Wages are linked to the prices brands negotiate with factories, however several complex questions need to be addressed to ensure that workers see actual improvements.HOW WE WORK
We’re tackling complex problems by uncovering new solutions and driving step-by-step improvements that create real change for the people who work in garment factories. Four key activities make up the Fair Wear approach: brand performance checks, factory audits,LABOUR STANDARDS
The basis of the collaboration between Fair Wear and a member is the Code of Labour Practices (or Labour Standards). The core of this code is made up from eight labour standards derived from ILO Conventions and the UN’s Declaration on Human Rights. BECOME A MEMBER BRAND Become a member brand. We help conscious clothing brands create lasting change. We support brands that are determined to find a fairer way to make their clothes. We meet brands where they are – so that any brand can start its journey with us and take continued, practical steps to improve working conditions for people in garment factories. TAKING ACTION IN PRODUCTION COUNTRIES Taking action in production countries. PUSHING FOR LIVING WAGES Brands and factory owners alike are often surprised to find that it is possible to increase wages and still compete in this cutthroat industry. We look to ‘beacons’—or cases where we work with leading Fair Wear members to raise wages—as the starting point for industry change. Based on these experiences, we develop tools andguidance to
THREE CHANGES THAT WOULD STRENGTHEN THE LIEFERKETTENGESETZ The companies that make our clothes have a duty to respect human rights, wherever in the world their garments and footwear are produced. This is stated in the United Nations (UN) Guiding Principles on business and human rights.Fair Wear members have been showing how to do this for over two decades, but unfortunately, many enterprisesignore this duty.
TAKING MEANINGFUL ACTION TO SUPPORT GARMENT WORKERS IN The second wave of Covid-19 in India has severely disrupted supply chains and garment workers’ lives, along with causing the tragic loss of many lives and suffering in the nation.Toggle search
