy again! This entry was posted in Uncategorizedon August 31,

WHAT’S NEW IN REMOTE DESKTOP SERVICES (RDS) IN WINDOWS SERVER2012 R2
Leave a reply
Here’s a rundown of the new functionality in the area of Remote Desktop Services (RDS) in Windows Server 2012 R2 that was announced at TechEd 2012 in New Orleans. Let’s start with a general overview graph why you should use Microsofts VDI solution:*
Central data: One of the main reason to do VDI is to keep the corporate data in the corporation. With VDI, corporate date is not transported on laptops or other devices out side the company*
With Windows 8 and Server 2012 Microsoft provides a great user experience, powered by Remote FX and the new RDP protocol that give the end user an experience as he would sit in front of a physical computer. Microsoft made fundamental changes to the RDP protocol that now give the user a great experience, even when connecting to the corporation via WAN.*
With the new deployment mechanisms in Windows Server 2012, deploying and setting up a VDI solution is done in a orchestrated and automated way which saves time and reduces configuration issues. In Windows Server 2008 R2 the setup of the Microsoft VDI deployment was described in a 100 page file document. With Windows Serve 2012, a basic VDI deployment can be created using a wizard with little as six mouseclicks.
*
The management of VDI deployment is now done through a single and central console that allows you to administer all aspects of your VDI solution. With Windows Server 2008 R2 you had several MMC consoles to administer your VDI and session host deployment. With Windows Server 2012, you have a single console that allows you to manage your VDI deployment, your session host deployment and your RemoteApp deployment*
Storage cost reduction. With Windows Server 2012 you have the choice to use different kind of storage: DAS, Storage Spaces or SAN. This allows you to place the user data and operating system data on different storage regarding the cost and performance needs. Additionally, when using personal VDI deployments, R2 now supports data de-duplication for the operating system VHDs that reduces disk spaces which increases the density of personal VDI instances. Now to some NEW (AND OLD) FEATURES:*
SESSION SHADOWING: With Windows Server 2012 R2 session shadowing is now available again. With this, IT personal can shadow what a user is doing in his Remote Desktop session. This feature was already included in Windows Serve 2008 R2 and did not made it into the Windows Server 2012 release. Now with R2, it’s back in.*
ONLINE DISK DE-DUPLICATION: Disk de-duplication reduces the amount of storage needed for personal VDI machines greatly. Personal VDI machines use a full operating system that is not shared with another personal VDI machine. Therefore, the more personal VDI machines you are using, the more savings in disk space you will get.*
TIERED STORAGE SPACES: With 2012 R2 you can created storage pools that consists of physical disks and solid state disks. The operating system will then figure out which files (and blocks) are used the most and puts them on the solid state disks. Basically, you don’t need to plan where to put your most accessed data, the operating system willdo that for you.
*
DYNAMICALLY REMOVING AND ADDING MONITORS: When you are in a remote desktop session and you change the resolution of your local screen, the session will adopt this changes dynamically, not reconnect necessary anymore. Additionally, the operating system resolution of the remote desktop session resizes so that you don’t have to use the scrollbars to get to the edges of the screen or the start button. The same happens when you are on e.g. a Surface device and you rotate the device, the session adopt this change as well.*
IMPROVED REMOTEAPP BEHAVIOR: With R2, when you drag a RemoteApp across the desktop, you still see the full application instead of just the frame of the application. Additionally, you get a preview thumbnail of the application when it’s minimized in the taskbar.*
QUICKER RECONNECT: It used to take up to a minute to reconnect a user when the connection dropped. Now with R2, this reconnection time could be reduced to 5 seconds, in many cases.*
DX11.1 SUPPORT AND IMPROVED CODEC PERFORMANCE: The codecs that are used to sending pictures and video down to the user are improved for performance and bandwidth usage. This entry was posted in Uncategorizedon July 17,
