WATER SYSTEM
The Fayette County Water System (" the System ") currently has a total production capacity of 22.8 million gallons per day (MGD). This capacity includes the 13.5 MGD at the Crosstown Water Plant, and 9.3 MGD from the South Fayette Water Plant. The City of Atlanta has also allocated 4.0 MGD to Fayette County. BUILDING SAFETY DEPARTMENT: OFFICIAL WEBSITE OF FAYETTE Mission Statement. Fayette County Department of Building Safety’s mission is delivering services to the citizens of Fayette County that will verify structures are constructed in accordance with the construction codes and standards for the purposes of safeguarding the safety, health and general welfare of the public from hazards attributed to the built environment. TAX ASSESSORS’ OFFICE Note: The Tax Assessors' Office does not generate tax bills, nor does it directly receive homestead and/or school exemption applications. KEMP, DUNCAN, RALSTON ANNOUNCE PLANS TO EXTEND PUBLIC HEALTH STATE OFEMERGENCY
FAYETTE COUNTY, GEORGIA, APRIL 8, 2020 – Governor Brian P. Kemp, Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan, and House Speaker David Ralston have announced plans to extend Georgia’s public health state of emergency through May 13, 2020 to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Under state law, the Governor may renew the public health state of emergency, which was otherwise set to expire on April 13, 2020. Lt. TRANSFER STATION - OPEN MULCH LOADING AREA - CLOSED FAYETTE COUNTY, GEORGIA, APRIL 2, 2020 – – Fayette County contracts with Waste Management to operate the Fayette County Transfer Station located at 211 First Manassas Mile Road in Fayetteville. Waste Management is currently maintaining regular hours of operation at thesite.

According to the Census 2020 website for census response rates, as of March 25, 2020, Fayette County has the highest return rate of any county in the state of Georgia. The county has a total return rate of 35.5 percent with an internet return rate of 35.2 percent. The Census Bureau sent the census notices out to each household in the middle of March. April 1, 2020 is “Fayette Census Day” as proclaimed by the Fayette County Board of Commissioners at their February 27, 2020 meeting. The Fayette Census Complete Count Committee requests that citizens answer their census questionnaire by April 1st so Fayette County can maintain its lead in the state. COVID-19 NUMBERS NOW UPDATING TWICE DAILY ATLANTA – The number of test results being reported to the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) is increasing as more labs are able to test for Covid-19. Additionally, test results are coming in at various times throughout the day from commercial labs. GCIP GRANT
The Association County Commissioners of Georgia Civic Affairs Foundation was created in 2006 to promote civic and community engagement amongst the youth. Through innovative programs, the foundation has been successful in providing diverse opportunities that enhance citizen education, encourage civic engagement and community improvement, and promote participation in county government. The Georgia County Internship Program (GCIP), created in 2010, receives funding through the Foundation to fund internships for college students and recent graduates to gain first-hand knowledge of county government operations. Funding is provided by the Foundation through grants, sponsorships and corporate and private donations. Since its inception, 425 internship opportunities have been provided to 75counties.
The GCIP Grant Review Committee met in January to review applications and selected 36 counties to receive grants to cover the cost of 40 internships for the 2020 program. This year, Fayette County was selected as a recipient of a grant funded by GCIP for the Environmental Education Project.Click here to

TYRONE SECTION OF DOGWOOD TRAIL – PARTIAL ROAD OPEN FAYETTE COUNTY, GEORGIA – NOVEMBER 21, 2019 – The Town of Tyrone’s section of Dogwood Trail is now OPEN to all traffic. This section of Dogwood Trail between SR 74 and Farr Road has been closed to thru-traffic since July 2019 for a 2017 SPLOST Stormwater Project. Fayette County’s section of Dogwood Trail between Farr Road and Tyrone Road will remain CLOSED until Spring 2020. The County’s section of Dogwood Trail has been closed to thru-traffic since August 2019 for a 2017 SPLOST Stormwater Project at Flat Creek. This project consists of the demolition and removal of two failing 120-inch corrugated metal pipes and the construction of a 48-ft by 14-ft concrete bottomless arch culvert. The location of a 6-inch gas main along Dogwood Trail remains in conflict with the County’s project. Atlanta Gas-Light-Southern Co. has been working on a design for a temporary gas line since September 11, 2019. Although the County’s contractor has been able to accomplish some work, the gas line conflict has caused more than a two month delay to date.
